"Travelled to Calheta in November. Hotel about 50mins from Funchal airport. Hotel staff very welcoming and friendly and it was easy to find as it is the only one in Calheta and sits on the man made beach. Not much in the way of things to do in the evening, but hotel had entertainment every night which was ok, but nothing stunning. Hotel had indoor pool, sauna, steam room which were all free to use. Rooms clean and made up every day. A nice place for a relax...not a place for excitement."
Top Tip:
"suggest you go half-board - there are very few restaurants near by and the food in the hotel is fine and has good choice of meals. Small supermarket across the road for snacks and things to eat during the day. Take a sea view room - only some shops and a cliff to look at in the front."Calheta Beach Hotel check-in Date:

"This hotel is excellent, but due to its location is better aimed at couples looking for "peach and quiet". The hotel is situated on the beach, but there is not much entertainment around nor many restaurants within close proximity to choose from."
Top Tip:
"Lots of great walks around this area following the lavadas. The Marena restaurant situated in the actual marina serves good food in a very relaxed atmosphere. "Clean, decent accomodation but in no way a 4 star hotel, more like a 3. Tried to fob us off with an 'upgrade' which turned out to be a crummy apartment over a bar 2 hundred yards up the road."

"Very comfortable hotel excellent breakfast and evening meals. Facilities 1st rate. Only one negative...could do with coffe making facilities in rooms... a minor minus from a fantastic stay. Thanks to all at Travel Republic once again for arranging this stay for us."

"Beautiful location and excellent facilities. The hotel is located right on a manmade beach (although the hotel does not own the beach so you have to pay for sunbeds). Breakfast was very good and there is a heated indoor pool if it is too cold for swimming outdoors. Although there is not much nearby, there are a couple of good restaurants and this is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Due to the highway, it is only 30 minutes maximum from Funchal if you're travelling by car."
Top Tip:

"Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Only used the main restaurant for the buffet breakfast which offered a good selection. Tried the other restaurant in the hotel once for an evening meal but it didn't match the superb standard of others in the locality. Hotel always immaculately clean throughout. Swimming pool area has a weird "concrete carbuncle" - apparently part of a water slide which was removed. Didn't try any of the excursions as we had a hire car - strongly recommended for those keen on exploring this enchantingly beautiful island."

"The hotel was fantastic, the staff all spoke 3 or 4 languages very well and we would definitely go back"
