"The Castri Hotel in Delphi has rooms with a wonderful view of the Gulf of Corinth and the owner gave a recommendation for a great and inexpensive local taverna, the Bacchus. But the hotel had its serious downsides. On day 1 the room heater worked fine, on day 2, not at all and operating it was completely unfathomable. The breakfast menu was dipped in bronze - coffee, bread, butter, marmelade packs, cold hardboiled eggs of unknown age and provence.
The room had only 2 very old three pin wall sockets, one of which didn't work and we had to charge mobile phones in the lobby below, where they had normal European wall sockets. The room TV (Satellite!) worked, but showed only Greek stations, and not even CNN. French, German or Italian channels would have been fine, but Greek channels are dire - so we were cut off from world events."
Top Tip:
"The Bacchus Taverna in Delphi is quite enchanting. The two sons of the owner who wait at table are soft-spoken, polite, helpful - a rare occurrence in Greece. The prices were lower than those found at fast food places and the food was Greek, varied, tasty and plentiful."

Property Summary

Location

The rooms vary in size and are furnished in a basic and functional style, that gives the feeling of a private home rather than a hotel. All are spotlessly clean and fresh, some have stunning views to all the way to the sea and others to the quiet street below. All rooms have air conditioning and TV as standard. There are a number of rooms in the converted loft, with wood panelling and a chalet feeling about them.

The breakfast room is small but cozy, and the area doubles as a bar where guests can have a coffee or refreshment.

The hotel is an ochre coloured 2 storey building with balconies, a few steps from the street lead to the main wood and glass entrance.

This is a fantastic family run property that will satisfy all guests with its down to earth quality (EP 05/08)
