  • JOHN from ONCHAN reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "THis was our 3rd trip to Sharme and the 1st time we have stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It states 4 star but is really more like a British 3 star. We booked all inclusive I would advise strongly against this as you can only take your meals in the one restaurant which is very busy - not very clean and the hot food is not up to much, along with the all inclusive drinks you only get local wine, draught beer and water all served in glasses in the restaurant and plastic disposible cups around the pool area, if you want bottles you have to pay extra.
The two bedroom family suite we booked was not clean and the furniture very worn and tatty, as we arrived late due to delays I took it up with reception in the morning. We were given a junior suite which was clean and acceptable. Would strongly advice booking a club room as this gives you access to the club lounge where you get breakfast and free soft drinks (in bottles or cans)daily and in the evening 2 hour cocktail bar. The location of the hotel for snorkling/scuba diving is fantastic."

  • Top Tip:

"Great location for scuba diving/snorkling. When going into Naama bay walk outside of the hotel to get a taxi you have to haggle with the drivers but donot pay more than 30 egyptian pounds and on the return no more than 25 egyptian pounds"

  • Nanina Brochmann from Manchester reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "The hotel was brilliant - everything work really well. Except - there was always a big queue to be seated in the restaurant, and the food on the buffet was sometime not being made quick enough. What was great however was that we were on half board and we could you our food vouchers for either lunch or dinner.

There is no beach, however there are two jettis and the water is amazing!! There are 4 swimming pools at the resort, and loads of sun beds near the water, so plenty to do. Make sure however that you get up early to put your towels done - otherwise the good spots are gone.

    Highly recommendable!!"

  • Top Tip:

"Make sure you do some trips. A taxi ride to the Old Market is no more than 30 Egyptian pounds, and well worth it. Dahab is great too, as is Nabq Bay if you like Kite surfing or windsurfing."

  • C from CHESTER reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "If you expect Egyptian 5*, not British 5*, then you won't be disappointed.
Good facilities and very attentive service. Plus the snorkelling is great!!
However if you are not all inclusive the prices are very high e.g. UK£2 per bottle of water, soft drink and meal UK£10-20. Other extras also expensive e.g. 50 min sports massage 65 euros. Also their is music blaring out most of the morning and afternoon by the pool/beach so you may want to take ear plugs!"

  • Top Tip:

"There are 3 shuttle services to Naama Bay a day: 15.00-17.00, 17.00-19.00, 22.00-23.30 (out and back). If you want to spend a bit longer, book yourself on (they fill up quickly), take a taxi to Namma Bay (E£20) then get the shuttle back. This way you only have to haggle once."

  • Nik from Dubai reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "What a wonderful hotel, the beach views from the apartment were fantastic. The pool was blinding, along with great restaurants and bars.

The all inclusive deal was just fine, but I do prefer imported beer so paid for a few on top. Watch out for the cost of spirits 25 GBP for 2 double jack daniels and cokes is very, very steep even for this part of the world but its not really the end of the world.

Being charged for the pool table on the bill at the end was a bit of surprise but it was only 2 quid.

And for the money we paid for the hotel - we really can't grumble less than 80 quid for 2 nights room and full board in a five star hotel? Blinding."

  • Top Tip:

"It's not a great resort for single guys as the whole place was full of couples - and as we work in Saudi that was a bit disappointing.

The Hard Rock Cafe and Little Buddha bars are the most popular places to hang out in the evening - they were heaving when our hotel disco was err... empty.

Haggle for everything, and particularly with taxi drivers and market stalls."

  • K from STOCKTON ON TEES reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "The hotel complex was excellent, with 5 swimming pools and several bars and eating establishments. The best thing was the coral reef at the end of the complex. It was so wonderful to walk down the steps of the hotel complex and there was a reef full of fish available with no cost, no hassle and no expensive boat trip. The staff were generally very pleased to help and did not appear to be waiting for tips. They were friendly and polite and there was always some one around to help out. I would recommend this as an excellent holiday venue, if you want a relaxing holiday. And the cakes for lunch and dinner were wonderful and changed every time."

  • Ann from Bristol reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "A lot of thought went into the design & layout of this hotel, it was very attractive, tasteful & very clean. Our room location was perfect, lovely garden area & pool. Due to the hotel being built on a cliff there were a large number of steps, but we were aware of this prior to travelling.

Generally the staff were all very helpful & friendly. We personally found the 'animation' music & talking from the huge speakers next to the beach intrusive & far too loud, when trying to relax. We could hear them even when we were quite a distance from the beach on our terrace.

The food was generally acceptable. However, we did find the choice quite limited and during our second week did find it a little boring. As we were half board we had to purchase water @ £2.50 per bottle!

Some of the sunbeds positioned on the staggered terraces were rather cramped, but comfortable. The floating jettys were a little awkward when crowded, but well worth the effort once in the sea. The underwater world was amazing & for us the whole point of the trip!"

  • Amani from Upminster reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "Room service was good, though rooms were smaller than expected. Food was below average, long walking distances and lots of stairs, not suitable for old and artheritic people. Limited sea view, but the best coral to see, best place for snorkling. Too much security, long walking distance from the gate to the reception, this became very painful at the end."

  • Sadiq from Preston reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "I have just returned from an 8 nights stay at the Crown Plaza in Sharm el Sheikh. I went with my wife and two kids, aged 5 & 4.

It was a excellent holiday. The Hotel was very good, and the staff were excellent.

When I arrived the rooms were ready and we were escorted to our rooms via a buggy.

The rooms were basic, maybe of a four star quality, but not bad - the decor was North African.

The surroundings of the hotel was really beautiful and pleasant. The staff were really friendly and always had a smile.

The food was ok - some days it was good some days, it was not - but they had a lot of variety. The Deserts were excellent. They did provide us with French Fries for free, when we had dinner, which was good for the kids. One thing to take note is that drinks are not included in the half board meals. Drinks are quite expensive in the hotel.

What we used to do is go to Naama Bay and buy plenty of drinks and bring them with us to dinner. We saved a lot of money this way.

The rooms get cleaned every day.

The sunbeds near the pools and the beach do get taken (people put towels on them quite early) so ensure you do the same, if you are planning to use one.

There are a lot of Russians in the hotel, but I did not really have a problem with them.

Make use of the shuttle buses that do to Naama Bay - they are free.

Food is cheaper in Naama Bay.

There is a beach at the hotel, but not the normal beach (with waves coming in). It's on a cliff area, so its great for snorkling.

The Egyptians will try to lure you into shops, so if your not interested, don't go into the shops.

Book your tours through Gammal (Situated at the beach). Mahmood speaks very good English and is very helpful. We did the Safari (including Camel Riding and Snorkling) which was excellent.

We also went to the Cleo Park (Water Park). The kids loved it. We also went for a trip on the glass bottom boat. If you don't snorkel, its a great way to see the corals and the fish.

On your return, ensure you book the hotel shuttle for the airport. This is free and it will save you money.

Please note - Sweets and Confectionary's are very expensive in Sharm (more than double the prices here) - so if you have children - take your own.

The weather is quite hot, and is getting hotter every day.

If you are half board - Gym is free but you have to pay for Sauna, Steam etc

For the money paid, I still think it is excellent value for money and would recommend to all."

  • Top Tip:

"1. I had read previous reviews and ensured that I got a Taxi for no more than 70 Egyptian pounds (£7), though I had to haggle. State that you come every year and you know the prices. Walk away if someone says no as you will find another or they will say ok.

    2. Make sure you do not pay more than 25 egyptian pounds to and from a Taxi to Naama Bay.

    3. The Exchange rates in Egypt are a lot better, nearly 1 Egyptian pound more to a pound, so only take enough for a taxi (£20 is more than enough). There is a bank at the hotel, which offers very good rates.

    4. Book your tours through Gammal (Situated at the beach). Mahmood speaks very good English and is very helpful."

  • Grant from St Albans reviewed the Intercontinental Crowne Plaza Hotel

  • "Compared to other hotels just outside of Sharm, the Crowne Plaza was attractive and comfortable. However the hotel and staff seemed unable to cope with the number of guests even though it was half full. The buffet meals were disappointing and there were never enough beach loungers. On a positive note the other restaurants in the hotel had very pleasant atmospheres and all the meals were well prepared and tasty, so don't bother with the all inclusive package and rather pay for meals. A massage at the spa was surprisingly good however the facilities were tired and not all that clean. An attractive hotel but it should really not be 5 star."

  • Top Tip:

"Snorkelling up and down the coast in front of the hotel, especially early in the morning when visibility is at its best, is spectacular. The number of fish species that seem unconcerned with all the bathers is surprising. For even more spectacular diving, a day trip is worthwhile. If this is your first time in Egypt the sights of Cairo are amazing but make sure you go with a reputable agency as EVERYONE is trying to make money off you! It is sad that such an interesting destination is marred by the many people who will try anything to part you from your money. If possible do not speak English and all but the most persistent hawkers will give up without too much hassle."

  • "The hotel was meant to be all inclusive but you could only eat in one of the 4 restaurants there. This was served on a buffett basis and the food was not the best. You could only get drinks from set bars at set times and the ice cream was served to you in a plastic cup. I asked for a cone one day and they had no idea what I was going on about. The hotel was very nice and I would recommend this to anyone. I would reco
