"I was disappointed with the Agdal Hotel. There were very few people staying in the hotel, and it became obvious why. The hotel is in need of updating. The reception is dark and uninviting, but the receptionists were always polite. There is obviously good quality furniture/furnishings around the reception but it looks quite drab. The pool looked dirty - however I did observe it being cleaned on the last day. The furniture around the pool was old warn out plastic chairs and tables which were very univiting. As the hotel is in the middle of town, you could hear the constant drone of traffic and the smell of car fuel, so I would not recommend the hotel for families. The dining room was shabby and the breakfast very uninviting and minimal - bread, croissants, jams , orange and coffee which was not good and was cold or luke warm. There were some heated pancakes and Malowi but that had sat there for a while. At the most there were only 6-8 people eating at one time, which indicated that the hotel was not popular. The bedrooms were in need of updating - repainting and repairing and the bathroom was dismal - mold around the bath and the shower heads looks old, warn out and dirty. One plus was that the bed was very comfortable and the sheets were of good quality and very clean. Needless to say I would not book into this hotel again."

"Hotel was quite basic but not bad in any way, they regularly cleaned the rooms and all the staff were friendly enough.

Breakfast became a bit monotonous after about 3 days, but was edible

We used the lock-up safe quite a lot which was really useful, we kept our passports and excess money in there, and it felt 100% safe at all times."

"very basic and decor is very dated but clean (room cleaned daily) nice pool which was also clean and not overcrowded. Staff were very helpful and really friendly. The food was average - not much choice at breakfast but choice of two to three meals on an evening. Good base to look around the city - only a couple of pound in a taxi to get into the square/market."

"I would not recomend that women travelling without a man go to the hotel bar, although we were not harrassed in the bar the hotel night porter on our last night there was far too over friendly, trying to rub against us we had obviously been watched in the bar,and two blonde women who were alone was a temptation for him.We are not young or dressed provocativley or drunk,so beware."

"The staff tried to be helpful and the hotel was clean, but the menu was boring, the same 4 dishs were offered everyday. And the breakfast croissants were sometimes left over from the day before... we saw this twice! The pool was cleaned regularly and it's easy access to the centre."
