"Very chilled out and clean hotel. Although I have clicked no as being suitable for familes that is my own personal opinion mainly because there were no kids clubs etc
but all in all a very enjoyable holiday and would return.
Breakfast was lovely and plentiful."
Stephen from Carlisle reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel

"Chilling out was the order of the day but there was plenty to do on our door step at night .
With the hotel, adjacent to the best beaches i have ever seen."
"After seeing many poor reviews I was concerned as this was a holiday with my parents and sister and was special. However this was unnecessary as right from the start to finish of our 1 week stay we were impressed by all aspects of the hotel including the lovely pool (salt water but no problem), the great view from the specified seaview room (recommended), the exceptionally clean pool with beds etc, the magnificent breakfast and last but not least, the impeccably uniformed and polite staff. We were not given a high room as requested (101, 102 & 103). 101 was changed to 107 as it's next to a/c units and was noisy and I ould avoid 102 as well but view was still lovely and rooms and bathrooms very acceptable. I accept what has been said about it not being 5 star but having stayed at a lot of hotels, I felt very comfortable. If our experience is anything to go by, do not be put off by the stupid negative comments posted by some."
Top Tip:
"The beach that the hotel overlooks is both enormous and immaculate, kept very clean and must rate as one of the best in Europe.
For a lunchtime snack, try the Fort, overlooking the harbour entrance and marina. Our favourite restaurant was Titanic with fantastic food and service. Second was Dockside on the Marina. Great for lunch with the view and we had a magnificent Red Snapper fish dinner with the friendly staff making it all the more enjoyable.
Avoid Safari restaurant, poor meal, arrogant rude owner. The strange thing we found was that the prices were similar wherever we went despite the vastly differing standards.
Would recommend Seafari dolphin watch boat trip from the Marina. 2 hours aboard a fast rib including 1/2 hour amongst the dolphins. "
Kenneth John from Solihull reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Although the Hotel gave good value I have given a 'Average ' rating because of the following -
1. There appears to be a lack of maintenance to items in daily use such as, curtain rails, wardrobe doors, light fixtures, shower operations, parasol fittings, locker fittings, these items include some spoken of by other hotel guests.
2. Being a 5* Hotel I would expect a greater range of food readily ailable at breakfast, such as, fresh omlets, fried and poached eggs, local items.
3.I accept that the pricing policy for such things as food, drink and services will reflect 5* rating, however, I believe given the degree of local competition, more realistic prices would encourage guests to enjoy these things inhouse. "

"We found that local retaurants went out of their way to make you welcome and generally gave good value.
The local bus and taxi services where excellent and value for money.
Excursions by 'Best Day' were well organised and value for money. "

"Stayed here for two nights, dont stay here if you want a 5 star hotel, room was dark and we didnt have a balcony, in portugal 99.99% of hotels have it.
Was very disapointed, wont be going back.
Must say the breakfast was very nice.
This hotel should be 3 stars not 5!"
Rachel from Kidderminster reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"The hotel was very impressive, and our room was nice, big and clean. The breakfast was lovely with a very wide choice, and the views over the sea were amazing. Unfortunately we had bad weather on our holiday which left us a bit limited on things to do, not just at the hotel but in the resort in general. We spent quite a bit of time in the Sauna and Jacuzzi (but note there is time limit and charge for using these). Although we didn't eat in the evening restaurant I am sure the food would have been lovely (based on breakfast), but it did look a little pricey. The staff were very friendly and helpful which gave the hotel a very relaxing feel. One thing I would mention is the hair dryer in the room was not very good. I would recommend that people take their own. The main Casino was great fun and we didn't have any problems in getting in or winning a lot of money, although the slot machines were a little complicated. There were lots of people on hand to offer assistance though. Overall, the hotel was very good."

"I would recommend a trip to Zoomarine - it's a small zoo with marine animals and exotic birds. The dolphin show was fantastic and definitely worth the money. There was also a seal and sealion show, exotic bird show, a pird of prey demonstration and a 4D cinema which was a great experience. This was booked at the tourist information centre opposite the hotel and was a great day out regardless of the weather."
Rebecca from Newport reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Very nice hotel, 5 star in some ways but not in others. Disappointed at the greediness of the hotel, unwilling to put a kettle and tea facilities in your room because they would rather you pay for room service. Bathrobes would have been handy, as well as iron and ironing board. Rooms were very nice and elegant however and the sea view was spectacular. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was huge and very clean. Would stay there again."
"This hotel was excellent, everywhere was very clean, although the bedrooms could do with an update. The food that we had in the hotel was good although we were only b & b. All the staff were helpful and friendly .The location couldn't have been any better. "

"We ate at alot of different places in PDR but found the Palmar Diner (right out of the hotel on the opp side of the road) to have very good food with friendly staff , especially Claudia who worked so hard but was always smiling. Visit Alvor , it is a lovely village not far away."
John from Lisburn reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"As usual, I cannot but praise this hotel for maintaining it's standards of efficient and helpful service.
We found the staff a mixture of familiar and new faces polite, willing and friendly.
Our only regret was that as ever we had to leave!"

"Resturants the Titanic of course and for those liking a high standard oriental food the chinese resturant Asia Resturante Chines is a must"
Derek from Folkestone, reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"This Hotel is rated as 5* but it barely touches 3*. It is badly in need of total refurbishment, the rooms being dark and dated. Otherwise comfortable. Breakfasts superb. Staff reasonably friendly. Manager unhelpful and unco-operative and conspicuous by his absence. Daily room Cleaners superb.
The Hotel is advertised as 'Algarve CASINO Hotel' and as such, I booked it on this premise as I looked forward to visiting the Casino. BE WARNED....although the Casino is in the basement and on the ground floor of the hotel and bears its name, it is a separate entity, albeit run by the same company. The Casino is NOT a facility of this hotel and as a Hotel Guest, one does NOT have any special concessions in relation to it. In fact one is treated exactly the same as any other person who can walk in off the street. The hotel does not explain any rules or regulations in respect of the Casino, such as the need for extra ID and the fact that an entry fee is payable, each night, BEFORE one starts to lose money on the tables ! The hotel manager was quick to point out that the Hotel is nothing to do with the Casino really and was not at all helpful with dealing with any problems that arose.
The road outside the Hotel is one-way and as such is very busy and noisy. If one has a land facing room, it looks out over this road and despite the double glazing, the noise from the road is quite disturbing. Delivery lorries, buses, cars (which sound their horns at all times of the night/day), late night revellers, usually leaving the Casino, and even early morning Dustcarts, all add to to the constant din. "

ASIA Chinese Restaurant.........Mouthwatering Grub !"
David from Nr Maidenhead reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Slightly above average.
One point was that there was no direct access to the lower seaview rooms (800's)also salon's were not in use at the weekends which was a bit disappointing "
Emily from Abergavenny reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"The hotel location was fantastic, almost the best in the resort as you could have easy access to the beach as well as both ends of the resort. A great base. The hotel itself was nice, but not 5 star perhaps. The bathroom was a bit dated and the hair dryer was broken etc, but the service was great, rooms cleaned daily, and the waiters/waitresses etc all very good. Breakfast was a good spread."
Top Tip:
"Get a free map of the resort (available at the hotel and at the tourist information office). This shows locations of various shops bars and restaurants. We used this map to pick and choose our bars and restaurants for each evening. The Titanic Restaurant was great."
John from Lisburn reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"This was the third time that we have stayed in the Algarve Casino and we have always been impressed by the high standard of the hotel staff at all levels.
What more can one say other than that having visited Praia Da Rocha for many years and having stayed in other hotels this in our opinion is the best."
Top Tip:
"The "Squash Restaurant" Praia da Rocha - Food, Service and staff excellent, even better than the "Titanic" Restaurant!.
The "Vagabond Restaurant" in Alvor is also well worth a visit - Good Food and friendly efficient service."
Lisa from Stockport reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"The hotel and its facilities were excellent, although the staff left a lot to be desired! Not v friendly but otherwise ok."
Top Tip:
"There are a lot of places that do "everything with chips"! We found a bistro type restaurant on the last two nights of the holiday. It was called the "Jazz Bar" and we would highly recommend!"
DAVID from NEWPORT PAGNELL reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Outdoor swimming pool water was heated to 30 degrees which is way too hot.
No music or entertainment by the pool which when coupled with the above meant the holiday was spent mainly on the beach which was not why we booked.
On the plus side the hotel was very clean and all members of staff extremely helpful and polite. Food was nice and the location of the hotel excellent."
anthony from barnstaple reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"staff were helpful and friendly. room was clean. beds were very comfortable. fantastic location."

"atlantis restaurant just off main street serves superb food at very competitive prices and the service is excellent. make sure you try the crepe suzettes!"
Angela from Sutton reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Hotel was very clean. Staff very professional & polite. Facilities good. Quiet. Always got a sunbed. Food at casino restaurant was excellent and with 15% discount hotel offers hotel b&b guests works out cheaper than main restaurant.
Rooms at front (land view) don't have balconies. Probably my mistake but disappointing nonetheless. Nightly entertainment is excellent show in the casino restaurant, unfortunately it is the same show every night."
Jane from COLEFORD reviewed the Algarve Casino Hotel
"Wonderful place to stay. Food great and the show in the casino was fantastic.
The Beach was so clean and the new boardwalk is great and the showers and toilets were kept immaculate. Loads of good places to eat even though we were half board. "
Top Tip:
"Our sardine lunch in Portimao was delicious. We caught the bus for 1 euro each from Praia da Rocha outside the Oriental hotel just down from the Algarve Casino. Go to the Dona Barca restaurant. its the best."
"I think this hotel was more a 4 star but very nice. My only complaint would be the rooms on the other side of the hotel are dark and dingy. We upgraded to a sea view. well worth the extra £120 for the week. Also I would not go half board as there are much better restaurants in the resort. We tried the buffet in the hotel and found it to be average and pricey."
