"Above all the Bitzaro Grande on Zante has some of the friendliest staff I've found on any holiday. The hotel is beautfully laid out and clean. The resaurant, although sometimes limited in choice, still provides good quality food for most tastes. The Travel Republic price made it a must and their organisation couldn't be faulted. Thanks"

"The hotel was very clean and all staff were very friendly throughout. The choice of food was not always very wide but it was always tasty and well cooked and always local food on offer for the adventurous. The pool was very large and well maintained but not heated! We never saw a drop of rain or that many clouds either! The beach was 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and well worth visiting, but the route to the beach is mainly gravel and dirt tracks. Overall we had a great holiday, would go back there and would recommend the hotel and indeed Travel Republic."

"Cannot fault this hotel, staff were excellent and everything was kept lovely and clean. Although it was busy we always had a table whenever we wanted to eat, there are two patio areas either side of the restaurant so it never felt really crowded. Good choice of food, both hot and cold.

We were lucky to have very hot weather when we were there but the air conditioning is on when you need it and we never felt uncomfortable in our room, which had sun for the majority of the day. We tended to leave our curtains drawn and that meant that the room was reasonably cool when we were getting ready to go out for the evening.

Entertainment was what you would expect and Tommy was excellent at drumming up support for all sorts of activities. My Dad (76) was quite happy to play bingo at the end of the day and the cash prizes were around 170 euros or more for the house most nights. Wobble Quack etc.

Kalamaki as an area is very quiet, very few shops, there are some bars and tavernas but we didn't bother as the food at the hotel was so good. Not sure it would appeal to party animals but Lagana is quite close by.

We went on the half day boat trip to Keri Caves and Turtle Island and this was very good. Went into Zante town but not really worth the effort to be honest.

The only small gripe I had was to do with the sun beds and yes there were some people getting up at 7.30 in the morning to bag a bed and a brollie. It was the same people day in and day out and it was all nationalities doing it so they were all as bad as one another. The hotel had signs over everything and chained the beds until 8.00 am but it didn't stop it.

There was really no need for this sort of behaviour, we would wander down at 10.30 after a leisurely breakfast and there were always still plenty of sun beds available. We took these under the trees and had plenty of lovely natural shade when needed and still just as close to the pool and bar area.

The pool was lovely but watch the last step as it's slightly deeper than the rest and can catch you unawares when you first go in.

Planes do fly over close and low to the hotel but it's not noisy as they are mainly coming in to land. In fact my Dad spent the majority of his holiday trying to get photos of the planes as they came over the hotel. Airport going home wasn't as bad as I expected from previous feedback."

"hotel excellent ,food superb,could not fault in any way. unfortunatly the request for a top floor room with pool view was never recieved by the hotel and at first were put in room on ground rear of reception fortunatly i took all travel republic paperwork with me which stated room request and was moved within five minutes.also we had to share our private transfer not only were the other couple going to different hotel but also different town."

"Not a bad hotel, more like a three star. Rooms were clean, but a little cramped and there was a lot of noise up to 1.30 in the morning. Food was okay, it mainly catered to German tastes, even though the hotel was dominated by english guests. The entertainment programme is okay, nightly bingo, killer pool, darts, water polo, with a kids round followed by adults.
Bars and food points only have one person serving, so be prepared to wait. The morning finds people waiting from 7am(1 hour before breakfast) to get a sunbed."

"Entertainment was fine but not when your trying to sleep. Lots of queueing for meals, not layed out for multiple users, one at a time service. Pool bar, ditto, one person serving a line of people. Ditto other bar, need more staff.
Other than that, very helpful staff, nice clean rooms, good facilities. I would rate it a 3 star."

"The hotel was very nice and clean, staff were excellent and pleasant. The pool is lovely and the weather was fantastic. Downside was not enough sun brollies, however some people have purchased brollies or airbeds and when they leave they are just left at the side of the pool and anyone else can enjoy them so there are always some spare umbrellas that you could take to the beach which is very nice. Food was okay, plenty of it but I would have liked more Greek food. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom so no need to take your own but take beach towels as they do not provide them. The return journey from the airport is a nightmare and you have to stand outside for more than 2 hours before being allowed to check in. Kalamaki itself is rather rustic with lots of building work which seems to have been started but not completed."

"All the family really enjoyed the holiday. A very relaxing week. Hotel was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Towels changed daily and bedding every other day, spotlessly clean. Food was cooked well, but not a huge selection especially for a five year old, who doesn't eat the normal "kiddies food".
There isn't a children a childrens club which would have been nice, but the entertainment team were great. RECCOMMEND IT!"

"Very friendly & helpful staff. Hotel & rooms always kept nice & clean. Sadly, though the food was of a good standard, there was not much choice. The restaurant seemed very crammed in the evenings with tables too close together & if it was too busy you had to wait for a table. You could not pre-book unless you were with a large group."
