    "El Caleton is a small beach near San Juan where they serve an excellent meal on the beach. There is also a good and friendly restaurant "Cafe Paris" in San Juan run by a Frenchman where they serve excellent food and music. The people in the Dominican Republic are simply the best."

  • "my partner,son and i had a fantastic time at the Bahia Principe,from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by a smiling friendly waiter with a cocktail,the hotel is of high standard and our room was clean and well presented.Bahia Principe is set on the most beautiful beach with upteen sports to try.
    All the staff work extemely hard and this is shown by the great entertainment they provide ,there's never a dull moment because of the dedication they give.
    We found every one of them very friendly and helpful.This really is a great place to go on holiday to, especially if you have children ,it was great at night because it was safe for our 11 year old son to go along the street with his friends as there is sercurity on the gates. We really thought we were in paradise especially when we sat on the beach with our feet in the sea eating freshly barbecued languostines! Dont expect to lose weight here because the food and drink is fantastic and free flowing all the time,they cater for every one.
    the worst time on the holiday was the day we came home because we really could have stayed.
    The domican Republic is such a beautifull island as we found out on the trips we took, we are planning to go back next year because we found this holiday provided us with every thing and more and great value for money,so thankyou travel republic for booking this fantastic holiday."

    "my top tip would be to buy all gifts, souvenirs at the airport when you leave because you will find everything that you can get on the island but at a fraction of the price."

  • "I had seen many reports about this hotel saying that it was very run down. It was not as bad as expected but coul do with a refit. Our rooms were comfortable but the air conditioning unit did fall off the wall in my childrens room. If you have teenagers they will have a great time which is why I chose the hotel."

    "Avoid the beach when it has been raining. The sand flies are lethal"

  • "Hotel and facilities were fantastic. The buffet food was always excellent in terms of quality and choice, and the 'mediteranian' restaraunt was exceptional.
    The evening entertainment was not always to our liking but appealed to the many families on holiday.
    The spa was well worth the cost for something special."

  • "The hotel was very 'above average' although we did upgade on resort.
    Whilst the beach and the hotel facilities were excellent, outside of the Hotel and the surrounding area was quite intimadating and not very pleasant!"

The Bahia Principe San Juan hotel is located 18 km along the Gaspar Hernandez-Rio San Juan road, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. It was opened in July 1995 and stands on a private 1.5km long beach sheltered by a coral reef. The hotel covers an area of over 1.5 million sq m and is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, with myriad mangroves all over the area surrounding the hotel.

Accommodation

The large rooms have 2 single beds or one double, air conditioning, fully fitted bathrooms, hair-dryer, cable TV (satellite), telephone with direct outside line, mini-bar, safe deposit box(extra charge) and cot rental (on request), and a balcony or terrace.

All Inclusive Food & Drinks

The AI programme consists of breakfast (07:00-10:00), lunch (13:00-15:30) and dinner (19:00-22:00), all buffet style, served in the main restaurant “La Brisa”. During meals house wine is offered. Also at the disposal of the AI guests with prior reservation is the Italian restaurant “El Chiringuito” serving A la Carte dinner, the gourmet “La Orquidea”, the Mexican “Rincon Mexicano” as well as the buffet beach restaurant “Casita Blanca” offering American food 24 hours (except for breakfast). Snacks such as hot dogs, hamburgers, etc are available between 10:00 & 19:30 at the La Casita Blanca or at the Pueblo Principe until 23:00. Locally produced alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks like beer, wine, soft drinks, cocktails, juices and water are served 24hrs (alcoholic drinks till 23:00) at the 10 bars of the hotel. All locally produced drinks are also available at Pueblo Principe hotel in the bars: “La Terraza” Bar, Discotheque, Karaoke and Rock Café. In-room mini bars are refilled daily with sodas, beer and water.

All Inclusive Sports & Entertainment

Sport facilities at the hotel include non-motorized water sports (catamaran, kayaks, sunfish sailing - one hour daily), snorkelling, soccer, mini-golf, badminton, boccia, gym, fitness, bodybuilding, aerobics, merengue lessons, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, boogie boards and bicycles (one hour daily). Sun beds, sunshades & towels are available at the pools & beach. International entertainment programmes for adults & children are organized during the day & night as well as various games & special activities for children. Mini club is available for children as well as one free hour of baby-sitting from 19:00-24:00 (after the first four paid hours).

Chargeable Extras

Catamaran tours, boat & fishing excursions, windsurfing, sunfish sailing lessons, diving school (PADI), water-skiing, jet ski, banana boat, horse-riding, motorised sports, spa, safety deposit boxes, laundry, medical services, telephone calls, fax, exchange services, services & goods in Pueblo Principe hotel and daily shuttle service to Cabarete & Sosua are available at a charge.

Facilities & Services

The complex has two lake-type swimming-pools with children section, one of them with Jacuzzi, one activities pool and a large sun-deck. There is a concert-hall/theatre and a mini-golf course as well. Children Facilities: the hotel offers the facilities of the Bahia Principe San Juan Mini-Club for the enjoyment and healthy entertainment of children. The club has fully qualified staff responsible for entertaining children with various recreational & interactive activities to ensure they enjoy their holiday in a healthy and safe way. The mini-club is available to children aged between 4 & 12 years.

The hotel is located 65 km from Puerto Plata airport (POP), taking around 90 minutes by car.
