"To be honest, the hotel and resort were fantastic, however the hotel restaurant prevented me from putting "excellent" above. The food was lovely, however the restaurant had no organisation. The restaurant was always busy with very few staff (2 or 3 waiters). The tables were never cleared. In fact I had to ask the waiters to clear them. There were too many tables for 6 or more people whereas most couples don't want to share a table. Therefore there were large tables with just 2 people sat at them. I would like to see a queing system in operation and staff showing you to a clear table.

Although the rooms, pool, food and location are well worthy of a 4 star hotel, I have been in nicer restaurants in 2 star hotels. Unless the restaurant changes, I would award the hotel an overall 3 star plus."

"The position of the hotel could not be better. The shops and restaurants were literally across the road. However, most nights the evening meal was fine, not excellent but adequate. The area around the hotel suited us as a couple, plenty of shops, lovely walks and so near to a beautiful cove.
Would return to the resort, perhaps not to the same hotel because of the lack of entertainment and the somewhat disorganised restaurant in the hotel. As far as service from the staff is concerned one couldn't fault it, nor the general cleanliness of the whole hotel. Would suggest that it is nearer agood three star rather than a four."

"I do not feel that this hotel is four star. The entertainment available was poor and was not on every night.
Food was very good and the hotel clean, but it did have a smell of damp within the reception area."

"Enjoyed the hotel very much with standards generally high and pleasant staff. Choice of food excellent and located in central position close to beach, shops and restaurants without being noisy.

Only drawbacks were that availability of restaurant tables at peak breakfast times was occasionally a problem and the pool lifeguard's insistance that no inflatables or lilos were allowed in the swimming pool was a disappointment to many children."

"Excellent, staff great! Food of the highest class...great Hotel..... Will use travel republic again this year.

Only one down side was trying to book the taxi on the Saturday before coming away, the phone line was constanly engaged. Other than that see you all again SOON."

"hotel staff were very good left night buffet open when I arrived @ 11pm.car park very small & cannot book space costs approx 2 euros p.d to park in street.We stayed half board food was ok.rooms small but cleaned every day.pool small for size of hotel but gradually went from baby pool to max 2m so good for kids with varies swimming abilities.Had to be up in peak season by 8am to secure a sunbed as limited parasols.Snack food good value & bar staff were lovely! No fridge or coffee making facilities in room so take a travel kettle! & was awkward with heat not being able to grab a drink of water when wanted in room.
overall very good 3* as others have said not 4*"

"The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, varied and plenty of it. The rooms were cleaned daily. At night the surrounding night activities all closed at 12 am so at least you knew you would be getting some piece and quiet then otherwise I suggest you take ear plugs if you fancy an early night, like we did. There were no towels handed out at the pool though so you have to take your own."

"Clean and pleasant hotel. Breakfast OK but not much choice for evening meal. Consequently we ate out. Nice pool and bar area and staff where very helpful.

Overall we had a nice stay although I would class this as a high end 3 star rather than a 4 star hotel"

"This is our third stay at the Tucan Hotel and we would not hestitate to go back again. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful and the food is lovely. Everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained. It would not attract teenagers (those preferring the 18-30 Magalluf style holiday!) but there was a good mix of families and young couples as well as older people. There is less entertainment than there was a few years ago and it certainly is geared more to the 'older' generation!"

"We visited the hotel with our two children aged 16 & 19 whilst UK schools were still open and found that the hotle was ideal for a relaxing holiday. I do not think this hotel is geared-up for younger children."

"Excellent time, really enjoyed it, however food in the evening was a bit dissappointing. I really wanted a hot dinner when i got home.

"The Hotel was quite pleasant but let down by the poor quality of the food. The breakfast was just acceptable if you wanted a continetal breakfast. Cooked food was very poor and low quality.

The Evening meal was the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel I have stayed in. The food was "cheap, cheap, cheap" and preparation & cooking was not up to a 1 star hotel let alone 4 star. It appeared the catering staff were either very inexperienced, not qualified at all and not very interested.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting Half/Full board.


I have stayed in much better hotels in Mallorca at much lower prices with far superior catering.

It appears the hotel is trying to cut its costs by providing third rate service in its catering area.

I would not stay at this hotel again, or recommend it ."

"We have been to CalaD'Or many times but this was the first time at this hotel. The hotel was clean, however the food could only be described as adequate. The quality of the food was poor and it was cooked badly. You could survive but if having nice meals is a part of your holiday go for the bed and breakfast option."
