"overall the hotel was fine a bit pricey but portugal is anyway. The staff were ok bar staff a bit grumpy mainly the men. its about 10 min walk to the town were there is a bigger cheaper supermarket and plenty of bars and resturants to choose from."
"The hotel was really lovely, clean and had everything you needed. The entertainment in the hotel was ok but we didn't stay there all night and watch anything. The hotel was a cab ride away from any bars or restaurants which cost 50 cents everytime you booked one (they said it was for the call although they used the internet which was turned on all the time) anyway it is only about 35 pence so that wasn't a problem but the reception staff where, I have never met 2 people that were that miserable. Everyone that we met in reception was just plain unhappy...
Apart from that we had a great time. "

"Go to the water park at the top of the strip near Erin's Isle its great.... "
Sandra from Benfleet reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"On arrival we were told that the room i requested was not available but they offered us an excellent alternative which exceeded our expectations. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and curtious. There are still rooms that have not yet been refurbished (ours was one of them) but they are very clean, bright and large and we viewed some that are finished and they are lovely. Very well equipped. The grounds are beautiful. they could possibly benefit from a few more sunbeds around the pool but other than that the place is great. We will definatley return next year.

"Ancora Restaurant on the strip does the best steak and prawn kebabs! The old town is slighlty better for fish dishes!"
"We had a fab holiday at Alfagar Apartments. Although our room decor was dated and needed refurb, the views from our balcony were amazing of both the pool and sea (as requested) and everything was absolutely spotlessly clean. The maids were extremely helpful and cleaned every day except weekend. The landscaping around the complex was beautiful and the views from the clifftop are to die for! Beach accessible down steep steps by apartments (not suitable for disabled or anyone with a heart condition!), and this was also really clean and nice with interesting nooks & crannies for the kids, although there are also loads of other lovely beaches nearby as well. The entertainment was a bit dodgy, but we ventured out every evening so it didn't really matter. We hired a car (which I would recommend) as its a fair walk to The Strip, although I would recommend going into the Old Town (not walkable) as its much nicer and not so tacky! Overall we thought Alfagar was really good value for money and would definitely recommend."

"Bullfight in Albufeira nothing special and a lot of money for what you get (bull doesn't get killed!).
Definitely visit Villamoura and have a walk around the marina.........boats out of this world!

"it was the most pleasant stay it is a beautifull village well stocked mini market (better than average) the grounds were verry well kept the apartment was spacious clean not too modern although quite a few are being refurbished 3 pools and they too were well looked after there is a bar and a restuarant on site and varied entertainment every night in the bar it can be as quiet or as busy as you want to make it and just on the outskirts of albufeira a 15 minute walk away.there is also a car hire office on sight so no need to go and look in the town for one."

"eating houses there are plenty within walking distance and from every corner of the globe "
Peter from Lincoln reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"Room ok , but in need of an update !!
I have noticed that there is a update in progress on many of the apartments at the Alfagar, which seems to be overdue.
However will stay here again as my wife and i enjoy the peace and quite here ,and
the staff are also very friendly and efficient.."
Brendan from Donaghadee reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"Bar toilets were out of order and smell came into bar from them.Rooms were excellent, well maintained and clean.Gardens were nice, and any staff we spoke to were helpful and friendly"
Top Tip:
"Don't get taxis right into old town as they have quite a detour and get caught up in traffic. Get them to a near point at the side of the town and walk the rest.It will save you money and you will come apon shops and restaurants that you might otherwise miss."
Philip from Wickford reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"The hotel was one of the best that I have ever stayed in. We found the maid staff to be excellent, and would go out there way to satisfy your needs. If more towels were needed for example they were provided.
All of the staff were very friendly, and made sure that all your needs were met, the food was good in the bar, and great if you just wanted a quick snack at lunch-time, or if you fancied having your main meal there.
This hotel is defiantly one I would recommend, although there is the one inconvenience of building work that will be there until 2009, with the building of Alfagar II. "
Top Tip:
"Johnny Hooper's Saxophone Bistro is a must visit. It is in Montechero, and everyone on our trip agreed that it was the best night we had. The food there is of a really good standard, the waitressing staff are all very friendly and efficient. Johnny greets people as they come in, and then plays a wide range of music, accompanied by him on his saxophone. The evening ends with people literally on top of tables, dancing the night away."
"We have stayed before but this time was even better. We had a great apartment recently refurbished and very spacious. The whole complex was very clean and the kids loved all the pools and play area. We all like where the alfagar is situated far enough out of Albuferia but easy enough to walk into if you want the shops and a wider choice of restaurants. Its great for St Eululia beach which is just at the back of the complex. A great holiday for families."
Top Tip:
"Must go to Slide and Splash which is by far the best water park also Zoomarine is another great day out. There is a great chinese reataurant called I think the Royal Garden on the first roundabout you come to as you walk into Albuferia from the Alfagar. "
darren from newcastle upon tyne reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"more 3 1/2 than 4 star, but still a good place to stay. it ia also easier to walk everywhere than wait ages for taxis. so if you have kids stay on site, or go to the old town or strip early (you will still wait for a taxi)."
Kevin from Liverpool reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"Expansive gardens and lots of space around the pools. Fantastic views and beach is great.
No air-con, though did not need it - cool breeze at night.
Location a bit from town - miss the strip and head to old town.
A car made it very easy - long queues for taxis!
Internet access a rip-off at the hotel.

Top Tip:
"Don't bother going to other beaches as St Elulioa beach is ideal, with coves and caves.
Take the boat trip on the yellow speed boats from the prot of Albfera - superb."
Lynne from Holsworthy reviewed the Alfagar Apartments
"The overall holiday was very good. The hotel was clean and tidy and staff were very friendly and helpful. Some other people were not happy with their rooms but ours was very good clean and freshly decorated although not air conditioned as stated on the hotel information. The free bus shuttle into Albufeira every twenty minutes was a minibus which ran twice in the morning into Albufeira and once in the afternoon to bring you back costing 80 cents each. The steps to the beach are quite steep and are no good if you are elderly or have a child in a buggy. "
Top Tip:
"Albufeira's old town was lovely (much better than "The Strip") lots of restaurants and shops with entertainment in the square. Much more family friendly and it only cost 4 euros each way by taxi. Aquashow was also a brilliant day (much better than Aqualand) and the Zoomarine is a must."
"We have stayed at a number of hotel & apartment complexes in and around this resort for the last 3 sucessive seasons.
This visit was without doubt, the worst experience I have endured for many a long time. The apartments were drastically in need of a refurbishment programme, and a towel change of twice only weekly adds insult to injury.
There were dogs roaming around the site which appeared to be owned by members of staff but not on leads, which chased cars as they left the site.
The reception staff were found to be lacking in the warm and friendly dept, and maybe a history of complaints have done nothing to hone their customer service skills.
I can say without fear of contradiction from any member of our party who attended this site that Iwill not consider this venue for a future holiday!!!"
Top Tip:
"Try the Oura Bar in Praia d'Oura for good quality drinks and a very warm welcome at good prices!!"
