"Our apartment was on the tenth floor and because it was at the top of the hill would be a struggle to walk to if you are unfit or elderly. However, the room was clean, pool was fairly big and the snack bar reasonably priced. Only had one meal from the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious and not too expensive."

"Our stay at the Albufeira Jardim was on a whole pleasurable. For couples who want a relaxing yet entertaining holiday this hotel is perfect. It is a 5 min walk away from gorgeous old town where there is a beautiful beach (beware of the 15 euro charge for two sunbeds and an umbrella) and plenty of places to eat, drink and dance the night away once night falls. Equally for a more lively night out "the strip" is only a short cab ride away (approx 5 euros) so perfectly situated in my book. There were however a couple of disappointing factors to our stay. Firstly stairs!!! and hundreds of them!! Not a real problem for us as we're young but if you find it hard to get around then this is definately not the hotel for you!! From what i could see, there was not any disabled access (unless the count the 30 degree angle hills.) Our appartment was at least a 6 min walk from the hotel reception, most of which was up stairs (careful if you've had a drink.) On a whole that part of Albufeira is very hilly so if you don't like exercise you won't enjoy it, especially in the hot midday sun! I found our particular appartment block very ,very noisy - the doors were cardboard thin so other guests coming in and out of the block were heard loud and clear, whether you were sleeping or not. The shower in our room was for want of a better word - crap! Appartment 315 in block A13 definately in need of a new shower head!! Also be aware that hot water is contolled by a boiler that you are responsible for so don't forget to turn it on or its cold showers for you! I didn't find the reception staff as friendly as they could have been but thats relative - they were helpful enough. DO NOT use the phone at reception - we paid 8euros for a min and a half phone call to London. Apart from those few things our stay was very enjoyable. Would i stay there again...ummm the jury's out on that one!"

"Really enjoyed Albufeira although our hotel was right at the top of a steep hill. The room we were first allocated was in the basement, very dark and small. Once mentioned to reception they gladly moved us to a better room - not much better but it was still better! We enjoyed the old town the best - a bit commerical in the centre for us!"

"The first apartment they put us in was straight off the path by the swimming pool which was noisy and where I did not feel it safe to leave the doors open. There were no other windows and the apartment was dark and there were cobwebs hanging off the lights. At first they were not happy to move me, but I did insist on this and they then put us at the back of the complex. The apartments are very basic and very dated and would say probably in need of a full upgrade, they are not the best I have stayed in. The patio door did not lock so this was always open. We also found it sometimes noisy with people shouting 4 & 5 am in the morning. The bedding was not changed for the week we were there but the towels were changed every day except Sunday. I would have to say that I would not rate as 3 star and don't think I would stay there again or recommend it. However, on the positive side the view from the apartment was wonderful as you were so high up. This apartment block is not for those with walking difficulties, but there is a shuttle bus, you have to be very fit to walk the hills and steps!"

"We stayed at the Jardim 1 and the rooms are a little dated but they are clean and spacious and reasonable value for what you pay, no complaints. The walk up the hill from town take 15 mins and is good excercise if able enough, the Jardim 2 is newer but its behind Jardim 1 and a further 10 mins up the hill so if you stay there its almost certainly a taxi from town. taxi's are cheap but its an extra cost when its every day. The free shuttle bus? I had more chance of a shuttle to the moon!!"

"The facilities at the hotel were good, but it is at the top of a very very steep hill, coming from the centre.It is for this reason I have scored it as I have done. I had a sked for a room near reception, but was given one as far away from reception as was possible. I had been a previous client at this hotel, and was w ell aware of "the hill" from the centre as well as the steepness from reception to the back of the grounds, where I was located. I have walking difficulties and had specifically asked, but to no avail. When I made my views to the reception staff they assured me that they try to accommodate such requests, especially to previous clients, but they were "surprised" when they established I had made the request. They had checked their system to do this. The apartments are specious and well kept, although they are becoming dated and worn, and the equipment in the rooms are sparse. The staff in the restaurant are very good and the food they provide is of a good standard and at a reasonable price. It does seem strange that there is a daily charge to use the mattresses around the pool, and quite a number of the sunbeds are broken."

"For the excellent price we paid the hotel was very clean as was the whole area. The only drawback for people would be the hotel was on a hill so it wouldn't be suitable for anyone who had walking difficulties. We certainly would go back again."
