"Steps everywhere you cannot avoid them, rooms grim, beds awful, like a bed of nails, but on request you can have as many blankets as you need to cover the springs up to help you sleep without being three sheets to the wind. Reception staff and the response time to requests were excellent, could not have been more helpful. Food if you are Spanish you will adore the food, the baked beans came straight from the can without being heated, bacon - well hunt the meaty bits, fried eggs cooked and left on a cold tin tray hence were cold and not properly cooked either (selmonela?), desserts well I am lost for words; but the Nestles ice cream was lovely - had two every day for two weeks. Oh and the bread buns were very nice, so was the jam in huge containers for the flies to take a bath in when ever they wished. We went half board, but even those on all inclusive had to pay for TV channels!"

"Lots of Spanish pensioners at the hotel the week we chose, the Spanish government treats them simirlarly to our pensioners only instead of heating allowance they get a free week stay at a hotel. It is a popular hotel with the Spanish nece it was always very busy."

"hotel was very basic but for price i have no real complaints. Mostly older people and foreigners. We were only given clean towels once ina week which i think is awful and the cleaners just come into the room without being let in when we were in the room. This could potentially lead to a very embarrassing situation I feel if guests are in the rooom they should wait to be let in instead of just walking in."

"Not all pools in service. Staff very friendly and good service. Reps tried very hard to entertain with limited resources and the venue for evening entertainment was awful. Restaurant tired looking, too many tables in too smaller space (sectioned off over half of it) and limited variety most days - if you like angel delight for dessert you'l be fine. Saying that we did not starve. Hotel location excellent but it needs a good overhaul in some parts. Only three other english families while we were there all other guests were retired spanish couples who only stayed a couple of nights. Very quite.
For what we paid it was a fair deal."

"Hotel was very basic but was kept clean and tidy.
Hiring tv air con etc was all extra
The daily entertainment seemed non existant maybe because there were 4 pools and we were round the wrong pool,we only saw anyone twice in a week and there should have been 5 or more things on each day.
Evening entertainment was catering for spanish over 65's . mainly spanish music and spanish line dancing!!
The hotel is in a good position for other bars and restaurants ie round jameos playa,matagorda and costa mar and a short taxi ride into peurto del carmen"

"these apartments were very basic indeed and the beds made a terrible noise, but they were kept very clean and regulally changed towels. The entertainment was awful and only seemed to cater for the over 60's and for spanish people. The daytime activities were also a let down as we were only approached twice in our stay to see if we wanted to join in something. I didnt actually see any being performed in my stay. This is a shame as our kids were quite bored. The hotel is situated very well near to the beach shops and restaurants. I think they could improve alot on these apartments as they dont match up to the wonderful location."

"Hotel room was cleaned each day. Towels etc were changed on regular basis. The grounds were clean and tidy & the pools were kept very clean. All staff were courtious & polite, from the cleaners through to reception & the supermarket. A very pleasant stay."

"Was worried about this place after reading bad reviews, I can see where some of them are coming form but Went with my sister spent a week there and it was fine. First room we got not great at all and wouldnt have stayed in it but asked for a change and was given a room on an upper floor which suited us better as the first had a double bed and we wanted a twin. The room we had was quite large and overlooked the swimming pool. Its not the ritz but for the price we paid it was fine, if you want better then pay more!! we were just looking for a cheap week so were fine. the pools however were freezing !! so much that you couldnt bear to go in but as the hotel is located really well its a couple of mins to the beach which we used most days, Cant say about food or drinks as we didnt have any, I would probably say that i woulnt go all inclusive or half board. The hotel reception staff were fine no problems. not many other staff as far as i could see and could have done with more cleaning of general areas like round pool, pool was cleaned daily but the surrounding areas quite littered and sticky with drinks spilled but not cleaned up. But for us it was an enjoyable week as the weather was fine and the room was just a base. The location is good as its two mins from shops and beach and a few euros in a taxi to playa del carmen so lots to do."

"Very good accomodation, upon arrival could not move into room for 3 hours but made up for it with free upgrade very friendly staff. locals very friendly. Great choice of food every night including healthy veggie salad options, fish, chicken and red meat. VERY CLEAN HOTEL AND SURROUNDINGS. LOTS TO DO!"

"Hi, I read reviews about the Don Paco before I left and they were pretty varied...I admit that I was a bit concerned....However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a ground floor apartment which consisted of a twin bedroom, kitchen area including fridge, kettle, coffee perculator, cutlery etc, three small steps led to lounge area, then through patio doors to terrace which was beside pool. Really lovely. Apartment was spotless when we arrived and was cleaned 3 times a week. I was self catering so didnt eat in the restaurant but had a drink...half pint of larger in a plastic glass..not good!!! The food looked anything but appetitising but as I didnt eat there it wasnt an issue. Although there is a shop in the complex, there is a spar just a short walk away which is cheaper. There is a bar/restaurant close by called Lenegans...very expensive and not all that great so I would give it a miss. Some nice little bars close by. I would definitely go back and be quite happy to stay here."

"the don paco is in a prime location, apartments basic but very clean, we have been there five years running and enjoy it everytime, you are about 15min walk from the main strip , there are bars and resturants 2mins walk away very cheap for food. the pool bar on site is also very resonable and the food is good the staff are friendly all in all a very nice place and very child friendly"

"great pools for the kids,the park needs updating,not very safe, there are no safety warnings, the mini golf is a bit of a joke, the food was basic sausage burgers chips pasta and fish bits everyday. the rooms where we were 374 was very good we had the sun all day. bar service not bad could be a bit quicker but all very friendly. we had a few problems with the room but they were sorted within hours. we went all inclusive but had to pay 18euros for tv a week 18euros a week for air con 3euros a day for a parasole, ice-cream lollipops from 1.50euro 1.80 for slush puppy. there is a nice walk to the airport about 10 mins away nice seafront. in the restaraunt i used to put my bacon back on the hot plate to cook it tidy as it was raw they do not mind. a bit windy you need to put something in the door to stop it rattling. not a bad place to go, there are no lifts so if your on the third floor you got about 40 steps to climb you need to be fit."
