"We arrived at the Camari Gardens very late in the evening but the staff had kindly waited up for us to show us to our room. Our apartment was very large with a big balcony. The accommodation was basic but clean. Our stay was the last week that the hotel was open for the summer so things were very quiet but the staff were very helpfull and arranged bike hire for us. We would definitely use this hotel again. Excellent value for money, really good position for exploring the Island (only an hour over to the south side and lovely beaches). This was our 4th time to Crete and we have previousely stayed twice in beautiful villas (very expensive) and one other apartment (poor) - Camari Garden rates highly."

"A really lovely large, clean room with marble floors and good self catering facilities. The hotel is a bit out of the way and I would definitely advise hiring a car if you're going to stay here unless you want to spent all your time at the (very lovely!) pools."

"Had a good spacious apartment with basic cooking facility.
The resort was very nicely laid out, with patio or balcony to enjoy the sun, 2 clean pools, and on-site Spar mini-market.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Superb value at under £15 per night, the best we had during our week touring Crete."

"Camari Garden Apartment Hotel is a lovely complex set in a beautiful position on the edge of Gerani village, a 10 minute up hill walk away. There are some tavernas in the village which were very quiet when we visited near the end of the season in October (they'd be fine for a large-ish group but we'd have felt lonely if we'd been the only two visitors), so we restricted our eating to the excellent restaurant at Camari Garden and cooking in our apartment. The family who own Camari Garden are very nice, friendly and helpful, as were their staff, and the whole complex was spotlessly clean.

Camari Garden is a little isolated, but many people seemed to enjoy sunbathing by the pools or visiting the small, sheltered, pebble beach 10 minutes walk away. We hired a car for most of our visit, but twice used the bus to visit Rethymno, which was easy, though timetables do run on GMT (Greek maybe time) as we were warned. It would have been just as easy to bus to Hania, which is well worth a visit - both towns are lovely. Better beaches could also be reached by bus.

The bar and restaurant were enough entertainment for us, but younger people might have preferred somewhere a little livelier - maybe Rethymno would have provided that, a bus or taxi ride away.

Camari Garden is excellently positioned for visiting most of the Rethymno prefecture by car. The region has fantastic scenery, some lovely villages, and many ancient sites well worth visiting, some in beautiful settings."

"Fantastic holiday. Felt like I was leaving my best friends behind when I left. Only 10 mins by bus into Rethymnon, a bit further other way to good beaches. Two pools at hotel and a good beach bar/sanck bar at hotel."

"Very clean rooms, friendly staff . Holidays makers have been going back twice a year some as long as 20 years. No entertainment so everyone chats and gets to know each other. 8 euros in taxi 1 euro on bus to town where there are nice beaches and bars."

"We have stayed at Camari gardens before and love it!!It has everything on site including 2 pools,restaurant and supermarket.If you hire a car as we do, it is very centrally positioned for the whole island.If you choose to stay on site,everything is catered for and the family that own and run it cannot do enough for you.Its not suitable for people with walking difficulties as it is on a hill and there are quite a few steps.It is a very quiet area to stay in with beautiful views of the sea and mountains,and close enough to the main towns for nightlife if that is what you like to do.Its approx 8 euros into Rethymnon town and a lot of people share taxis from Camari gardens.The apartments are spotless and cleaned every day bar sundays,and as even the cleaning ladies are family it makes for a very warm and welcoming holiday."

"Camari garden was beautiful. Quiet, clean, friendly. The hotel is about a 10 min taxi ride from rethymon but that wasnt a problem for us as taxis are very quick and reasonable price plus there is a bus during the day.
The hotel bar does food anyway which is delicious and very well priced.
Beach in rethymon is beautiful and sea is warm.
restaurants were all great but special mention must go to THE LEMON TREE. greeat food, great wine, great manager who really took the time with us and even ended up sitting with us for a while after one of our visits telling us stories and amazing us with his great memory as well as plying us with free wine and shots.
All restaurants were very well priced and food was faultless.
Defiantely try the seafood, i wasnt keen before i went but i have been converted after tasting the fresh catch.
overall I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who wants a chilled holiday in a beautiful place with very friendly people.
We will DEFINATELY go back."

"Had a lovely stay at the Camari Gardens , the family are lovely and the apartments are spotless. Only downside it is really remote , no bars or beaches nearby . The closest town is 10 minutes in a taxi but costs 16 euros there and back !! Wasn't happy with the transfer pick up on the way back to the airport as made over 10 stops and took 3 hours to get there ! It only took 1 1/2 hours on the way there by Shuttle Bus"

"The hotel was chosen purely from reading previous reviews. We can honestly say that the hotel lived up to those reviews and met our every expectation. The place is extremely clean and well run by the family team. Not many places deserve a return visit, but this is a certainty. Our room had all that you'd expect, along with a balcony that overlooked one of the onsite pools as well as a sea view."

"This was a return visit to this accommodation so we knew what to expect. Your rating of 4 star hotel is inaccurate. These are apartments with minimal self catering facilities but that doesn't matter because there is a lovely restaurant on site with reasonably priced food. If you want a holiday doing nothing but soaking up the sun then these apts are recommended. It is extremely quiet and isolated so wouldn't be suitable for teenagers if they want a lot going on. My husband and I are over 50 and this was a perfect holiday for us to chill out. Would certainly go again."

"We were very impressed by the quality, standard of maintenance and cleanlines of the
apartments and the public areas and pools(e.g. bed linen changed frequently, starter pack-charged for-good air conditioning, cleaning of pool and sun beds). Although not many restaurants near the site the Camari served very good quality Greek and international food and drink and provided a well-stocked on site supermarket, both facilities at very reasonable prices and didn't exploit their near-monopoly. Easy to get to Rethymnon by taxi or bus for restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Definitely the best self catering location we've stayed at."
