"We have visited many of the Greek islands over the last 30 years. This was our first time in Skiathos town.
Booking a hotel was not something we normally did, usuallly self catering rooms.
The flight was such a treat, good service and a prompt departure from Skiathos airport with our luggage. The taxi to the Alkyon took just 5 minutes. We were given a sea facing room with a magnificent harbour view.Breakfast was outside on the terrace with plenty of food to chose from the buffet table.
The hotel was no more noisy than expected. The usual traffic noise and the infernal high heel shoes clicking away in the early hours plus the banging doors. I thought there was people in our bathroom, until I realised they were cursing each other in the room next door
We visited the islands of Skopolos and Alonnisos by a daily cruise boat from Skiathos town.
The flight home was also smooth, even with a refuelling stop
Such an enjoyable experience in the Hotel Alkyon."

"Hotel is ideally situated for Skiathos Town and the local bus service to all beaches. We have stayed there four times and the atmosphere is very friendly with helpful staff. The rooms are not completely up to date but suit us and many of the regulars who return there very well."

"Stayed at Hotel Alkyon 3***. Regret to say despite lovely reception area , breakfast terrace , bar & pool area - all very pleasant - bar and breakfast staff great , that the hotel bathrooms are very tired and disappointingly in desperate need of updating - our room had a badly chipped and rusty bath and rusty shower rail - must have been 30 years old ! . Hotel reception staff whilst appearing pleasant are uncooperative and unhelpful don`t even think about asking to change rooms ! . Rooms are all down long corridors - these generated a lot of noise mainly from doors banging at all hours of the day & night - a little carpeting would help !"

"Have stayed at the Alkyon in Skiathos Town a number of times, due to location. Ideal for access to restaurants, and bus terminal. Hotel staff very friendly and rooms are cleaned daily, with bathrooms and AC units having been upgraded recently."

"This hotel is very convenient for the evening strolls around the harbours, the numerous tavernas including a great variety of small supermarkets and shops and right outside the hotel you have the the No 1 stop for the popular bus that will take you to any of the 26 bus stops of which serve any of the 65 beautiful beaches.
The breakfast is really good and enough to set you up for the day ahead. this is taken on the roof terrace of which I must say have one of the best views of the Skiathos harbour you can find.
Rooms were cleaned and fresh sheets and towels were provided every day. Although the rooms are a bit tired looking they are clean and comfortable and provide adequate space for clothes etc."

"Hotel could use a makeover, but rooms are well cleaned towels and sheets changed very frequently.
Hotel is ideally placed for bus or taxi.
Breakfast is V Good and the breakfast balcony has one of the best views in Skiathios town.
Reception Staff are extremely helpful.
All round- very good vlue."

"The Alkyon is clean, neat and tidy, yet somewhat dated hotel. The entrance is nice with seating to the lounge leading to small pool. Reception staff could be a little more helpful. With the corridors being long with many rooms on each floor, lack of room insulation and sound proofing means that you can hear every little word from one end of the corridor to the other whilst in your room.

This caused major problems are no one has any privacy to have a private conversation. One night we could hear people making love, the other the kids next door acted so loud we had to buy ear plugs.

The cleaners do a great job however make so much noise at 8am that you are awake. Room doors constantly bang shut and are constantly banged. It felt like every guest just did not care about the noise.

The Pool was always full of children with relatives hogging parts of the pool so we never used this at all. I felt sad as we had to go the beach every day due to this. Again the noise from the children was too much to bare. It was constant and not relaxing.

The lift was broke and we had to use the stairs all the time and when your above the second floor its a pain.

The breakfast area was nice and yes sitting on the balcony with the view of the harbour and enough food layed on to have a nice breakfast was a bonus. The staff were very good at keeping the eating areas clean, neat and tidy, however far to may people smoking on the large balcony so we felt renagated to the smaller one.

Car Hire Hotel Parking, many people parked in the small hotel parking zone so we could not park at the hotel at any time, luckly not many thefts in skiathos so the jeep was safe on the main road.

Location: Hotel from the airport only cost 6euro and the taxi driver was very nice and even nicer with a 2euro tip. The hotel is in a nice location ideal for all areas of the island, together with an outstanding restaurant just infront, must be the finest restaurant on the island. We have been skiathos 4 times and love this place. It has a modern yet clasical feel to it with direct views of the old harbour, so so nice and should you eat there more than once, the owner makes you feel very important.

This place does get very busy also if you like steak must be best on the island!!!!

Bath: For a greek hotel, yes the room is dated but the water is hot and plenty of it.

If you stay at this hotel you must get a port view and the garden view is dull.

Would we stay here again: NO the noise and the poor quality wooden doors, wall insulation from noise is just to to much, pool is too small for such a large hotel and kids run riot throughout the hotel.

Should you have children then yes I am sure you will like this hotel as you are used to the noise natually children make, and I have no problem with children just not for us.

Hope you enjoy, the island is outstanding, Villa Alirandi is a great place to stay opp the airport and lake !!!!

"Basic room could do with some upgrading. Spotlessly clean. Staff pleasant and helpful if neccesary. Very central. Terace for breakfast and lazy afternoons has fantastic views over harbour. This our second stay there and certainly wont be our last."

"We have stayed at the Alykon hotel - skiathos before so we new what to expect, however the rooms are in new of a major refurbishment.
The bathroom was especially tatty, the shower was broken and hot water was in limited supply.
On the plus side, the view from the breakfast terrace is fabulous, the bar and pool area are very nice."
