"For what we paid we did not expect too much but it was better than I expected, previous reviews stated that the food was not too good but actually it was OK, as we both like to dance we enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings espicilly the flamenco show. The room was basic and small but we did not expect to have to hire a TV if needed.
Staff were good and the hotel gerally clean I especilly liked the restauraunt where the tables were cleared very quickly.
Please read my post on TripAdvisor regarding the "Bird S*** Trick"."

"Very clean room, nice hotel. Carlos rules!!!"

"As usual the Villa Flamenca provided good accommodation, food, entertainment and helpful, friendly staff."

"Great buffet breakfast."

"Hotel is basic - but pretty good value for what we paid. Staff very helpful; room not large but clean and serviced every day . Bathroom is rather on the small side - and the shower , though powerful enough, didn't stay on its mounting and couldn't be varied at all. Balcony just about ok for two, but afforded a great view over the whitewashed houses to the mountains beyond. Breakfast - plenty of choice.
No air con - so although it was fine for October, wouldn't like to try it at the height of summer! Not really in the town centre - but it is fairly convenient for a reasonable walk both to the nearest beach and to the town proper... could be a bit of a trek for people with any mobility problems. All in all pretty good !"

"Hotel very friendly. Small rooms and reasonably good food. Price very reasonable."

"The first important point to get to Nerja is knowing how to get there. Malaga airport is being expanded and the first challenge is getting from the Airport to the A-7 motorway. Local maps are not to be trusted, the map I had showed the A-7 as the N340. I’m fairly confident they are the same road (not to be confused with the N340a which hugs the coast). The tip is to follow signs for Motril/Almeria on the motorway and the journey by car is less than 50 miles. My second tip is to check that there are no festivals in Nerja. Villa Flamenca Hotel has on-street parking. We arrived in the middle of Nerja fair which took place between 9 – 13 October 2008. The fair uses the main car park in the town which means that people attending the fair park all over the town. When I arrived there was no parking available near the hotel. Nerja has a ring road (with roundabouts) and the Villa Flamenca Hotel is inside this ring road. I had to park outside the ring road. However it was downhill from where I parked the car to the hotel. Not a problem if your suitcase has wheels.
I like the Villa Flamenca Hotel. I heard a few people complain when I was there, but I think it provides good value for money. I think the key is to compare the hotel with a similar three star hotel, it will not compare favourably with a four or five star hotel (that’s the point of star rating). The lobby is nice and consistent with the Andalusian theme. The rooms are not that big. There is nowhere to set your case (the floor works for me) and limited drawers for your belongings (again not an issue for me as I never unpack and work from the case). I suppose I like a fridge – but that’s the price of staying in a hotel. October is well off season, but the Villa Flamenca Hotel appeared to be full. It is keenly priced. I get the impression that our block (rooms starting with 6) is newer than other parts of the hotel. We had something that appeared to be air conditioning (not needed in October). Other rooms appeared to have roof fans.
The beach is fairly close at approx 150 metres and yes, it is downhill. It is also fair to say that a few of the hotel guests will remember rationing. The town (and the Balcony of Europe) is fairly close if you take the correct directions. The Thompson information book tells you to take a left out of reception (great if you want a walk). The second wrong way is to go down to the beach as you will have to ascend a steep set of steps to get back into the town. Third tip, walk out of reception, take first right and next right. Walk about 75m until you come to a road (with two way traffic). Look left and you will see a fountain – walk down to the fountain and further directions should be intuitive (because you are in the town).
After the fair was over I was able to park the car at the hotel.
Some people complained about the food. I thought it was okay and particularly liked the house wine, a Roija at €10. I would never eat every night in the hotel in any event and I suppose if I did I might also complain (but I would complain if I had to eat anywhere every night). The food is okay but a meal(s) in the town is a must. If you feel that you should eat on the cheap because you have already paid for half board – the set menus in town are great at €18pp for a three course meal incl a bottle of wine. There is also plenty of scope to eat a la carte. Sea food is a must although the mussels are not as good as home.
All in all I enjoyed Nerja and hope to return to both Nerja and the Villa Flamenca Hotel."

"we liked it so the hotel is not the greatest, the food is not the best and the evening entertainment is o.k. but we did'nt pay 5 star money! the staff were very good and the people who were staying there[mostly middle aged]were very freindly and smart the walk to the nearest beach, not far,and the return can be demanding for the less able Nerja is a clean town with enough eateries and bars choose to come here at festival time"

"3rd time at this hotel, we were given complimentary bottle of wine as staff recognised us! Its not the plushest by any means but is always clean and tidy and is more than adequate for us.The staff are so friendly and helpful."

"Hotel Villa represents good value for money. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and I would reccommend a stay here to anybody. We will be returning in April 2009."

"A great hotel for the price, located in a lovely quiet area but within easy walking distance to the balcon de europa and all the restaurants and bars in that area. Lovely spanish style reception and public areas, lovely pool area and restaurant, but rooms could do with a little T.L.C. but overall would recomend this hotel especially for the price."

"food was very good apart from their inability to cook decent vegetables"

"We had a lovely holiday at Villa Flamenca Hotel in Nerja. The Staff were all very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We stayed bed and breakfast, the food was very good lots of choices and of a good quality a great start to the day.The hill down to the beach is rather steep but its only a short hill and the beach is wonderful so its well worth it.Our hotel room was clean and comfortable."

"Excellent hotel but needs air conditioning in all bedrooms during the summer months. Hotel situated on a steep hill which should be incorporated into the hotel description. Also, a lack of parking facilities, it is all on street parking. Again, not incorporated in the description."

"another great week!!!! weather gorgeous, hotel great staff superb, Ayos paella great, Jose poorly, loads of vino and mucho sol!!! Get out there but dont tell anyone!!!!!!!!!"

"very pretty hotel with a lovely pool area with plenty shaded areas. food was average. En tertainment every night varied from average to very good, we particularly enjoyed Flamenco dancers. Room did not have air con, but was clean and comfortable. During our stay there was a wide range of ages, all seeming to be enjoying themselves.
It was very relaxing, laid back, staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English.
We would go back to this hotel."

"Good Clean Hotel"

"Hotel was very quaint, the staff were excellent and although the rooms were cleaned daily they could have benfitted from a quick dust and air conditioning rather than a fan."

"Lovely traditional Spanish Hotel. Friendly staff, food excellent and very clean."

"This was our 4th stay at the Villa Flamenca, we always enjoy our stay but the hotel is looking a little tired, it could do with a face lift, but other that that a great base to explore Nerja."
