"October 08: All rooms are spacious and well furnished with a full sea view. Due to quiet location and warm weather we left our double doors to the balcony open all night. Hot buffet breakfast was varied and of good quality. Staff were obliging and helpful. Pool was warm, although not large. However, the protected marina just across the small road from the Hotel provided lovely swimming despite the stony beach. Would recommend hiring car as lots to see around Madeira and local transport links not so well developed outside Funchal. Hotel has ample underground parking."

"Hotel disappointing. Food choice poor, staff unhelpful. No decent outside space to sit"

"Ponta do sol is a very quiet bay with only one bus out daily to other parts of the island, you really need a car. We really love the quiet life here. There is a beach cafe which does good food and another restaurant right at the top of the hill overlooking the sea which is lovely. The actual hotel has a lovely indoor pool and a sun deck on the top floor. There is no entertainment, apart from the festivals that the villages seem to have quite often and its best to find out when these are. We will be going again next year!!"

"Excellent hotel for our needs. Really enjoyed the stay."

"The Baia Do Sol is excellent value. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and all have a sea view. The restaurant was ok but we chose to eat elsewhere most of the time. . Ponta do Sol itself is very quiet, apart from on the Friday night that we were there when there was a disco in the cafe opposite the hotel until 4am! (I'm not sure whether this is a weekly event!). I would recommend hiring a car athough the hotel does provide a courtesy bus into Funchal three times a week."

"Large, clean room. Staff friendly. Swimming pool cold!
Hot buffet breakfast - good, but rarely "hot"."

"Hotel was in a good location and very clean. However, the breakfast was disappointing"

"quiet, friendly and a good location. restaurant generally very good"

"Lovely spacious room overlooking beach. Friendly staff. Excellent value"

"My daughter & self had a wonderful and most relaxing holiday. We were well cared for by the staff, who were kindness itself. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Our rooms were cleaned everyday & clean linen too. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we did not want to come home. We hope to return to Madeira in the near future."

"The hotel Ponta do Sol is a beautiful hotel in front of a little beach, from the hotel window we had every night a fantastic sunset. The buffet food, like every hotel, was not great, but saying that convenient as not a lot of restaurants around.
The hotel was clean and staff friendly."

"We enjoyed our stay at Baia Do Sol Hotel. Getting there by hire car was fairly
painless on the Rapido expressway. It is about a 30 minutes journey . Food was good . The buffet dinner was popular but no vegetarian option included . The hotel does cater for dietry needs so it would be worth enquiring . The young chef came to our table to check up on our meal on the one evening we went a la carte. ."

"Hotel was very clean, modern, excellent position, good value for money. Our room was huge with sea view and good bathroom. We ate in the hotel only once from choice, it was perfectly acceptable from A La Carte Menu. We also tried the other hotel in town (much more expensive) with lovely views but the food was no better."
