  • Alan from Kidderminster reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "The Hotel is sited under the flight path of some departing aeroplanes. The noise is very brief and more noticable on a Wednesday.
The staff were all very helpful. The bedroom was spacious and spotless, with clean sheets and towels on a daily basis. Although the food was self service (as are most Greek Hotels) it was hot and plentiful with a wide selection of foods to choose from. If you left the restaurant hungry must be very picky! We did try the themed restaurant a couple of times during our stay. Again it is self service, but the meals offered were of an excellent standard. All amenities that are advertised were still available even though it was the end of the season. If you can't manage without television, there is a TV room. Alternatively you can pay a 20euro deposit on the remote for the TV in your room. Air Conditioning is available(although we didn't need it)again for a 20euro deposit for the remote PLUS 6euro per night. The majority of the guests are German, but we joined in with the activities and were made most welcome. The animation team always say everything in English first, then German.
The All Inclusive package is for local beers, spirits and wines which are of a drinkable standard. However branded drinks and any drink required after 23.00hrs must be paid for. The average charge for these was 5euros each
The local village of Mastihari is a 20 min walk along the sea front on a purpose built footpath. There are plenty of tavernas in the village to chose from if you fancy a change from the Hotels cuisine. The local bus service runs from here into Kos town for 2.60euros each way per person. Alternatively you can use the hotel bus for 7euros return per person.(The driver was a little erratic!)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Achilleas Beach and will definately return in the future."

  • Top Tip:

"We booked an around the Island Tour with Nissia Travel in Kos Town. It cost 28euros per person and included lunch, although entrance into the heritage sites were extra. We were collected from the Hotel and dropped off back at the hotel at the end of the day. The guide spoke perfect English and was very knowledgable. Well worth a try!!"

  • Sharon from Carterton reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "About a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Airport which was good, however the return flight path did seem to fly over the hotel, didn't bother us though.

The room was great, separate room for the children, 2 tv's but no satelitte. Entertainment was very cheesy always starting off with good old bingo, but the kids loved it.

There are 2 restaurants within the complex to enjoy your all inclusive choice, the main room is very much like a big school caferia, whilst the upstairs restaurant seemed like you were actually dining in a restaurant. The food was good but very repetative, all very clean and couldn't fault the staff.

Lovely big olympic size pool and small kids pool with a snack bar. The whole complex was very tidy, clean and friendly. A very mixed race of european's, not really dominated by any country.

Nearest town is about a 30 minute walk along the beach where there were local shops and restaurants. Nothing directly outside the complex to wander around in.

Really enjoyed our stay, however as we were not near to local communities we became a little bored towards the end of the 2 weeks."

  • Keith from Hinckley reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "Large, spaceful and clean complex with a massive pool, which never got overcrowded.Plenty of sunbeds(never had to rush out early to get them).Facilities are very good, food excellent and our rooms a good size, clean, overlooking the sea and kalymnos.Lovely beach, again with plenty of sunbeds Enthusiastic animation team with plenty of games etc to join in but no pressure to do so.Evening entertainment good for kids and adequate for adults.Only downside really was that Mastihari although very pleasant(15 min walk) is smaller and quieter than I imagined. Not a problem for my wife and I but our son and his friend, aged 17, were disappointed.Nevertheless they loved the hotel.Would certainly go again."

  • M from Accrington reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "Rooms were stunning, the whole hotel was clean. But there was some unsafe tiles around the pool and the pool toilets.
Food was good but very limited, they should have more of a selection, especially for people that may be vegetarian.
Also entertainment was done by the reps, so it was very dull. They did as best as they could but got boring towards the end of the first week. The second week we had to go out most nights because we didnt like the food or entertainment."

  • Top Tip:

"We walked into mastihari and found a brilliant restaurant on the beach front, we couldnt find out the name, but it was about 1 block down on the beach and had blue checked tablecloths, the food there was fatastic and was very cheap."

  • Janice from Glasgow reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "This hotel was excellent the room was nice and big, air conditioning was extra but we managed without it. The food was my main concern and was very good plenty of choice for fussy eaters. There was a themed restaurant on site which you could book without charge which had a theme each night we enjoyed Greek and Chinese night. It is a large hotel where the staff work really hard and are very friendly. There were plenty of sun beds and the sun beds on the beach were free also. The entertainment staff were brilliant working from 10 am till midnight allowing you to join in with as much or as little as you want. There was also a purpose built on site disco 3 times a week."

  • Top Tip:

"15 minutes walk on a path along side the beach brings you to Mastihari this is a lovely village where you can enjoy a nice meal or a cold drink and watch the world go by.
The hotel runs a bus to Kos town each day which is well worth a visit.
We also went a boat trip with great food and swimming off the boat and enjoyed a visit to the nearby water park."

  • REBECCA from WEST LOOE reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and we have enjoyed ourselves immensely each time. This is a great resort for families - especially for mums who would like a break from the cooking and cleaning!

The staff are polite and curteous, the rooms are light and airy and are kept clean to a good standard and the facilities are all you really need ( huge pool, beach on your doorstep, bar, restaurant and evening entertainment with a local shop just across the road).

The restaurant food is reasonable too, it is buffet style so there is generally something that the children will eat and a themed restaurant which you can book, although if you want a change you can always go out for food as there is the village of Mastihari a short drive away (or you can walk along the costal path to get there).

I would recommend the water park for a trip out as all the family loved it."

  • Top Tip:

"Good beaches are, Sunny Beach and magic beach as they are quieter than paradise which is always packed. These are a drive away toward Kefalos but I think the bus also goes there. There is a nice ball pool in Kefalos for the kids but again it is a drive and Sebastians restaurant in Kefalos is also good but if you want the best and cheap pizza go up into the old village of Kefalos and go to Marias cafe."

  • Sally from Launceston reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "All our family 2 adults and 3 x 14 year olds enjoyed our one week stay at the Achilleas Beach Hotel. It is a Euro Village so it is popular with all Europeans. It was quiet when we arrived at the end of May with the season just beginning but the hotel gradually filled up during the week. The rooms were fine - one having a lovely seaview, the other looking towards the pool bar which would not be good if you wanted to get to sleep before 10.30 -11pm which was roughly when the entertainment outside finished. The entertainment was OK - bingo, audience participation quizzes, Greek dancing and the animators did their best to involve all nationalities but were not too pushy! The disco was "rubbish" I am told by my teenagers as there were only a few teenagers at the hotel when we were there. During the day - aqua aerobics, darts, table tennis tournaments, water polo. The food was great for this type of hotel and there were ample vegetarian options. The service was v. good. We did try the "themed" restaurant for Italian and Chinese meals but it was a disappointment - the service was poor and the food in the second sitting was luke warm and had obviously been in the serving dishes for a couple of hours! All the staff were pleasant and helpful and the hotel and grounds were kept very clean. We would definitely go back there again."

  • "The hotel is more a 3 star and not a 4. But in saying the hotel was more than fine, it was value for money, and you got what you paid for. Only down point was the luke warm food which was a common theme, but there was microwave there so you could heat it up. Wouldnt fancy being here in the height of the season though.Tail end was fine, beach quiet, no problem with loungers and getting a drink in the evening"

  • Top Tip:

"Mastihari has a good beach and beach restaurants 15 minutes walk from the hotel. PS if you want a non beach day and weather not so good, and fancy the muesem and roman ruins, dont go to KOS town on Monday's as the muesem and access to payed sites are closed, a bti like a Sunday"

  • Brian from Diss reviewed the Achilleas Beach Hotel

  • "Achileas Beach Hotel is in a quiet not too unspoiled location, about 1 mile from Mastahari. Many rooms are far from UK 4* but clean and adequate, including our upper double room, but its position and direct seaview more than compensated. Good food choice but seems repetative by the end. Olympic pool. Plenty of sun loungers and shade cover. Sports facilities/leisure etc. Great new sandy beach etc had been created on the complex this year. Overall, a great place to chill, and good value AI holiday - rating takes that into account. This was our 3rd visit!"
