"Lively atmosphere which was ideal for our younger generation."
"For a 2* hotel (which is their official rating)this place is excellent! Rooms are big with loads of space, big balconies and loads of mirrors (great if you're a group of girls getting ready). The hotel is clean and well presented, didn't see a single cockroach! Only a few issues with the room - the safe box is quite small, there isn't an oven (only 2 cooking rings, a toaster, kettle and coffee maker), and there isn't a built in fan - but you can rent these out from reception. Also the lifts are tiny and old fashioned, we could only fit 1 person and 1 suitcase in at once, or 3 people with no suitcases - not good if you're claustrophobic) The staff are pretty much all really helpful, especially Diego (meet him and you will love him!), although if you're coming in at night, be warned that the '24hr' reception isn't strictly true! You can be hanging around waiting for your key for up to half an hour waiting for a member of staff to appear! At the beginning of our stay it was an old man who looked about 70, could barely understand English, and seemed to pop outside for a sit down every time we came back for our room key! By the end of the stay however things got worse as he was replaced by a middle aged English woman who was a right battleaxe! Instead of just giving you your key when you asked for it, she'd have to check your name against a list and take forever doing it, even if you'd just seen her an hour before when you gave your key in! Very annoying. The pool in the hotel is quite nice, not especially large, and not very deep either (it might say it's 1m65.. it's more like 1m50). Another slightly annoying thing is that the majority of the pool area doesn't get sun til about 12 o clock, but then it's sunny all the rest of the day . Location wise this hotel is really good as well, less than 10 minute walk to the main strip of Veronicas and Starco, and about 10mins in the other direction to the nearest beach as well as the main shopping centre. For all your food needs, opposite the hotel is a great (and cheap!) supermarket called HiperDino, definitely go there! So anyway, the California Apts couldn't be in a better location, and for the money you couldn't really ask for much more from a hotel! Wouldn't recommend it for anyone but young groups who enjoying going out and partying, otherwise you could find sleeping difficult as people are coming in and out at all hours of the morning! This hotel isn't very child friendly at all so don't bring your family!"
"did not stay at the califorian aparts booking problem. transfered to compostile beach aparts which were very good large pool ,plenty sun beds, close to safari center and beach would go again"

"California Apartments are very central for the beach, bars, restaurants. Buses and taxi stops are less than 100 yards from the reception area. All staff were very friendly. The apartments were cleaned daily and beds changed 3 times in 10 days. Would recommend this hotel for young people in the summer months and for pensioners and older people in the winter months. We stayed here May 2008 and it was a bit noisy with hen and stag parties but they only stayed for two or three days so they didn't bother us. We have stayed here in January and it is full of mainly 50+ age group, some even staying for a month at a time. Hope to go back to the California Apartments in November 2008."

"As a place in general it is fantastic! Me and my friends loved everything about, althought it is,from what we hear, not the best place to stay we enjoyed it and found the staff hepful a happy and the appartments were kept in a tidy conditon I am returning back to the location and would definatly consider returning to California Apartments as its cheap and pleasent to stay. "WE DIDN'T STAY AT THE CALIFORNIA APARTMENTS BECAUSE THEY INFORMED US ON ARRIVAL THAT YOU DID NOT MAKE A RESERVATION FOR US!! WE ENDED UP STAYING AT THE HOTEL BONANZA WHICH WAS A BETTER HOTEL BUT TOO FAR AWAY FROM OUR ORIGINAL PLACE. WE PHONED YOUR LOCAL NUMBER & WERE PROMISED A PHONE CALL BACK ON 2/1/2008 WHICH WAS NEVER RECEIVED, WE HAVE TO COMMEND THE CORAL HOTEL GROUP FOR DOING EVERTHING THEY COULD TO MAKE FOR A PLEASANT STAY"
"The hotel was very noisy! It was noisier than apartments I have stayed at that have been in the centre of Las Americas! No Good for families at all. We booked the holiday on a separate booking with some friends who were moved to another apartment block due to a problem. This inconvenienced us a great deal ie having to make arrangments to meet up, being at separate locations during the day etc. I would not stay at the California Apartments again and would not recommend them to friends/relatives either! "
"On arrival we were moved to another apartment block due to a 'problem'. The accommodation at the alternative apartments were much better. This was a holiday we had booked separately with some friends who were not moved and remained in the original apartments. We were asked if we want to return to the original apartments a few days later but refused due to the inconvenience of re-packing and unpacking for only the few days we had left of our holiday. Although we enjoyed our holiday, this caused further inconveniences ie sunbathing with our friends and the extra 5 min walk to the apartments, having to make arrangments to meet etc"
"The apartments were very clean and comfortable. The staff however were not very friendly. The hotel bar was closed most of the time. When I asked the receptionist a question they tended to respond bluntly. and when we asked the staff a question it always seemed like to much trouble for them. There was constant music playing within the complex from 10am - 8pm and as they only had one CD this would become very annoying listening to 'Its chico time' nearly 24 hours a day. We never saw any other holiday makers within the bar area and never sampled the food so would not be able to comment. The apartments provided us with a fridge, kettle, toaster, freezer and other home appliances such as a TV, which only had two of the english speaking channels, CNN and Movies for Men (porn). My partener and myself would NEVER return to the apartments and would class the venue as two star accomodation rather than a three star. "

"We found the California Apartments a great base, with a really friendly approach. Staff were very polite and helpful. The pool area was nice, although reclining sunbeds would have been more comfortable than the 'fixed' type. Although the Apartments were having some remodelling in the reception and bar area, it didn't cause any major inconvenience at all. "

"HAD A REALLY GOOD HOLIDAY AT THE CALIFORNIA ...WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE EXPECTED, ROOMS WERE EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY AND KEPT CLEAN BY SOME FABULOUS MAID SERVICE......SUN WAS IN THE POOL AREA FOR ALL OF THE DAY SO SUNBATHING WAS BRILLIANT..WE 4 HAD GOOD TANS TO SHOW OFF AFTER ONLY ONE WEEK...AND ALSO CLOSE TO THE STRIP OF BARS AND CLUBS THAT WE COULD STUMBLE HOME IN A MATTER OF ABOUT 5 MINS BUT YOU DIDNT HEAR ANY OF THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE WHICH WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED...."
