"We had a great stay at the Mitsis Grand Hotel in Rhodes. The hotel is in a great situation - across the road from the beach - plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Only a short walk (about 15 mins) to the main town and the walled old town, which is definitely worth a visit. We had a couple of great meals in restaurants there.
The hotel is lovely - 3 swimming pools - although all were cold !! We were there at the end of October so the hotel was not full, and we had no problems at all getting a sunbed in a good position. May not be the case in the high season when the hotel is full.
Our rooms - 126 & 129 - were great. Sea view, even though we booked garden view, so that was a nice surprise. Cleaned every day and new towels left in the bathroom every day.
The food was delicious. A huge choice at breakfast and evening meal, with somehting to suit all tastes.
Thought it was a bit much to charge 30 euros to keep our room until 6pm on the last day, so we left our cases in the luggage room, and then took a room for a shower which was free for 30 mins.
A great holiday and would recommend this hotel highly."

"I was slightly apprehensive about booking this hotel. I booked at the final hour I read some negative reviews- most of them around the "Not a 5 star hotel" theme. When I looked at all the other hotels of similar quality they seemed to be the same (can't keep 100% of people happy 100% of the time) so took this with a pinch of salt.
My own opinion is that if you comparing to the rest of the hotels in Rhodes town, then yes it is a 5-star hotel (if compared to the Hilton in London for example- maybe not), this became apparent by just walking around the town and looking at the other local hotels.
We went right at the end of the season (Oct 22-31), hence it was rather quite in Rhodes itself. But I found the hotel clean, the restaurant good (also had a attached Italian and Chinese restaurant) and varied.
The location was perfect in my opinion and the beach/sea front is right on your door step (get a beach facing room, worth the additional cost). Also very close to Rhodes town and amenities."

"On arrival we were informed that the hotel was overbooked, and were sent to an inferior hotel for the first night. On the second day we were allowed back to the original hotel and upgraded to a sea view room. This was fine except the room faced north so got no sun at all. The overbooking situation seems to be a regular feature of this hotel - the Mitsis Grand - and the reservations staff do not appear to be able to control it!
Public areas were clean and spacious, pools nice, breakfast (buffet) ok, but could not cope with dinner after the first 2 days, it was like a boarding school, lots of hungry people pushing and shoving, also we had to queue to get into the restaurant!!!"

"The request for a high level room was not achieved. This hotel has 5 floors , our room was on the 2nd floor.
The hotel itself had undergone a full renovation in 1995 ,but whilst the main hotel areas were all to a very good standard the rooms were somewhat tired and knocked about.
A leaking pipe on the toilet took more than 2 days to fix (the bathroom floor was constantly wet) despite numerous phone calls and personal visits to reception.
The facilities in the room were far below what I expect from a 5 star hotel.
eg an old fridge that barely kept anytrhing cool, and a 14 inch portable tv that could only get sky news and bbc news....All other channels were in foreign languages
Food in the main restaurant and the Chinese restaurant were to a reasonable standard,
although very limited fish dishes were on offer in the main restaurant.
Travelling abroad c 3to 4 times per annum ,this hotel does not full into a 5 star category, more a 3 * + or low 4 star.
Location of the hotel was very convenient , with just a short walk to all the restaurants / bars / marina of the old / new town
The service provided by Travel Republic could not be faulted ...All arrangements happened as planned and on time
Many thanks"

"Great hotel"

"Our room was ample size and apart from originally having a view of a wall outside our balcony the staff did manage to move us to one with a view of the gardens and swimming pool. Rooms were well cleaned daily by excellent staff. The food was good though a little repetative. Only thing I didn't like was there was always a queue for waiting to be seated. The swimming pools were beautiful and there was always enough loungers. Having an indoor pool was useful for an early evening swim. All in all I found that it was excellent value for money with courteous staff at all times."

"THE BEST HOTEL IN RHODES. MY SECOND TIME THERE.FOOD CAN NOT BE FAULTED."

"Hotel was lovely - not many British people there - mostly german and dutch. Pools were lovely - always sunbeds available with umbrellas - no-one really saved beds, just used them when they needed them and it worked really well.
No real entertainment at hotel, occassional small shows, so quite quiet but lots of bars, restaurants and a couple of night clubs nearby. Wouldn't really suit older teenagers who want a wild time, but for couples and families with small children, or small groups of adults it was great.
Staff were excellent, always very friendly, polite and helpful."

"Hotel was very clean and meals were very good. Staff were pleasant and friendly, pebble beach directly across from hotel and restaurants within five minutes walk. Took grandchildren aged 9 & 11 who loved every minute of it. snacks in the bar were expensive and not very good. Drinks in the hotel were expensive but only as expected in a five star hotel."

"I think the hotel needs to do more maintenance.as it is looking a bit tatty and unloved. We had cockroaches in the bathroom (we did complain), some of the views from rooms are poor but they could be improved. We went to the same hotel last year and it has certainly deteriorated in that time.
This is not a bad hotel it is just not as good as it should/could be."

"Mitsis Grand hotel is a reasonable 5 star hotel (for Greece) and is ideally sited if you don't like to drive as Rhodes old town with its markets and history is 10 minutes walk away.
The hotel is at the tip of the Island by the aquarium and is on Trianta Bay (Windy Bay). This sounds bad but in fact is fantastic if you don't like mosquitoes or flies as the onshore breeze blows them all away.
The food is reasonable to good - the in-house chinese is superb although the menu is limited - you couldn't eat there every night! There is also a reasonable in-house italian (huge portions) and of course the hotel buffet. All included in the half board package. We enjoyed our time there (2 adults and two boys 11 and 14)."

"Very good conditions, large rooms and good bathrooms. Good and huge breakfast. Employers were also very nice.
Closer to the center, 10 minutes walking. Worth the money."

"The Capsis Grand is a very nice hotel and breakfast and dinner are well organised with good and plentiful food on the buffets.
Unfortunately, the gluten-free meal requested and confirmed on both flights did not materialise."

"Thoroughly enjoyed uor stay at the Grand. Excellent choice at breakfast & evening meals, with the option of dining in the Chinese or Italian restaurants. (prefered the chinese). Beach right across from the hotel, no problems getting beds by any of the three pools. Air con not working on arrival, a brand new one fitted next morning. Staff all pleasant. Would reccomend the Grand to all."

"good value for money; good location; sometimes have to queue for meals"

"We suffered some early disappointment with the hotel. This was a special family holiday for my husband's 50th birthday and depite having booked this last November we arrived to find no rooms ready for anyone at 2pm in the day. The rooms allocated to our youg people only had views of the roof which was pretty disappointing and it took the hotel staff hours to have rooms ready. The worst disappointment for me was after waiting for almost three hours in the hotel lobby the finally allocated myself and husband a room which again was only a view of a roof - this was being promised sea views. I was so tired and disappointed that I was in tears by this time - it was very stressful and awful start to this special holiday. My husband had to them become quite assertive and ask to speak to the manager before we finally got a room that was ok. We apid the holiday for all 13 of us and I have to say that I would most likely not go there again after such a poor start."

"Me and my family had a very pleasant stay at the Grand Hotel and enjoyed the holiday. The reception area lives up to its name ,however the rooms could do with updating. The receptionists, waiters and maids were very friendly. The food was excellent and had a variety of choices every meal time. The outdoor pools were salt water and aren'
