Robert Harold from Stockport reviewed the Djadsal Holiday Resort Hotel
"On arriving at Sal we felt it was going to be a different type of holiday to what we are used to but in a positive way, The hotel was very clean, staff were brilliant from the reception to the pool maintenance man!!
The swimming pool had a bit of a problem but they were on to it straight away, the flies around the Lido bar were abit of a nuisance but you did get used to them?
The animation team were all fantastic and the On site nurse was a god send, she was very attentive, friendly, always available and very cheap!!
Our bungalow was great, spacious, clean and had a safe which was great. We didnt need to take beach/pool towels you got them free from reception!
The restaurant times were really good and the food was lovely, loads to choose from each meal time.
The beach was practically 2 mins walk from our pool and it was lovely, The hotel security lads were always there keeping there eye on their hotel customers which was nice.
We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone, it was fantastic!!
The flight was really good too, there was plenty of leg room and the kids just watched movies and Ben 10 all the way there whist we played the in flight computer games!!!
The food was lovely too."

"We only ventured out of the hotel a couple of times at night because the children didnt want to miss the show in the hotel! We had a good night in thew Funana bar which is on the walkway from our hotel along the beach towards the pier, they play 60's, 70's, 80,s and 90's english music.
We got a taxi into Sant Maria to the well talked about Tam Tam bar which was quiet but nice! (taxi cost approx 4 euros each way!)"

"Bar Staff, Reception, and other Staff friendly and helpful. However the entertainment people were a pain, noisy and intrusive.
Food was good and catered for our tastes with a good selection of dishes.
Most people we spoke to thought that a week was sufficient at the resort as there is little of interest besides the beach, the pool and the bar!

"Don't bother going into Santa Maria, too much hassle from street sellers, and a tour of the Island confirms what a vast building site it is. Great place to set up a plastic recycling centre."

"Although the pool area needs an update the rest was excellent - food very good and varied, staff lovely and very helpful and the rooms were very clean with fresh linen every day."

Gary from Derby reviewed the Djadsal Holiday Resort Hotel
"Having read reviews before we went we were expecting a mare of a hoilday. Quite the reverse happened. The hotel was no where near as poor as previously reviewed, although it could benefit from repainting in areas, the furniture around the pool, bar and courtyard were all great (some being replaced as we stayed). The entertainment team were always around organising various activities i.e. volleyball, tabletennis, aerobics, dance water polo - join in its fun.
The rooms were very clean and cleaned daily. The public areas were all clean and well maintained. The pool needs some work doing but it was fine for a swim.
The food was lovely and in the week we were there there was no repeat of menu. A wide choice available both lunch and evening.
We are planning our next trip back and want to stay for a fortnight- it was so relaxing and friendly."

"We read many bad comments about this hotel before our holiday and if you expect 5* luxury you will be disappointed. However the rooms are clean, the food is good, there are clean towels daily and clean sheets regularly. It is quite noisy (music) around the pool, but who needs the pool when the beach is so wonderful? "

"hotel looking very tired.. I know there is a shortage of water on the island but there is no need to water all the vgitation arround the hotel with the contents of the septic tanks..... ie sewage water .. It stank foul !!!!!! Beaches are fantastic and sea is superb.... Restaurants are generally very poor and expensive.. Only found one decent restaurant in santa maria"

"Reasonable hotel but Sal a desolate island with no meaningful sightseeing opportunities so 7 days spent entirely at the hotel/beach (which was ok). Santa Maria experiencing alot of development so a bit of a building site. Hotel was ok and would class as 3 star. Pool area a bit tired and whole hotel probably needs a decec`. "

Philip from Bradford on Avon reviewed the Djadsal Holiday Resort Hotel
"I would not rate this hotel as a 4 star, it was very basic. Room had bed, table, small tv (that we were unable to retune), built in wardrobe & aircon. No chairs or bedside lights. No plug in bathroom basin and despite requests still didn't have one before we left. What it did have were hundreds of ants - but to be fair they were dealt with promptly by a maid with a large can of insect killer!
Food was entirely geared for Italian visitors with endless pasta, pizza and rice."

"The hotel had a disco bar that was not part of the hotel but was at the end of the hotel next to the beach. This started at midnight and went on with very loud music until 4 am. It was so noisy that we asked to be moved to allow us to get some sleep !!!! The hotel were very helpful in this which suggests they have an ongoing problem. The hotel staff tried very hard, spotlessly clean and good standard of food but the whole place needed up grading albeit that there was eviodence of this starting to be done with various un obtrusive ground works etc."
Top Tip:
"THERE ARE NO RESTAURANTS IN SANTA MARIA !!! only the hotels. This was a great disappointment and sums up our view of Cape Verde - Overrated, infrastructure to cater for tourists non existant, and a great big building site where all the new developments are GOING to be ie currently cranes, breeze blocks and general chaos. The beach at Sanat Maria was fantastic in photos but the reallity of sitting on the beach and getting sand blasted the whole time was not mentioned in any brochures !!!! Would not recommend to any one and will not visit the islands again. By the way Sandiago was even worse "!!!!"
