Philip from South Wirral reviewed the Parque Mourabel/pe Do Lago/oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 12/Dec/2009

Ideal base for a short winter break. Well appointed studio - spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need to self cater to high standards. Have booked to return next year. Half board option was good value and food well presented.

Top Tip Short taxi ride (or pleasant walk) to the Marina in Vilamoura with plenty of choice of restaurants and nearby first class beach.

I booked late through Travel Republic and Easyjet to join my family who had already booked a package hol with Thomas Cook. I had a spacious, well equipped clean room and my requests had been met (travel cot/non smoking) and was able to get straight to my room whereas my family found that through Thomas Cook non of their requirements had been met, no cot, not situated close to other family members and a 2 hour wait to get into their room! I arranged my own transfer thru the hotel and all went smoothly :) Value for money at the hotel was great (5 euros for all you can eat breakfast buffet) staff were great. Only comment I would have was that I was placed very far away from main reception and near a main road and was alone with a 3 year old, it was a bit secluded for me but am sure would be great for alarger family.
My family are kicking themselves and feel they got nothing extra from Thomas Cook (as well as being charged 84Euros at the airport for alleged increase in luggage weight) and are booking with Travel republic next time!

The pool, bar and restaraunt were very poor for the size of the complex, also the food choice for half board was limited. It was a 30 min walk to the nearest beach as we are quite fit people this was ok but for older people it would have been to far, a limited minibus service is available but only ran 3 times a day.
We were very fortunate that we had very good weather and spent most of our time away from the hotel it would have been long days if the weather had been against us.
The studio apartment was adequate and apart from having our room cleaned at 6.30pm we have no complaints about the room.
This for us was an ideal base for a beach/golf holiday but would not return to this hotel

This is my second stay at this hotel and I would recommend it to family and friends. The Pe Do Lago apartment was clean to the highest standard and every effort was made for the comfort of the guest. The staff friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there.

Check-in Date: 17/Aug/2009

1. Room/Apartment didn't look as though it had been cleaned for some time as there was rubbish under the beds and on the sofa bed.
2. In the bathroom the bath/sink & wc hadn't been cleaned and were a grimy, grey colour.
3. All of the fixtures/fittings were 'worn' and there were a number of broken items & signs of previous 'botched' repairs;
4. A couple of light bulbs were missing and some of the visible wiring was a potential Health & Safety risk;
5. The room/apartment did not have air-conditioning so was extremely hot & uncomfortable at night (even with all the windows open);
5. We didn't risk using the kitchen too much, based on the lack of cleanliness noted above!
6. Not sure what the '3-stars' are for?!

Top Tip There is a bar/restaurant below the hotel/apartments, but we didn't venture in to it as we knew that there was plenty of choice in the centre of Vilamoura, especially around the Marina. The centre of Vilamoura is a good 20-30 minute walk so a car or taxi is required.

No local beaches within easy walking distance.

The apartments and even more the bathrooms really do need renovating to bring it back up to a three star rated hotel its advertised as but it really is not at the moment.
The towels were changed daily but the beding was not changed all week.

We have stayed at this Hotel 3 years running (including this year). The first two years we were happy with the accommodation. This year we booked a Studio Superior as other years but on arrival we were given an apartment which was far from superior. Furniture was damaged or broken, the bath and toilet were cracked and yellow. I immediately complained to Reception, who remembered we had stayed there before. They told us to go back to Reception the next day when they would show us another room, which we did. This room was totally the opposite to the one we had been given. It was light and modern with a balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel needs to update the remaining rooms or they will receive bad reports on the internet.

The hotel was very dated and need a lick of paint. The apartment was clean but furniture worn. For the price can't grumble too much.

Top Tip Park'ts bar very nice and cheap

One part of the complex was undergoing maintenance so v dusty. The whole area was dirty and unkempt - our apartment was clean inside - balcony was not clean and the chairs/table and loungers were dirty as if they'd been left out all winter. Towels had seen better days in the bathroom - all frayed at the edges! Whole complex was in need of updating.
The restaurant for breakfast was good - food and choice of food good and staff helpful and attentive.

Top Tip Take the little road train, which stops outside the complex, to Villamoura and Falasia beach (beautiful sandy beach) with cafes at intervals along it.

Brian from London reviewed the Parque Mourabel/pe Do Lago/oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 10/Apr/2009

Arrived at Apartment after being picked up from the airport, this was included within overall price. Approx 20-25mins journey which wasn't too bad, plus was just two of us which was rather cool. Check-In was quite swift, although took a little while to find actual room. On arrival the room was not bad, single beds instead of a double which was slightly disappointing - other than that the room was reasonably fine. Distance from Apartments to Marina/Beach was slightly more than the 20 mins walk which was advertised, I would say that the first and only time we walked it took around 30 mins to beach, then a further 10 mins to the marina. On the plus side there is free shuttle which takes you to both from Apartments @ 9am, 11am and 4pm. Pick-up time from the Marina & Beach is 11am & 4pm, although taxi's to both is approx €5 per trip. Went on Self-Catering so only one day of sampling food in Resort, quite ok and prices were reasonable, supermarkerts are within walking distance and open from 8am until 8pm most days, apart from Bank Holidays.
Overall, The resort was ok - Weather wasn't the greatness for whole week, some sun and rain. But would say value for money.

Top Tip Bring your own salt & Pepper if Self-Catering - Don't walk to the beach.

The swimming pool was out of commission for most of our stay, and some of the romms were being modernised which createda lot of noise.

Top Tip The Cactus bar, good value for money.

Had a brilliant time - hotel was excellent - we were self catering and we had everything we needed. The rooms were spotless - cannot think of one bad thing to say. Only one thing could be improved upon and that is the number of times the shuttlebus goes into town.

Check-in Date: 30/Jan/2009

hotel decor was very tired and dated
hotel had no lock whatsoever on bathroom/toilet door
communal stairs and lift were both very dirty
balcony door did not lock
beds should be skipped
the hotel was definately not three star hence we left after our first night and whilst checking out i complained to the manager who at first wanted me to pay again but after a long chat he realised i had already paid "travel republic" and insisted he would only charge your company for one nights accomadation so a refund would be very much appreciated

Top Tip no

Well maintained apartment in Oasis Village. Rooms cleaned, bins emptied, towels changed, loo paper restocked each day. Secure fencing around complex. Parking close to apartments. WiFi and desktop net access available at a cost. Welcome pack provided of milk, fruit and bread. Shops and petrol stations close by.

A nice place.

Top Tip Ignore the two Ali Super shops closeby and turn the bend into Vilamoura to the Jafers shop for friendlier staff, prices and range.

Throw bread or biscuits outside your apartment and the colourful Azure-winged Magpies will fly in to feed. Smart birds.

A great base for a low season short break. Very clean apartment - would stay here again.

Top Tip Plenty of restaurants to choose from down at the Marina - a ten minute taxi ride away. Very good quality food and reasonable cost at the Mayflower restaurant.
