  • "Hotel looks good from the outside but has no atmosphere and no entertainment,food was not good , paid for sea view, did not get one until I complained but not avail until next day.same as the airconditioning which I checked for during booking , not avail until I complained, Would not recommend this hotel, we had a better week the week before at a self catering hotel at a third of the price."

  • "Overall, really excellent, and enjoyed the whole experience. Would we recommend it to friends - yes. Would we go again - yes.

    The environment is clean and tidy. Feels like a little community, not so much like a formal hotel. Quiet, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere - pool never over busy, always seemed to be room without being on top of people. On our pool days, we never had a problem finding loungers (2.8 euro p/day p/person).

    The most positive feedback should go to the girls who work in the restaurant who are very friendly and work ever so hard. The bar is family friendly, not busy when we were there.

    The food is good - the risk is always getting bored with the buffet selection, but I felt there was an interesting mix of dishes and our children ate well, even though they are a little fussy - only served chips once whilst we were there, but this is a compliment, not a criticism. We came home feeling we had eaten healthily."

  • Top Tip:

    "Try the Mythos Red if you are into your ales - it is the only dark, or dunkel, beer I found, like a bitter; the Cretan lagers are fine, Mythos being the most prevalent. Some German beers stocked (Erdinger and Paulaner).

    The beach, although very beautiful, is a bit rocky directly outside of the hotel, but we found that going to your right a little (east) the beach is more sandy, better for children.

    If you stay for the Cretan Dancing evening, my top tip is to get a drink from the bar first so you do not have to wait for table service (even though, to be fair, this is not slow, as the team at the hotel are very efficient and friendly) - my advice is to drink a lot and get into the spirit of it and then wake up in the morning saying to yourself, "What have I done?" and not be able to look anyone else at the hotel in the eye.

    You need to get a handle on the air con - get it on early and get your room sealed, it goes off a midnight, we found the system a bit noisy but you put up with it as the opposite means a hot room.

    Do not drink retzina, unless you intend to do some paint stripping. The Cretan wines are very good, obviously only my opinion. Wines from Samos good too."
