"The hotel was spotless, inside and out…couldn’t fault it. The staff were friendly and helpful – especially Violet. The cold buffet breakfast was fresh and adequate but a bit monotonous.
Air con is needed in the high season. Book before you go as some rooms do not have air con"Top Tip:
"Trips….. The 3 island picnic was enjoyable and good value for money when negotiated on the quayside (we ended up paying half the price that the tour operators had charged for the same trip).
The Bodrum trip…Bodrum is upmarket and not much different from Kos. No obvious bargains to be had, but food was just as tasty and half price. Go on your own (8Euro + 4 tax) trip. DON’T take the tour operators trip … we were told they a rip off.
The Turkish bath (opposite the Bodrum bus station) was well worth the steam and sweat. You glow afterwards.
Don’t listen to the Greeks, they hate the Turks and Turkey, but have never been there.
The Nysros volcano trip was an fantastic experience. A white knuckle bus trip up the mountain. The live crater took your breath away literally and metaphorically. Don’t go if you suffer from ashma.
We found Kos a bit expensive compared with other Med islands. There is NO public transport to/from the airport and all bus transfers have to be booked in advance in the UK. Taxis are 30+Euros each way!!
Seats on the Monarch aircraft were very cramped. The plane was scuffy and some of the loos were out of action."Alexandra Beach Hotel check-in Date:

"HAD STAYED HERE 4 YEARS AGO, HAD LOVELY LARGE ROOM OVERLOOKING POOL WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON THAT OCCASION AND ALTHOUGH WE BOOKED 7 MONTHS AGO WE GOT VERY SMALL ROOM NEXT TO FARMERS FIELD, WOKEN UP EVERY MORNING AT 2AM WITH COCKERILL CROWING, NO AIR CONDITIONING ( UNIT BROKEN SO NOT ABLE TO PAY EXTRA ), TEMPERATURE EXTREMELY HOT FOR SEPTEMBER, MOST UNCOMFORTABLE, WERE LUCKY IF WE SLEPT FOR 2 HOURS AT A TIME. RECEPTION STAFF MOST UNHELPFUL, VERY DISMISSIVE. INSTEAD OF A LATE SUMMER BREAK TO RECHARGE OUR BATTERIES, WE NEEDED TO COME HOME FOR A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. DEFINATELY NOT 4 STAR HOTEL.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE THE HOTEL AND GROUNDS ARE WELL KEPT AND CLEAN AND THERE ARE 2 SUPERB RESTAURANTS JUST AROUND THE CORNER (TURN RIGHT AT END OF ROAD, FIRST TWO RESTAURANTS ON LEFT SIDE). ALSO NO PROBLEMS WITH FLIGHTS HOME, AIRPORT VERY BUSY WITH PEOPLE TRYING TO FLIGHTS, ONLY SHORT DELAY."Top Tip:

"We have used this hotel ... Alexandra beach ... for a number of years. it is well placed for Kos town, local beaches and restaurants. It is clean and tidy, with a good pool area ... but not very child friendly... definitely an adults hotel and the majority of guests a Dutch, friendly and keen cyclists ... so hire a bike and tour the prom and hills"

"The good thing about the hotel is that it's only 15/20 mins walk, 5 mins cycle or bus from kos town where there are plenty of good bars and cafes especially around the town square ............. and if you are interested in history there are plenty of ruins to visit around the town"Alexandra Beach Hotel check-in Date:

"The extent of the self catering kitchen facilities in the apartment should have been made clearer, they were not very good.
The cleaners were also quite annoying in that they cam relatively early in the day and continued to come back at regular intervals until they were let in, probably because they just wanted to get finished and head off home. They also didn't do a particularly good job.
The walls were also very thin and we had to listen to loud dutch voices next door a lot. If they played music at all (which they did regularly) we had to listen to it.

"The hotel was nice and clean. The staff were also nice and very helpful (apart from the Boss lady who is a bulldog). Our room was well maintained and was cleaned on a regular basis. The view of the sea from the balcony was also very nice. The only drawback of the hotel is the distance from Kos Town Centre (approx 2 miles). However, the hotel is good if you want peace and quiet."

"Excellent Hotel in a nice spot 1-2 miles from Kos Town Centre, it has been recently refurbished to a high standard. It has a good pool and the Breakfasts are nice as well, staff all very friendly and extremely helpful. Beach only 200m away and Sunbeds can be hired cheaply if required. Local Taverna's we tried all very nice as where the one's in Town. Only problem was that we requested 2 rooms close together and this message was not recieved by the hotel and the rooms were in different blocks, not too bad with teenage children as we could use internal phone for free but could have been difficult with younger children."

"we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel,it was very well located away from the main town so was quite pieceful but not too far to walk if you wanted entertainment.The beach was only 5 minutes walk away.The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.The breakfast was the same every day breadrolls,meat,cheese cereals and fruit which was always fresh and enjoyable.We would certainly be using this hotel again in the future.

"We had a fantastic week at the Alexandra Beach Hotel - The staff were extremely helpful, the pool was really well maintained and the rooms cleaned daily. The only reason we have not rated the hotel as excellent was the breakfasts. They were limited in choice and if you didn't time it 'right' the cheese and ham were warm!!
An great holiday though and we'd definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to our friends!"Top Tip:

"We couldn't have faulted the hotel in any way. It was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly and it was nice and quiet on a night. The only thing was that it was a good 35 minute walk into Kos Town, however once we discovered the bus at the bottom of the road which runs every 15 minutes we were happy!
We were by the pool most days and whilst the pool cafe bar isn't great for choice, there are some lovely tavernas 2 minutes away which are great for lunch.
We got clean laundry 3 times and our rooms were cleaned every day apart from Sunday.
We stayed in a Standard Room but Air Conditioning was really reasonable at 5 euros a day. It does get very warm in the hotel so we would definitely recommend spending that money.
Overall - we'd definitely stay there again."Top Tip:
"Fanos is a fantastic restaurant just next to the Four Roses bar as you go into Kos Town. The food was absolutely amazing the first time round and even better second time. The owner was really lovely and encouraged us to try lots of different things and it was great that they had two different prices on the menu, one for mezze and one for portion to encourage you to have more than one dish.
Prices were incredibly reasonable and we'd highly recommend the house rose!
We also loved the Fish Taverna in the centre of Kos Town by the harbour. If you can get a table looking over the harbour its fantastic, if you get sat round the back though it gets very very warm with the heat from the kitchen. "Excellent Hotel. Has been the best hotel we have stayed at. Fantastic service from staff, very friendly and helpful (Violetta and Helen). Hotel painted white, very bright and cheerful. Bedroom were clean and spacious. Always had hot water. Breakfast was nice. Pool was big. Bus stop right outside hotel and only costs 1Euro to the city centre which is a 5mins drive. Generally was a very nice place however we went on the end of may early june so it was quite. We do not recommend the Lido water park. Costs 17Euro per person and the water is freezing. Not worth it. However we do recommend that you take day trip to bodrum by boat. Overall 9/10"

"Arriving at the hotel was a joy. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the hotel is spotless. The pool was fantastic and I just cannot find anything bad to say about our stay. The hotel is situated about twenty minutes walk from Kos town or less than ten minutes on a bicycle, this makes for an ideal peaceful setting. We will definitely be back!"

"The hotel staff were really friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. The room itself was clean and quite comfortable and the pool area was really nice too. The only negative was the breakfast, which was not very appetising at all - stale bread and cold boiled eggs were the only things I sampled - once!"
Top Tip:
"I would recommend hiring a push bike to get around and especially to get you to the nicer beach on the other side of town as the route is really flat and the man made beach across from the hotel isn't nice!
Also try out the restaurant called 'Mama's cooking' just down one of the streets off the dolphin round-about in town. It looks a bit provincial but the greek found is delicious and was by far the cheapest place to eat that we found."Alexandra Beach Hotel check-in Date:

"Staff at the hotel very welcoming, polite and helpful. Room very clean but not particularly spacious. No telly/fridge and pay for air-con. Shower water supply could be dangerously inadequate at times, either very hot, very cold or hardly any water at all. Very quiet and relaxing venue, lovely pool area, adequate bar snacks, close to beach. Breakfast extremely basic but plentiful and fresh food. Would probably prefer to go self catering next time."

"We are much travelled and as such been in many types of accomodation.
I would rate this hotel very highly in terms of cleanliness, facilities , pool care and maintenance. One gripe. not all rooms have air con!! This is our fourth vacation taken thr'o T R, and thus far with the exception of our hotel in Ayia Napa, we have been more than satisfied. Looking forward to booking next year.
