Sarah from Hungerford reviewed the Athena Beach Hotel
"The hotel was fantastic. Right on the beach where you could choose to sunbathe either by the pools on the beach or if you wished for something a bit quieter in the gardens. Lots of sporting facilities and although we only booked B&B when we arrived at the hotel we found we had been upgraded to half board.
I pre-booked the transfers between the airport and hotel which were very efficient and waiting for us when we arrived at Paphos airport.
Highly recommended we are even thinking of returning next August for our honeymoon"
Top Tip:
"Had a great meal in the Ribshack which is just a short walk from the hotel. Also take a bus ride into Paphos town which only takes a few minutes."
Sharon from Scotland reviewed the Athena Beach Hotel
"First the good stuff: pool fabulous, good beach and the breakfasts were of a standard you'd expect. Were there b&b so didn't eat other meals in the hotel. The main downside was the room. We arrived at 2am and at 3am were still listening to the delightful sounds of rubbish and bottles being thrown in the bins underneath us - turns out we were above the service area. At 5.30am we were then woken with beep-beep-beep of lorries reversing as they made deliveries or emptied bins. Asked to move to another room and the hotel did give us a choice of three - first one was a double room (we had requested a twin room as I was there with a pal), the second was directly on the main road, ground floor (noisy and not the most secure location) the third was one floor up but again above the main road. They did offer to move us to a room on the sea side of the hotel, but only if we paid 60 Euro for two nights. Some staff really nice, others rude and surly - a bit hit and miss. All in all, an average experience, but the room situation and the way it was handled would put me off going back. "
Jennifer from Darlington reviewed the Athena Beach Hotel
"A very nice hotel.Recepion staff always helpful and checkin was quick and easy.
Rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day.
Restaurant very good, everything you could ask for at breakfast, ate in hotel 3 evenings and were very satisfied. If visiting hotel again we would probably take advantage of the half board for 4 evenings offer as to eat at nice restaurants in Cyprus is not cheap.
The pool area is ideal for young and old and has a grassed area at the rear which was great for young children to play on.
Beach was just beyond the grassed area and all in all unless you wanted to there was no necessity to leave the hotel everything you needed was there. No charge for any of the sports equipment which was available from animation team.
Entertainment in the hotel was of a very good standard and started at a reasonable hour.
Happy Hour was a great favourite
We would return to this hotel without reservation"

"Very proffesional and up market, very calm and quiet so perfect if you want a very relaxed holiday. Went as part of a wedding group very nice for weddings although there are hidden charges apparently!! Didnt see much in the way of lively entertainment which I quite enjoyed! just nice and peaceful but if you have a few kids who need a bit of lively nightime entertainment not sure how good it is. The hotel is large and the staff are very proffessional so its not what Id call an intimate hotel which again I actually preferred, The staff are very courteous and helpful in each department and around the clock. As I said we went for a wedding and it was lovly but a bit of a conveyer belt everyday they apeared to have three weddings one at 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00 usually all opting for the gazebo for the ceremony, last year they had over 500 weddings!
The pool areas are nice and clean you are right on the beach as well if you prefer, there are plenty of sunbeds whatever time you go we were in a group of about ten most days and never had a problem.
Food! we only did B&B so never ate at the restaurant other than for breakfast, breakfast was a vast collection of cooked foods, continetals, cereals, fruit, cheeses and ham the usual!! self service etc all very nice. We had the occasional snack from pool bar a toasted sandwhich and crisps was E3.50 which for Cyprus is good! Drinks are exspensive but that is the same all over Cyprus.
Location wise its not too bad very close to the town a bit futher to market and harbour but literally about ten mins to get to the centre were all the main tavernas etc are."
Top Tip:
"Use the busses the taxi drivers out there really do fleece you the bus service is very good and it stops very very close to the hotel.
Towels including pool towels are supplied by the hotel, they also give you a toweling robe and slippers so I wouldnt worry about taking up valuable packing space with towels.
Insect replelant +++++++++++++ now I may have come off worse then the rest of my group but sadly got bitten down one side of my face and my legs so badly that I could not wear shoes due the swelling, I dont know where I got the worst bites to think it was mainly at the market but next time i will be wearing head to fot mosqito tent! If i had been getting married I would have been deveastated at the state of my face"
PETER A from NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE reviewed the Athena Beach Hotel
"Arrangements for flights, airport transfer and hotel room all worked perfectly. Hotel is particularly good for bowlers and people who enjoy sequence dancing. Suprisingly, we found that hardly anyone played bridge, which was a disappointment. Food, situation and facilities - excellent.
It is a very large hotel ( over 430 rooms), which may not suit everyone."
Top Tip:
"It takes 20-25 mins to walk into Paphos - but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel."
"We were very impressed with the booking system, a bit nervous at first at only having a voucher to present to the hotel (not done it this way before but it works!!)
Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
Catherine and Gary Hobson"
Top Tip:
"This end of Paphos was enjoyable. Nice restaurants were The Rib Shack and Da Vincis."
David from Hoddesdon reviewed the Athena Beach Hotel
"The hotel was very clean and tidy all the staff were very helpful and polite. The two pools were lovely and there was plenty of sunbeds to go round. The beach was small but adequate although you cannot get into the sea because of the rocks but a very short walk along the hotel path in either direction took you to another beach where you could go into the sea along with water sports facilities.
We went half board which was fine, we ate out a couple of evenings and there is plenty of restaurants in walking distance or a short taxi journey away if you wanted to go B&B.
We hired a car for the week. Very easy to get around signs are in Greek and English. Lots of places to see and all very very cheap to get into.
We will definately be going back."
Top Tip:
"The harbour is a short taxi ride away with restuarants all very good food."
