  • "You know what this holiday met our expectations spot on. The hotel was in a lovely setting although quite far from a resort centre, the bay was beautiful and could not fault the weather. We went to Eygpt to relax and sight see and thats what we did the pool area and beach at the hotel were great and the trips we went on we got more than our moneys worth. The hotel was spotlessly clean in the lobby,Beach,pool,rooms and one of the bars. However the dinning room and bar areas were a bit of a shamebles both service wise and what was on offer. The food really lets the hotel down it is not 5 star standard its more like 3 star and the service was pretty similar to a poor fast food restraunt. The hotel is very understaffed and it shows during the meal times and in the evening at the bar. The entertainment is pretty woeful again lets the hotel down massivley. The russian and slovakian guests are also pretty poor mannered and this is something to be aware of if you haven't had experinced of them before due to what can be percived as lack of manners to our own standards here in the UK. The service at the hotel is very poor the reception staff are near to useless a number of messages were not passed on and wake up calls were not put in we only had one little problem during the holiday which in a five star hotel would not of even been an issue the staff at reception dragged this out all day and caused a bit of stress due to there ineptness. in the end it was a bell boy and waiter who sorted the problem. The service in the restraunt was abismal also again this is maily down to the lack of staff, and the food was very very poor. Although it is a bit of a moan above our holiday was fantastic and Eygpt is a great place to visit. What we paid and what we were sold was pretty spot on however the star rating on the hotel really is no were near a five star and should be ammended accourdingly."

    "Trips booked through you travel were excellent well put together and the guides were so passonaite and detailed really do make sure you visit Cairo or Luxor or both while you are there. Also scuba diving is amazing."

  • "The hotel was lovely in a very nice position of Makadi Bay. We did have problems with service and food however. We spoke with the general manager who explained that the hotel had only been open for a few months and that he would take on board all the comments we made and that if we returned iater this year we would see the improvements. This was our 7th visit to Egypt and compared with other hotels we have stayed food and service we would give not more than 3 stars, the choice of food was very poor and very cool, we and quite a few others in our weeks stay had stomach problems (one was very poorly). Usually service in Egypt is excellent but at this hotel was very poor, we had to wait ages for drinks and quite a few times we had to clear our own tables and ask for new cutlery etc."

  • "Hotel was nice. SOme of the staff were very nice. However upon arrival no-one gave us any idea of the all inclusive "rules" and there were many - i.e ice cream only from 3-5pm. You could not get a bottle of water before 10am (which we wanted to take to the beach). A lot seemed to be designed so that you couldnt have what you wanted WHEN you wanted it. Not a 5 * by any stretch. However we all enjoyed our holiday, although found the "all inclusive" a little annoying at times."

  • Top Tip:

    "Hotel shops were VERY EXPENSIVE, i.e 4 bars of chocolate and a lighter was £10 in sterling! 4 toothbrushes £15 sterling. Total rip-off."

  • "No Gypty tummy, very friendly staff, The hotel overlooked its own private bay with its own coral reef so great for snorkelling, sailing and scubber diving. Sand was reasonable under foot. Unfortunately the heated swimming pool was not heated!

    Being new this year the finish in the hotel was good but there were signs of the building work being rushed at the end. Not a hotel that has attracted the british tour operators yet. Makadi Bay resort accessible by shuttle mini bus 3 euros each way.

    Would recommend to parties with young children and to couples. Good for older water sport loving children. All inclusive covers most ordinary needs and it could be holiday where cash is unneccesary. Tips are not essential for good service"

  • Top Tip:

    "The Semi sub is an ideal way to view the wonders of the Red sea without getting wet!! Glass bottom boats are small and a very wet trip according to fellow holiday makers who used them. Luxor and Cairo too far from this resort for all but the most hardened travellors"

  • "My first comment would have to be the shower. It worked fine for a few seconds and then the pressure would drop and it would go quite cold and then really hot too hot to stand under, if i was a young child or elderly i could have scolded myself, it seems that everyone was in the same boat.
    Secondly our Rep at the hotel was totally usless. He told us we could get hold of him 24 - 7 well that certainly wasn't the case, and again we weren't the only one's who had issues with him.
    Thirdly, we requested a room after checking out to shower and change as we weren't leaving til the latter part of the afternoon, but were told this wasn't possible as every room was taken....wasn't sure if that was true but i feel for a five star hotel this need's to be addressed, it's no fun being dressed ready to go back home 3 hrs before you need to be, we could have had a little more holiday time, we all know how boring it can be at the best of times waiting to be picked up.
    Over all, i have been to Egypt 7 times and can say that really is a lovely place to stay and go for a well chilled holiday. The staff we're lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The snorkeling was amazing, i'd go back."
