“ I picked this hotel because it has a pool which made it worth the 15/20 minute walk into town (which we did twice a day for 4 days). The walk is flat and you get views of the river and cathedral on the way so its not that bad plus you arrive at the right end of town for all of the attractions.

“ The hotel was low cost and in general represented good value for money for the price paid. The good things about the hotel were friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and the decor although old and suffering from wear and tear summoned up a sense of post-war spacious elegance, particularly the staircase.

“ The bedroom was very spacious and the ensuite was a good size. There was good noise insulation so I had a peaceful and comfortable nights sleep. I did not have breakfast at the hotel and the restaurant was closed as it was a Sunday evening, so I cannot comment on the food

“ Nice hotel - would not consider it 5 star but nice nevertheless. Great views from the terrace, but drinks are very expensive. Quite a hike from the city centre up a fairly steep hill, not very suitable for the unfit - good way to burn off those calories after a night on the town. All in all a very pleasant stay.
