"After going to benidorm three time a year for around five years i have stayed in a number of differant hotels ie flamingo oasis, dynastic park, although the flamingo oasis was the best the ambassador playa was up there with the best very pleasant clean and tidy and the food was british oriantated so all in all a very good holiday and great hotel all round."

"We found the hotel very good. We where travailing with our daughter and her family and it suited everyone. Service inside the hotel from all staff was excellent and friendly. The only thing I wish their had of been, was better steps into the pool, because I am disabled I found it hard to get out of the pool."

"We found that most of the bar,s at our end of Benidorm sold cheaper beer than in the old town"

"SUNBEDS AT POOL AN ISSUE USE OF GLASSWARE AT POOL DAY OR NIGHT SHOULD BE BANNED FOUND SHREDS OF GLASS OFTEN IN THE MORNING
THOUGHT THE RESTAURANT WAS VERY GOOD STAFF WISE AND FOOD WISE"
Elizabeth from Kensington reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"Great hotel stayed there half board last year, although booked for full board this year as it was only an extra £20.00 for dinner as well (great value, well worth the money). The hotel is near to all the pubs/ restaurants and entertainment and a short walk from levante beach. Only one complaint, we specifically paid extra for a pool view which we got, although there was a big tree in front of the balcony so we couldn't see a thing.

"The hotel is close to levante beach, although if you fancy a walk its well worth visiting the beach in the old town (poniente) it is much more secluded."
Gillian from Kilmarnock reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"The hotel was very good. Rooms were cleaned daily with clean towels every day. Meals were as you would expect from a 3* hotel. We had a pool view balcony which was very nice. This meant you could see the sunbed reservers racing each other at 8.30am every morning (but the hotel introduced a rule in our 2nd week that the beds couldn't be reserved with towels - after 15 minutes your towels were removed!). The pool view balcony also means you can see and hear the entertainment at night, if you choose not to go out.
The hotel was only a short distance from the beach and was in a great location for pubs, restaurants and shops."
Top Tip:
"For good food, head to the old town or to Casa Mistral on the main road in Benidorm (just along from Hotel Don Pancho).
Aqualand and Terra Mitica are good fun and worth the entry fees (you can easily get a discount ticket from one of the shops or reps)."
Srephen from Sunderland reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"Stayed at hotel on half board basis and the meals were excellent in a well air conditioned dining area.
Bed sheets and towels changed daily, rooms basic but comfortable.
Staff pleasant and helpful.
I would stay at this hotel again, good value for money."
veronica from hartlepool reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"The staff were really friendly the rooms were cleaned daily and we recieved fresh towels every day. The food was always hot and there was a better choice than we were expecting something to suit everyone. There was entertainment on all day. The only down side is the amount of people reserving beds and parasols. Even though we went in peak season the hotel and surrounding area was quiet after midnight."

"The hotel itself had a lovely oasis in the shape of a spa it was only 7 euro's per person for two hours for guests at the Ambassador. It comprised of a gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, turkish bath (steam room), a cold plunge pool area, and loungers it was very peaceful and relaxing. The bar opposite the hotel does great Irish Coffees and cheap food whith good sized portions it stays open practically 24 hrs I have forgot the name but it two mens names. "

"This hotel is in an excellent location for the nightlife of Benidorm. The food is excellent and rooms are cleaned daily. Rooms have air conditioning and TV although most of the programmes are foreign. The staff are friendly and helpful at the reception. If like us you enjoy the nightlife, you will not get a sun bed here. There are no Germans, but the Brits have taken over from them in the early morning towel brigade."
Top Tip:
"Make sure you go to see "Timeless" in Stardust. they are on every morning at 1.30am. The venue is practically next to the hotel and we think they are the best act in Benidorm. Comedian Ricky Stevens is another act you should see at the UK Showbar."
Lillian from Churchdown reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"i would not reccomend this hotel at all, the food was terrible, i have never known a hotel only offer 1 meat dish 1 fish dish and salad before, and it wasn't nice and i'm not fussy (i'll eat almost anything)
we did not get near the pool once in our stay there is not enough sun beds and people were queuing from 7.30am to put towels on beds, i complained but was told there was nothing they could do. (we actually sneaked into a hotel close by and used there pool) the rooms are ok but ours was not cleaned each day although the beds were made. the entertainment was alright, and location excellent close to beach and nightlife.i will not be booking this hotel again."
Graeme from Perth reviewed the Ambassador Playa Hotel
"We stayed at the Ambassador from 16 July 2008 to 23 July 2008 and really did not enjoy our stay there at all.
The Room: Clean but very small. Decent shower. Air conditioning. Cleaned every day with fresh towels provided. Very little sound proofing. Noisy at night.
We had the misfortune to be in a room near some fairly rowdy groups. The people in the room next door were shouting at passers by in the street, which resulted in bottles being thrown in both directions. Not a nice experience at 3am when you're trying to sleep. Fairly typical of the type of place that Benidorm is though I guess.
The Food: We were full board for our week long stay. The food was truly awful. We're not fussy eaters as such but this was really really bad. We walked out of the dining room twice because selection was so bad and the quality so poor. I can't stress enough just how bad the quality of the food is... However, if you like eating really bad greasy fry ups in the morning and always want chips etc you may be happy. We mostly stuck to eating salad, cold meats, toast and rolls (basically anything that didn’t require the kitchen to cook it). By the end we'd given up and started eating out instead.
The Pool Area: The pools and the surrounding area are far too small given the size of the both blocks of the hotel. There are simply not enough sunbeds to go round in the pool area. The pool area is locked until 8.30am when you are allowed to go and get a sunbed. Always a queue of other holidaymakers waiting at that time and there was a mad dash to get sunbeds. Some of the sunbeds are old and broken too not always possible to get a decent one.
The hotel stipulates that you can't reserve sunbeds and that if a sunbed is unoccupied for 10 minutes it can be taken... A tannoy announcement one day told us that “only bodies can reserve sunbeds and towels or other items do not reserve sunbeds”. Good luck with putting that rule to the test given the rough nature of a lot of the clientele staying there!!! The hotel is passing the buck by relying on guests to police this.
The Hotel: Unhelpful and unfriendly staff. At the end of our holiday, we had an early pick up to go home before the dining room was open. We had been promised access to the dining room to have some cereal and toast etc prior to the normal 8am opening. However on the day we were leaving we were refused access because it was before 8am. The man on reception was very rude and completely unhelpful despite the fact that we were entitled to breakfast that morning since we had paid for it. We’d have gone hungry were it not for the pub over the road making us up some sandwiches.
The Resort: In general, the resort is obviously quite noisy at night so if you like peace and quiet it's definitely not the place for you.
The resort is very very shabby and run down (apart from the promenade area which is quite nice). If you like drinking in working men’s clubs or social clubs with 2nd rate tribute acts to entertain you you'll be very happy. Benidorm is quite a rough downmarket sort of place and popular with people from the more working class end of the social spectrum.
On the upside, the Promenade is quite nice. On the beachfront the bar “Caiman Baby” (noticeable by having a crocodile on the roof) is pretty good as is Bar Sol (top end of Levante beach - lovely lunch menu). We tended to go there in the evening to steer clear of the more tacky, dodgier bars.
The ITV sitcom is a fairly accurate representation of w
