  • Jonathon from london reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "A pleasant hotel with nice pool but little else to do on site. Narest beach is good 10/15 min walkbut there is a useful shuttle to a much larger beach (Gale) a 5 minute drive way

The shuttle to Albufeira in teh evening left a little to early for us but the town is only 6euro, 10 minute taxi ride away"

  • Top Tip:

"When at Gale beach walk along the seafront (partly over the cliffs) as if heading back towards the hotel. There are some lovely small coves with beaches you can virtually have to yourself

Some of the beaches have small restaurants that serve great seafood through the evening, as the sun sets. A good alternative to going into Albufeira if it's just the two of you"

  • Simon from Doncaster reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "Overall we had a really enjoyable stay at the Baia Grande. The hotel is situated approx 5 mins drive from the centre of Albufiera old town but the hotel runs a free shuttle bus to and from Albufiera 3 times per day (no shuttle back hwver after 4.10pm). The rooms, pool, staff service and breakfast buffet (we stopped B&B) are of a very high standard allthough the evening meals if you wish to add them are expensive, as is the food from the poolside bar. Overall though an excelent hotel, one of the very best we have stopped in."

  • Top Tip:

"Go to Sao Rafael Beach situated approx 20 min walk along the cliffs nr the hotel. Really nice quiet beach as opposed to the busier beaches. Dont use the phone from your room. They charged us 56 euros for approx 15 mins worth of calls. Its prob ten times the rate you will pay from a standard payphone!"

  • Joanne from London reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "This is a lovely hotel though being just outside the main town the restaurants and evening entertainment are limited. car rental is advised. close to numerous beaches that should ALL be visited. The hotel is located in a small area just outside Albufiera and as such is largely unspoiled by tourism adding to the charm of the area. though with this the 'entertainment' is limited. the hotel puts on good entertainment in the evenings however if you are looking to party the night away this may not be the hotel or location for you."

  • Top Tip:

"Dom Diniz is a lovely place to eat serving a proper meal with vegetables instead of unhealthy sides. tip would be to hire a car to get around more and have access to more things in the area."

  • Nikki from Rotherham reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "The Baia Grande is fantastic. It is the second time my partner and I have been in two years. The staff are very helpful and friendly and yet remain very professional. The rooms are a great size and are of high standard. The pool and outside areas are lovely. The breakfast room could do with being a little larger as many people were having to que in a morning. The Hotel put on a bus to the centre of Albufeira but I would reccommend hiring a car to see more of the Algarve."

  • Top Tip:

"Find Cohela beach. It is very small and seculded with a nice little cafe/bar."

  • A from ipswich reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "A first class hotel of what we regard as being ideal size. Clean throughout and all areas kept to high standards. There was a good mixture of ages and all seemed to be having agreat time. Staff were very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Certainly planning on going back at some time"

  • Top Tip:

"We had half board and found the food excellant. There were a scattering of restaurants in the area and people we spoke to seemed to find them very good."

  • Top Tip:

"there is a lovley little curry house called the curry club, its abit of walk from the hotel, takes about 15 mins to get there but well worth it. there is also a really nice resturant called o moncherio near the hotel, the lamb there was amazing."

  • tara from preston reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "i wasnt impressed with the hotel at all. its definatley not 4 star.we had to pay to order a taxi. which sometimes we couldnt even get or had to wait half an hour, espacially in the eve.the staff looked like they didnt want to be there, not freindly at all,nor do they smile, nor are they helpful. Happyhour was like misery hour, it felt like we were in a library!! plus the pool bar shuts at six, so we then had to go inside, which the air con was broken?? you cant change money there,so unless you got it the night before we had a 30min walk to the cash machine. the hotel has nothing nearby, the nearest beach 10/15min walk, and unless u are quite fit to walk back up the hill, isnt ideal for elderly or families. wouldnt go again nor would i reccommend"

  • Tim from Havant reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "Excellent holiday - hotel was first class. Would definately recommend it to others - in fact we are seriously thinking of going back there again next year. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke fluent English - as well as French, German and Portugese.
Facilities were first class and food was very good - although the puddings did not change much over the week."

  • Top Tip:

"There are several excellent beaches within fairly easy walking distance of the hotel. We did not hire a car this time, but instead organised 3 day trips where we were collected from the hotel. Next time we might hire a car and go off on our own, but certainly an excellent holiday to remember - and a lovely tan as well."

  • Jill from Haddington reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "Beautiful hotel, very comfortable and staff very helpful. In a quiet location but cortesy bus useful for trips into Albufeira old town. Return taxi's cost approx 6 Euros.
Although they have a games room, there are no pool/snooker tables or chess sets. Only entertainment for youngsters was outdoor table tennis."

  • Top Tip:

"Walk the coastal routes there are some lovely secluded beaches and scenery close by.
You'll find great local resturants if you walk further toward Gale Beach and Scobby's Bar for UK family fun."

  • Jane from Dronfield reviewed the Baia Grande Hotel

  • "As a frequent visitor to the area, I would recommend the Baia Grande to anyone. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean ,comfortable and spacious and the food is adequete. The only negatives would be that out of season the outside pool is too cold as it isn't heated, and that depending on the position of your room, when the hotel entertainment is in full swing don't plan on having an early night unless you've packed earplugs !!"

  • Top Tip:
