"The Casa De Alvor is a small complex which gave us a great value for money stay. At the time of year we went (end of October) there were very few guests and the reception area was seldom open. On the negative side the maid service was virtually non-existent and we had to ask for toilet rolls and clean towels. The apartment was not cleaned or bedding changed during the week we spent there although this wasn't really a problem. On the positive side the apartment was clean and tidy when we arrived and was well provided with crockery and cutlery as well as having plenty of cupboard space with a large fridge, a microwave and twin ring hob. There were also ample pillows and blankets for four people. The bathroom, although not very large, was well equipped although the ceiling was very discoloured from damp/condensation. The small balcony held a small table and two chairs which were not very clean at all. The complex is situated very handily for all the local amenities, the main shopping and eating areas being just a five minute stroll away (once you find the short-cut) and it also boasts a very nice swimming pool provided with sunloungers in front of the reception area where there is also a small bar and lounge. Overall it gave great value for the money we paid and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone planning a holiday on a limited budget - certainly I would be happy to go again."

"GOOD BASIC FACILITIES ALTHOUGH LIGHTING IN APARTMENT WAS POOR IN THE DARK EVENINGS. EXCELLENT SWIMMING POOL. EXCELLENT CUP OF COFFEE POOLSIDE!
VERY CLEAN APARTMENT.
EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM STAFF. OWNER PROVIDED TOASTER AND ELECTRIC KETTLE FREE OF CHARGE.
WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN - FAR ENOUGH FROM TOWN TO BE QUIET, BUT NEAR ENOUGH TO ACCESS ALL FACILITIES."

"No welcome as such when we arrived just given the key and told where our room was, the balcony never got any sun at any time of the day, we asked to move but was told nothing available although the place was almost empty. No hot water in the kitchen area, reported to owner on second day but never got fixed. No toaster to make toast, complained and was told if she could get one we could hire it! (thought this was a self catering apartment!) Room cleaning was sporadic and beds never made. In the end we left two days early and found better accomodation. Would never go back to this place."

"Very poor attention from the staff, we were not advised as to when towels were to be changed until we asked. In the whole two weeks the bedding was not changed and the apartment was not cleaned. We went self catering, 2 adults and 1 child, there was no kettle, not even a pan to boil water, luckily we had brought our own travel kettle. We got a toaster after requesting one. There were 2 cups and saucers and one mug, 3 each of plates and dishes, all of which were dirty and needed washing before we could use them. The lock was very difficult to open and when I asked about this was told "we do not lock our doors"! The lock was sprayed with a lubricant and then worked fine. The shower was very difficult to work as part of it was broken and the toilet was filthy. The staff were only available until around 5.opm and then the bar etc. was locked up and there were no contact details for emergencies. We were in room 106 and the balcony was unusable due to the positionin of the air conditioning unit. We did not see the point in taking anything further up with the staff as the attitude was definitely couldn't care less."

"i have travelled with travel republic on many occasions and have never been disappointed. the casa d'alvor is very basic accomodation but well worth the money.it was a prime spot for bars and restaurants only 5mins walk. about 20mins to the beach but a nice walk.the pool at the casa d'alvor was very nice and clean and the staff were lovely and very helpful.this was our first time in portugal and we really enjoyed it will definitely be going back again and using travel republic again. we also booked transfers with travel republic lovely little mini bus and timing was spot on."

"Although I requested not a ground floor apartment that is exactly what we were given. I know this cannot be gauranteed. The receptionist said that she was fully booked but it did not appear to us that way. The apartment was OK but it was very difficult to open the door and the balcony was disappointing. It was just enough to squeeze two people onto the balcony and it never got the sun as we were at the back of the apartments. If this is supposed to be an apartment for 4 people the balcony was not big enough.
Also the crockery was inadequate."

"NICE, CLEAN, LIGHT & AIRY APARTMENT IN A PLEASANT QUIET LOCATION, JUST A PITY OUR ROOM OVERLOOKED A HUGE BUILDING SITE WHERE WORK COMMENCED 8.30 AM UNTIL EVENING,CONSEQUENTLY NO SITTING OUT ON THE TINY BALCONY, DUE TO THE DUST & NOISE. WE REQUESTED A MOVE , BUT WERE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER APARTMENTS AVAILABLE. MOST OF THESE APARTMENTS MUST BE PRIVATELY OWNED,AS THERE WERE ONLY ABOUT 20 PEOPLE IN THE COMPLEX. A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS ie BLOCKED BATHROOM SINK.........SORTED OUT, NO PROBLEM. VERY FRIENDLY,PLEASANT STAFF. APARTMENTS ARE IN EASY,WALKABLE DISTANCE FROM THE EXCELLENT RESORT OF ALVOR........WOULD NOT BE PUT OFF USING THESE APARTMENTS AGAIN"

"It was exactly as we expected - 5 minute walk into lovely old town where there are plenty of nice restaurants and bars. Basic apartment well maintained - we were at the back which was very quiet but no view. Nice pool at the front. long walk to beach. We stayed 4 nights which was long enough in the alvor casa but we would definitely return to Alvor itself."

"A small apartment complex with pool bar, pool and sunbeds. The reception/bat staff are extemely friendly and helpfull. It is in a quiet area and not overlooked by other properties. The one bed apartments are 'cosy' and would be a tight squeeze for four adults but my husband I found it ideal for the two of us. The kitchen facilites were a bit sparse if you did want to 'self-cater' but are fin for breakfast and preparing snacks. The air-conditioning was a welcome addition to the facilites, and it was certainly needed when we stayed there in June. The apartment is just across the road form the top of the village and ideal as you are only a short walk from all the bars and restaurants that Alvor has to offer. The beach is a good 10/15 mins walk away but as we had a car that was no problem. The complex is spotless and we would stay there again."

"Nice,clean,and modern. Very friendly staff. Ideal for young families, or couples wanting to be very close to the centre of Alvor. Approx. 5 mins to centre, but a good 20 mins walk to the beach. Bar served decent snacks and drinks. Nice quite location, however some work clearing a building plot behind these apartments has just commenced which did produce some slight disturbance. These apartments are great value for the quality."

"Excellent value and a good location - be aware that it is quite far to the beach but the apartments are a mere stroll away from the many restaurants and bars in Alvor. Casa d'Alvor is a great base for driving to the various nearby beaches. The apartments are in a quiet residential street and probably most suitable for couples looking to chill - a few Portugese families pitch up at the weekend. The pool is kept sparkling clean. The apartments are also very clean with towels and sheets changed three times a week."

"owner speaks good english but other staff with a little help managed. the rooms here are spotlessly clean. we have stayed at these apartments for the last 3yrs and have found them to be excellant base for staying in alvor,just 2 mins walk to the centre and 20 mins walk to the huge beach. the pool is ample size and theres a small bar area ,only open until 6.00pm."
