"just got back loved the short break, weather good hotel was very good. for the time of the year surprisingly busy. most places still open. the hotel was very comfortable everything you expect for your money."

"Very clean and spacious hotel, although some parts looked a little tired and need of TLC.
Pool area very nice. Hotel sited right on it's own stretch of beach, with excellent views of the sunset.
Most of the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Although Reception staff were very sullen and unhelpful.
Restaurant areas and food very good. Change of menu every day to suit all tastes. Breakfast lovers well catered for with a full english as well as continental available.
Would recommend the suite rooms on the third floor - sea facing. Verty spacious and the most fantastic matresses on the beds!!"

"Oveerall the hotel was great and much improved since our last stay there in 2005. Our only complaint was that despite booking a twin room for my Mum and female friend, they were given a double when we arrived in the early hours of the morning - not at all suitable. Although it was resolved, it was a disappointing start."

"A great hotel and location. The only downside was the heat and the cost of food and drink in Cyprus. If you are booking for a family of 4, consider the cabanas as they give you more space than the hotel rooms. (033 is the largest) The hotel was luxurious in the reception rooms and the restaurants but the some of the hotel rooms needed a lick of paint, our cabana was huge but did seem a bit damp. Great service in the hotel but limited entertainment but Paphos is on your doorstep with so many great restaurants and bars."

"I thought that the hotel was fantastic, probably more suited to older people. People with young children may prefer a hotel that has more activities for kids. But having said that the children at the hotel seemed more that happy. The food was some of the best I've eaten at any hotel, including in England and the people were extremely helpful and welcoming."

"The only negative feedback we would have said was the service at the bar was terribly slow........sometimes 20 minutes after we ordered our drinks they were delivered to the table.
Overal,l we had a great time at the Alexander the Great hotel and we will consider returning again in the future."

"on arrival paphos airport is a shambles far too small for the incomming flights so be prepared for long delays with luggage..but on the bright side they are building a new terminal but not sure when this opens. its a 15 minute taxi ride (30 euros) to the hotel and on arrival the checkin staff are very warm and welcomming. we recieved free orange juice and our bags were taken to our room by an over zelous porter who rushed us through our drinks so he could get his tip no doubt.
upon first entering the room i was a little underwhelmed i have to say, we paid extra for a cabbanna room and it was very squashed in for 2 adults and a child. the fold down campbed was comfy but it took away the seating area which was just shoved into a corner, this would have been better had it beeen removed as it was completely unusable.
their is a lovely indoor and outdoor pool much nicer than it appears in the clips online and their are two beaches to choose from the one directly outside the hotel is very pebbly and really hurts your feet, but about 100 metres to the left of the hotel is apurely sand beach , much much nicer (apart from the seaweed!)
the position of the hotel is great for the town centre and a slight downhill walk into the harbour.
pleasenote, their is alot of building going on in and around the hotel area, both sides of the hotel are building sites, whilst not very pretty i have to say the noise was minimal and also the harbour and some roads are being lanscaped with new walkways, so once this is complete (i would say its 99% done) it will be a perfect resort.
the hotels breakfasts were great and apart from the small room i would recommed the cabbanas as the outside patio (private with hedging for screens) and the lovely maid service..tea/coffee facilities etc, evening chocolates on pillow, welcome box of sweets an d brandy! all made our say above average.
in summary make the cabbannas 2 people max and the holiday was almost faultless xx"

"This hotel has a system of allocating your sunbeds for the duration of your holiday, this is an excellent idea, come down anytime and your bed is still available.
The buffet breakfast had a wide choice of cooked and continental available even 10 mins before closing time.
Hotel and animation staff very freindly and helpfull.
The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels every day.
The rooms on the front of the hotel can be a little noisy especially on a weekend with the boy racers drag racing up and down the main road."

"A very pleasant 4* hotel on the beach and close to all resort amenities. Staff helpful and friendly. Fabulous breakfast buffet. I was there during my birthday and came back from a hard days sunbathing to find a complimentry cake and card from the hotel - a nice touch. Worth the money, we upgraded to a sea view room and it was well worth it"

"FANTASTIC hotel . The staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel and rooms were in excellent condition . it was great to have a choice of an indoor or outdoor pool and access to a private beach. The restaurant in the hotel offered great food for great value.
The location was perfect just outside the hussle and bustle of Paphos itself but everything in walking distance. Lovely restaurants in the locale.
I am looking forward to returning to the island and the hotel."

"The hotal was very nice however at the time of year that I went, the guests were mainly elderly so me and my partner didn't really fit in. Maybe this should be mentioned when you book. The hotel was very nice with an excellent location."

"This hotel could achieve absolute excellence if some members of the reception team were more welcoming and accommodating - this is the only negative as everything else combines to make a wonderful holiday."

"Excellent accommodation and staff. Very good value for money."

"The position of the hotel -walking distance of Kato Paphos and the Harbour - very good. The service and helpfulness of the Hotel staff - very good.
Breakfast and Evening Meal - very good both in terms of variety and quality - Entertainment with every Evening Meal.
The room was average (somewhat tired), English TV channels (BBC 1& 2, ITV & Channel 5) when reception permitted.
After the first week the season changed to Winter therefore no air-conditioning in the room. Yes, we would certainly stay there again."

"Main reception areas have been refurbished recently but bedroom/bathroom a little tired looking but clean. Felt the sunbed allocation system unnecessary and unfair in the low season. Ok if you were lucky enough to get a prime position from day1 or weather consistently good. We were unlucky to have very mixed weather during our stay and most of the sunbeds although allocated remained unused. On the odd occasion it was nice enough to sit out we were not allowed to use those beds in more sheltered positions even though they were empty instead we had to sit in a wind tunnel! Food ok. Paphos itself is due to undergo major works over next few months and is looking very shabby at present."

"When we arrived at The Alexander The Great Hotel they tried to move us to another hotel which was not in the area we had chosen to stay, nor was it as pleasant as the hotel we had booked. After being taxied to and looking at the proposed hotel we refused to stay there and asked to be taken back to the Alexander The Great. We were given a room eventually but the first few hours of our holiday were really very upsetting. The rest of the stay was very enjoyable, a very comfortable hotel with good food and entertainment."

"The hotel itself was of a very good quality, particularly the staff at all levels. The service provided was both friendly and efficient. The sun lounger allocation was novel and saved the hassle usually associated with towels being placed on loungers to reserve. The system is one that should be adopted by all hotels.
My only negative comments relate to the decor in the public areas which appeared to be 'tired' paricularly the carpets but in general the decor is of a high quality. My only other critisism relates to the breakfast buffet that provided a good choice but at best the hot buffet was just warm. A good hotel which would be glad to return to."

"Excellent in every way, will return to the Alexander again, what everybody else states about the hotel is true"

"Lovely hotel. Only down side you have your sun loungers allocated to you for the whole week and that's where you have to sit!"
