"When the 17 of us arrived check in was an issue as the receptionist did not think he had the correct number of rooms even though I had the voucher!!!
very stressful but eventually someone else helped out and it was solved. After that it was fine.
Adequate hotel with an ideal central location"

"Struggled to find Spanish food. Pizza places everywhere so best to head past the marina to the beach where some more traditional restaurents are located on the beach"
"this was meant to be a 4* hotel. The building was old and fairly delapidated-the balcony doors didn't even shut properly. The food was unexciting, bland, no variety and always COLD. It was befitting a 2* certainly not a 4!!!!! Dinner didn't start until 7.30 and most of the guests found this too late. We could have eaten like kings along the sea front for what we paid in the hotel. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms or in the hotel and they didn't even give you a jug of iced water with dinner you had to BUY it. Hardly the service you would expect from this class of hotel. We stayed in a 3* sol in mallorca 3 weeks ago and it was far superior than the Alay. The food was plentiful and excellent (a proper buffet-not like the apology for one in the Alay) and the hotel was smart, clean and very pleasant to spend time in."

"the beach was like sardines-with the beds at 10euro a day you expect a little bit of space but there was none. It was also very noisy, packed and dirty. The sea was filthy dirty with allsorts floating in it. We will never return!!!!!!!"
"The hotel was clean and comfortable, if not a little dated. The air conditioning in the rooms was quite noisy, but this was not a problem to us. There was a good choice of food at breakfast, including a "diet corner". The sun terrace was well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated across the road from the busy marina, where there is a good selection of cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs. There are also numerous shops and stalls selling a variety of holiday souvenirs. The beach is only a two minute walk from the hotel."
"Very clean and food was basic but good and there was plenty to choose from. The air conditioning was sent at a standard setting so the room was warmer than I would have liked at times. They were serviced every day and the staff where friendly and helpful. I would go back again, I really enjoyed the area, and the hotel. Very Clean area"

"Look around before you choose were to eat or drink there is so much to choose from. Take the beach walk it is flat and there is plenty to do and see. "
"The good points of this hotel was its central position, the cleanliness and the friendly staff. There was a good choice of food and plenty of it but on several occasions it was barely warm
We would stay there again"
"Before travelling I looked at all the reviews and had mixed feelings. However on arrival and did confirm that the reception staff were somewhat surly and not welcoming at all. This surly approach became worse when meeting the Restaurant staff who never had a welcoming smile. The hotel is in my opinion more for the holidaymaker who wishes to have a tranquil time and chill out. When I say chill out that also goes for the pool which is not heated and despite the weather being sunny and very warm, the pool water was very cold. Hence the pool was empty all of the time and if someone ventured in, they did not stay long! The whole hotel is very clean and more than adeqate for a week's holiday. It was great to stroll along the Marina and have a coffee/wine and "people watch". I enjoyed my time at the Alay but wouldn't put it on my "must return" list."

"Restaurants and bars only a few minutes away in the Marina."
"Hotel is a little dated in decor but is good in cleanliness. Rooms were fine, comfortable and of a decent standard. I was only here for 2 nights and would recommend it. Breakfast was a good selection of foods with a large variety. Overall a comfortable clean hotel."

"Maracas bar at Puerto Marina is a must! Paccinos restaurant serves good well priced food."
"We found the hotel to be very clean and the staff were friendly. There was an excellent choice of breakfast on offer (we only booked bed and breakfast). The bar was open from 5.30pm until 1.00am and the chap behind the bar was very pleasant. The shower in our room was absolutely terrific - full water pressure and as hot as we could stand it - much better than ours at home!! We've been twice now and will always book this hotel whilst staying in Benalmadena."
Top Tip:
"The Alay Hotel is situated in a brilliant location - its right by the lovely marina which has lots of shops, cafes, bars and all different types of restaurant, Indian, Italian, Chinese, etc. We especially recommend American Jacks bar/cafe - the food was gorgeous and the staff very friendly."
"Very comfortuble close to the beautiful marina, 3rd stay at the hotel.
Breakfast excellent variety, staff very helpful too."
Top Tip:
"marina can be expensive but Bonanza Square has very reasonable bars and restaurants, Chinease for 6 people about 80.00 euro.
Steak house on the front beautiful."
"Live music in bar which was very loud made it impossible to have a quiet relaxing drink. However the location and view from the balcony of our room was fantastic and there are plenty of other bars in the area. Breakfast was good but the dining room crowded and rather hot, air conditioning in the hotel was ineffective and the pool and sunbeds require total refurbishment."
Top Tip:
"Kalidon bar on the marina is open late, service good - highly recommended."
"Excellent location, not really a 4 star hotel, but not 4 star prices either so no complaints on that score.
Nice and relaxing hotel wwith an excellent breakfast"
Top Tip:
"The Potters Bar on the sea front for good food and excellent Sangria"
"First room over looking an apartment block in very poor repair with an empty swimming pool full of litter - not a pleasant view. Spoke to reception and we were moved straight away. Clean towels daily - v good. "
"Very good trip... pointer to all that said the music was boring in the hotel!! go out and enjoy the pubs around the hotel where this a variety of different music played!! "
"very nice --quiet which is the way we want it and plenty of sun-beds very clean and I AM FUSSY food could be a little better but it was ok and the service was good "
Top Tip:
" one resturant called the pinoccio (cant spell it) on the front was good --as were several others"
