  • S from Castell Defels reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "The Boat Hotel, or known as the Botel had changed location, it meant it wasnt walking distance from the restaurants anymore, we had to get a free ferry or if after midnight a bus. It wasnt a problem for us but we didnt know it had moved location and if we had known before booking we may have chosen a different hotel.

Your booking service was very efficient, we booked at the last minute so thank you for making it easy for us."

  • Rachael from Dinas Powys reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and a good variety of food - a bonus as I am a bit of a fussy eater! The hotel was clean and reasonably maintained. The bed was king size and comfy. The ferry journey from Centraal station to the Botel was quick and easy. Just make sure you give youself time otherwise, its a half hour wait till the next one, not bad in the summer but a bit breezy in November."

  • Top Tip:

"Theres a nice restaurant called Humprey's not far from Centraal station. It was 22 euro for a three course meal, very nice. AND they didn't charge extra for the bread and butter - half a loaf of fresh bread and either normal or garlic butter yum yum! Drinks were reasonably priced too."

  • Caroline from Selby reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a room on the top floor with a great view over the canal. Stayed there during a freezing cold weekend, but the room was really warm.
Much as we enjoyed it, would probably rather stay somewhere more central another time."

  • Top Tip:

"get ferry into central station, bars and resturants a cheaper around the station surprisingly. best places are not the touristy places, but dutch places, if you go dutch its cheaper. gouchos best steak dinner. a small stratt (street) off martelstrat to the right coming from centrl station."

  • Tracy from Manchester reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "Botel was clean, with friendly helpful staff. Although since it's relocation it is too far from Dam Square. The ferry boat was on time on each trip, and free but if you've just missed it, you then have to wait half an hour. I had to do the trip 4 times per day (in the morning into the square, back to boat in the afternoon to get changed, back again to the square to go out at night and then home again) for me this was far too much travelling about."

  • Top Tip:

"If like me and after a few beers have no patience, get a taxi from the station back to the Botel, is quicker and easier (costs 18 euro)"

  • "Really enjoyed our stay on the Botel- it was very basic and it was a bit of a mission to get to the ferry into the centre- but it was very clean, the staff were polite, breakfast was nice. we will definately be going back there :)"

  • Top Tip:

"make sure you a) set your alarm clock to amsterdam time on your date of departure- we missed our flight home haha! and b) give yourself plenty of time to get the ferry as you will need to wait"

  • simone from Watford reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "The Hotel was basic, it was clean the staff were very helpfull and friendly.
It was a bit far from the city centre and a bit of a pain to have to get the ferry everytime you wanted to get back to the city centre.

It was far removed from any where to eat or drink. They had no facility to get cash.

I would not stay there again"

  • Top Tip:

  • Ian from Stewarton reviewed the Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

  • "My Girlfriend and I travelled to Amsterdam for a weekend and stayed at the Botel and were pleasantly surprised by the place, we were expecting it to be very basic but it turned out to be a very nice hotel. Its no Hilton or 5 star effort but for the price it is very reasonable. You need to get a small ferry from Central Station to the Botel but they only take 10 minutes and come every half hour. All in all a very enjoyable weekend and hotel stay. Just take plenty of cash if you want a few beers in Amsterdam, very expensive!!"

  • "My son and his friend were very disappointed as I booke the botel for them because of its proximity to Central Station. However, when they got there, the botel had been moved and they had to catch a ferry every time to and from the botel.

    Not impressed!"

Hotel Details - Amstel Botel Amsterdam Hotel

For something a bit different why not try a stay on the water in Amsterdam's well known floating hotel, the Amstel Botel Amsterdam. Since the beginning of 2008 the hotel has been moored in a trendy dockside area immediately to the North of Central Station, which has a bohemian feel with workshops, artists' studios and hip cafes. A great plus point is the fact that they also offer a free ferry connection and shuttle bus service to Central Station. The cabins are compact and so we have chosen to feature the hotel as a 2 star superior (officially rated 3 star) but all have en-suite facilities and are well maintained. Staff are friendly and there is plenty of room to relax or even have a game of pool in the bar area. A good value, budget option.

Take a train to Central Station (approx 5 Euros one way) and the hotel is a short ferry ride or shuttle bus ride away. Alternatively a taxi direct from the airport takes around 30 minutes and costs approx 40 Euros.
