luke from chester le street reviewed the Abrat Hotel
"great hotel in a great location, it attracts both old and young and can be quite noisey by the pool however the hotel tend to put older residents on the higher floors which are away from the noise of the promenade and from younger residents.
Breakfasts are basic but okay, there is a number of steps around the site which can make it difficult for those who are immobile. The views from the front of the hotel are brilliant, right on calo des moro beach which can get very busy during peak times from mostly younger people.
Lifts are very small are not good for those who have claustrophobia. Keys for rooms are credit card type and have to be inserted into the wall when you enter your room for the electricity, the downside of this is that you have to take the key out of the slot when leaving your room so you cant leave the aircon on all day (which is standard and in with the room price)"
Top Tip:
"remember to make sure your balcony door is shut otherwise the aircon wont work"
"I have been going to the Abrat since 1986. The last time I stayed there was in 1998.
I must admit that the decor in the rooms is a bit sad and threadbare (especially the curtains!) - and the dining room is definitely suffering from menu fatigue. We went
B & B and there was the same thing for 14 days. I asked for some fresh fruit and the
head waiter said there wasn't any available. The shower was broken and we asked
for it to be repaired, which is was.
The location is great but the rooms and food are only 2 star rating. However, we
had a great time, on a budget, and would return."
Top Tip:
"Ricon de Pepe in San Antonio. Spanish Tapas restaurant. Excellent food. 30 Euros for two people - five tapas dishes, bottle of vino de casa and bread and alioli. Superb value. Handsome spanish waiters!"
"Hotel reasonably clean unfortunately they allow smoking in the rooms and Bar areas which is uncomfortable to those of who do not, particulary in the Bedrooms.
The choice of meals in the evening was not as good as hoped but the Staff were very nice and helpfull"
Top Tip:
"A short walk into the outskirts of the town and a whole choice of eating places and Bars were available, also a 15 min casual walk along the coastel path and you find yourself in the Harbour where, for a modest fee, you can get on a boat across the Bay and visit more shops and Beaches "
"The hotel was lovely, slightly old fashioned but very clean and excellently situated. The food was fantastic. We would definately use this hotel again. The half board option offered outstanding value for money!"
Top Tip:
"Local beach is very small - if you want a little bit of space be on it before lunch time!"
"hotel is clean, bar staff mardy, food rubbish, wouldnt stay every again, loction was good close to mambo. their is cockroaches in the downstairs appartments so dont book them rooms, but if they put you in their ask to move and they will. DONT USE AIRCON IN THE UPSTAIRS ROOMS THEY MADE USE ALL ILL and no it wasnt the drink.lol i sound like a moneing git but trust me i been to ibiza 6 times and this is the worst, stay a one of the fiesta hotels or the a hostal so much better."
