Flying to Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is a very different city from Athens but no less sophisticated and (some might say) culturally superior. The influence of the east is more pronounced, not just in the delicious food, but in the relaxed lifestyle. Thessaloniki is a big city with an almost college town feel, like Boston or Austin, but Greek. The nightlife in Thessaloniki is exceptional, the bars and clubs play great music. The restaurants and ouzeries are among the best in Greece. There are many cinemas showing first-run English language films. The city is also the site of the renowned Thessaloniki Film Festival in October-November. The women, considered the most chic in Greece, support a high-fashion industry that rivals Athens so if you like to shop for clothes, shoes and jewelry you will be quite happy here. There are not a large number of ancient ruins within the city but there are enough Roman and Byzantine to keep any visitor occupied, plenty of museums and of course the ruins of Vergina which include the tomb of Phillip, father of Alexander the great. It's also a good starting point for seeing the wonderful beaches of Halkidiki to the south - which some claim to be the best in all Greece - and to see the most beautiful parts of Macedonia . The beautiful Prespa lakes are one of Europes most important bird sanctuaries, and Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece. The city of Kastoria on lake Orestiada is considered to be Greece's most beautiful city by the Greeks themselves. The Halkidiki Peninsula with its three prongs of Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos run from crowded tourist resorts to beautiful remote beaches all the way to the simple life of the monastery.

“ We have only good things to say about this hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful if needed. The hotel is clean, the food is good especially with the dine around options. Even though the hotel was full it was very peacefull around the pool and grounds.

“ We had a superb stay at The Sani Beach Club, the staff were exceptional and welcoming and the rooms very comfortable. It should be noted that the Sani Beach club is quite hilly with steps and slopes so if guests have walking difficulty the hotel would be a better option.
