"We arrived on Friday night and the hotel was all we could have hoped for, the staff were lovely and friendly and the room was clean and very tastefully decorated. We would be happy to go back anytime soon.
The bus service was very good and ran every 15 minutes and there are several beaches within 15 minutes ride to visit."Top Tip:
"Found the banana beach close by very liberating as it is a naturist beach never been to one before but it was lovley to swim in the sea and come back with no white bits. "hotel did not display their charges for Air conditioning and it was a shock to discover that these had to be paid at the end of our stay
Given that the Freedom Flights problem surfaced whilst we were in Skiathos , we would have liked more information ( By Fax? ) from yourselves in the UK to re-assure us about repatriation arrangements"Top Tip:

"very smart hotel. lovely pool area. we had a very nice and quiet room as requested. the staff were friendly and the room was cleaned every day. the hotel is just down a track off the busy main road. you cross this road and go about 100 yards down another track and you are on the lovely troulos beach. the bus stops at the end of the track and it is 1 euro 60 into skiathos town. there are restaurants in troulos but we preferred to go into the town every night as it is lovely. very pretty and lots of excellent tavernas and shops. it has a great atmosphere. try the open air cinema in the main street in town. you can sit and watch your film ,(we saw mamma mia,) with a bottle of wine at little tables set amongst the seats. very civilised! we have been to skiathos before and will go back again.the astoria hotel is a good reasonably priced hotel and a good base for a holiday in skiathos."

"Was surprised to find Hotel recently refurbished. Room was fab as was all the facilities. Would stay again. Great Holiday well recommended."

"This is a lovely small hotel which has recently been beautifully renovated. Everything is new and the sunloungers are fab. The pool is lovely and the bar is run by a great guy called Harry
There are no extra acilities for children but the beach is only a short distance away. The staff are friendly and as it is a small hotel everyone greets each other in the morning. The atmoshere in the bar in the evening is sociable or you can choose to have a quiet drink together.
It is very clean and the room service is excellent. Breakfast is basic but enough. Hot or cold with a little toaster you can choose eggs bacon/sausage or continental.
I would definitely return to this lovely little hotel."Top Tip:
"We hired a jeep for the day - great. Bus stop at the end of the road and it is about 17 minutes on the bus to the harbour(be prepared to stand. At least everyone gets on) We left the beach quite late and we found the buses had plenty of room. "The Astoria has undergone a complete refurbishment to a very good standard. The rooms are pleasant and functional, the additional charge for air-conditioning is a bit steep - but works well and can be controlled easily. Breakfast is a reasonable mix of cold meats, bread, toast, yoghurt and honey with some hot breakfast fayre - bacon and scrambled eggs etc. - basic but gives something for most tastes. Good pool - but could do with a parasol or two - as you have to rely on shade from the surrounding trees. Quiet setting - but close to the bus stop and local beach.
The integral bar 'Harry's' is a great feature of the hotel - Harry is an excellent host and makes both a good cocktail and always has a beer glass in the freezer which is always welcome after a long day of doing very little.
Skiathos is a great location for a beach type holiday. Reasonable mix of beaches and restaurants - but not really for those who like to roam in a jeep - its such a small island you quite quickly see the whole place."Top Tip:
"Go to Skiathos town on the bus and go to the Windmill restaurant - its a steep climb - so not for the weak and faint hearted. Food is really excellent - and the views over the whole of the harbour are spectacular. Think it was some years ago voted one of the top ten locations in the world - easy to see why. "The hotel has recently been refurbished and is now very stylish but at the same time has managed to retain it's friendly atmosphere.
The pool has ample sunbeds and the bar area is a lovely setting for a lunchtime or nightime drink.
I can't wait to go back in 11 weeks time!"Top Tip:

"The Hotel Astoria in Skiathos has undergone complete refurbishment which was in the final stages during our stay (28May-4Jun). For those visiting this hotel mid-summer (End June onwards when everything should have been completed) you will be staying in a very new, modern and contemporary hotel which is spotlessly clean. Our beds were made every day and changed several times during the week. Every single piece of furniture throughout the hotel of is new... and I mean everything! The breakfast is "continental style" but very sufficient. Tea/coffee/toast/fruit juices/fruit/yoghurt/jams/cereals and boiled/scrambled eggs. The pool is lovely and there is a new pool bar (just being completed as we left) and it is less than 5 minutes to the beautiful beach of Troulos. Due to the pool bar not being completed we used the services of The Beltsios next door, where we have stayed before - which is fab. The only 'negative' I would say for this hotel is that the atmosphere could be better. The staff could be more friendlier (hence why we love the Beltsios!).
I understand the star rating of this hotel will go up to 4* and for Greece I can see why."Top Tip:
"The island of Skiathos is absolutely gorgeous. I previously went in 2006 with just my partner but this year (2008) I took my 11 year old daughter. She was only used to Benidorm (with her dad and my in-laws) but she loved Skiathos. We hired a jeep for 3 days to get about the island and visit the beeches on the northern side which are not accessible by bus. We managed to go to 7 or 8 of the apparently "68" beaches on the island; inc Koukounaries, Troulos, Kechria, Megalos Aselinos, Minos Aselinos, Xanamos, Aghias Paraskevi. The time of year I thought was perfect. We had very hot weather but at is was pretty much at the beginning of the season the island, beaches and buses were not too full. For eating do travel around. We liked "Infinity Blue" by bus stop No 15 (fab views of the sea!) and also the "Abrosia Nectar" near bus stop No 19. In the town try the Asprolithos. If you are staying in Troulos go and visit Tony and Yiota at the Belsios (just behind the Hotel Astoria - bus stop No 20). They play great music by the bar all day and are very friendly. The bar is open until the last person goes to bed. Great for families, couples... anyone really. We made good friends there and plan to go back next year."Astoria Skiathos Hotel check-in Date:

"A very peaceful island,the hotel was ideal,not to busy,very friendly and helpful.The pool area, gardens and bar are well kept,with plenty of space around the pool and very little children traffic.It was adjacent to bus stop 20."

"very friendly family run hotel, wonderful swimming pool, couldn't keep the kids out of it. reservations booked for the windmilll resturant, and cabs ordered without any hastle. Large breakfast buffet every day. Not to mention the one and only Harry's Bar, with Harry as the host, brillient barman, and entertainer !

"We had a wonderful holiday. The hotel was modest but clean and comfortable. There was a nice pool area which had free sunbeds and was never busy. The beautiful beach was only 10-15 minutes walk away. There was a bus stop at the end of the hotel driveway with a service in to town. There were a couple of convenience stores nearby. All on the level making it easy for pushchairs."
Top Tip:
"The best restaurants are in Skiathos Town - especially on top of the hill rather than on the waterfront - Aspropholis was our favourite.
