Lynn from Bury reviewed the Belroy Hotel
Check-in Date: 21/Oct/2009

Clean, modern and well-run, but rather lacking in character for our tastes.
Food mediocre, a lot out of tins. We were sorry we opted for half-board as we only ate evening meal twice.

Top Tip Tony Roma's for good American-style food with huge portions.

We have stayed at the Belroy before and it was just as good this time round. Its very unique in its decor and ambience. The staff are very good. The Food is fantastic, and the Hotel is immaculate in every sense. Will definately be using the Belroy again.

Top Tip You simply have to go to the Benidorm Palace. Dont scrimp on the tickets and go for the 53 euro seats, that way you will have the best seats in the house and a lovely meal of 5 courses, including complementary wine, of two bottles per couple. The wine is pretty good as well. Its a fantastic show, and a really good night had. Even if you have been before you will find that the acts have changed, so worth another visit.

Fantastic Hotel, Great food, Good service, 2nd time stayed, and would definately stay again..............

Top Tip Benidorm Palace is a must if you have not been, don't scrimp on the tickets and go for the 53 euro per person, its worth every penny, and the 5 course meal inc wine plus a fab show is a bargain

Hotel was excellent - location perfect! The security in the hotel was excellent - you have to use your room key to gain access to lifts and stairs and hotel after midnight. Location couldn't be better - right next to the hotel is a wonderful bar/cafe - Cafe De Paris which was buzzing until early hours of the morning. The only fault with the hotel which wasn't a realy problem as long as you were aware of it, is that the pool area is very slippery - the pool water runs over the immediate edge of the pool for about 18 inches - if you don't notice it you could easily slip. Other than that - could not fault it.

Top Tip Cafe De Paris is great - the old Town is buzzing and the bars was really nice and not a rip off.

Hotel front small sign had 4 stars but rear glass door had 3 stars imprinted. Restaurant lacked character, decor, atmosphere and resembled hospital canteen. Gym had no air con and jacuzzi did not work. Restaurant staff did not seem too happy in their roles which contributed to the overall glum experience and poor quality cold food.
Hotel description of location was misleading; sea view was non existent as tall sea-front hotels blocked the view.

One positive - hotel foyer and rooms were very clean.

Top Tip Avoid hustlers.

Generally the hotel was nice, very clean and the staff where polite if not overly friendly. However, as a stag party we didn't quite fit in as the average age of guests was about 90 and we where even asked to keep the noise down at 8.45 as "People are trying to sleep"!

The food was shockingly bad, don't bother with Half board as there are plenty of good quality, cheap places to eat within 5 minutes of the hotel.

This hotel is very much designed from the outside to look alot higher class than it is.

The hotel corridors were dirty, the air conditioning did not work properly, we had to report it 4 times and as we were only there for 3 days!!!
The evening meal food was very sub standard, very poor quality meat, warm salad and warm sweets. Restaurant staff were so miserable and so unfriendly. The hotel bar was always shut. On the upside very quiet hotel, reception staff friendly, breakfast was OK, rooms have nice bathrooms and lovely pillows.

Top Tip The local speciality of coffee, brandy and cake at 1.80 euros exceptional value. You could have Baileys or tia Maria instaed. Most cafes/bars had this offer. Greta live singer in the Irish Bar

the hotel was in an excellent position for everything it was clean and modern. the beds were comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean as was the large bathroom. the staff were efficient on checking us in and out. the hotel was also very secure as you had to use your key card to get in. we were able to use the indoor and outdoor pools and the gym and sauna. the breakfast was excellent with something to cater for all tastes. the only objective that we had was that we had booked a double room with a sea view and they gave us a twin room with a side street view but because we were only staying for 3 nights we did not ask to get another room. the other objective we had was with the return transfer that we had booked with travelrepublic we were told that our pick up time was 8.30 and to be there 15mins before. our bus arrived to pick us up at 8.50 which meant we were standing waiting there for 35 mins. we were also told that we could ring their offices at 8.30 but they did not open until 9 .00. meaning we lost money for phone calls to hear the answer machines. however even with these 2 objectives we will be using travelrepublic again.

Top Tip tony romas across the street from the hotel had excellent menu for both food and wine. the hotel was 10 mins walk to both the old and new town

first time in benidorm for the festival and st patricks day.The Hotel is in an ideal spot close to beach and within 10mins walking distance each way will take you to old Benidorm or to the livelier bars and clubs of Levante. The Hotel was spotless clean with friendly staff. no problems with check in.Reasonable rates for safety deposit box and free towels for pool area.
We stayed half board and there was a good choice for breakfast, full english breakfast catered for Also a good choice of continental breakfast cheeses bread meats croissants etc.Evening meal was also buffet syle with a good choice for time of year,Soup fresh salads, fish meat, chips potatoes something to suit everyone. We were lucky enough to afford a superior room which i would recomend the beds were really comfortable with a massive jacuzzi in the bathroom,There was a spacious balcony with sun loungers. The hotel has a contemporary feel and is bright and modern
Will definitely return to this hotel and with travel republic who offered the most reasonable prices for this hotel that we could find.
Only downside was it could be noisy main avenue and roundabout outside hotel, which could disrupt light sleepers nothing ear plugs or a couple of drinks wont solve.

Top Tip Old benidorm with Tapas bars , cobbled streets with lovely shops and cafes etc well worth a visit. Also beaches are beautiful and well maintained

The pool area was small and the sun beds were poor. Very little activity around the pool area. The pool bar was never open during our stay. On the two occassions we tried to visit the gym and sauna, the area was locked.
Overall the hotel facilities were top class, other than around the pool area.

Beautifully furnished and modern hotel. Well situated for the beach and bars and restaurants. 10 mins. walk from the old town. Excellent buffet with many choices. Microwave is useful as the food is not always hot. Very pleasant staff and hassle-free stay.

Top Tip Carousel karaoke bar is good for 50 plus's (like us)! Entertainment in most bars (this was in October).

The Belroy is a very modern & spacious hotel, the rooms are large ( big enough to fit in 4 beds) and are kept clean to a very high standard, the food was quite good with plenty of choice, the staff are all very helpful & friendly. The outdoor & indoor pools are small and for sun worshippers the sun disappears behind the hotel building mid afternoon.

Top Tip The Levante beach is about 3 minutes from the hotel, it is a lovely white sand beach.
We found a lovely Italian restaurant - Il Mandilino in the Old Town.

We had visited Benidorm 3 times during the past 2 years. On the three previous ocassions, we stayed at the Hotel Nereo in the Rincon area. This is a 3 Star hotel and we enjoyed our stay there very much. Offering very good food, entertainment and very friendly staff.

This visit was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniv' and we decided to go 'upmarket' and stay in a 4 star hotel. Whilst the Belroy was modern, well decorated, well positioned and offered good gym facilities, it was not to our likening. The Belroy is, in my opinion, a 5 star Travelodge. Somewhere to book in, eat and sleep.
The hotel seems to be a favourite place to stay for visitors from Belgium. Nothing wrong there but very few guests spoke English. No entertainment is offered by the hotel and the place seemed 'cold'. Food was reasonable but not what I expected of a 4 star hotel.
We were very disappointed with the cleaning of our bedroom! We were there for 7 nights and the floor was not cleaned for the whole of our stay. The bathroom was not cleaned properly.

Would I stay there again, No.

Top Tip Go to the Old Town and try the Tapas bars.

I was soooo impressed with this Hotel, food was excellent, the Hotel is modern, plush,
rooms are great! I asked for either a sea view or pool view and we got both! We stayed in the Sol Costa on he sea front before and even though that was also really nice they are both ranked at 4 star, but the Belroy apart from not commanding a sea front location wins Hands Down, and thats with no dis-respect to the Sol Costa which I would also stay in again! The only very slight critisism of the Belroy is the pool area is lovely but its like an Ice Rink and even if you take heed of the warning to wear rubber soled shoes its still Ski Sunday here we come! We are hooked on Benidorm, and will be re visiting in September, and will definately try to book The Belroy......

Top Tip The Heartbreak Hotel (or Harly Bar) as is more commonly known on the sea front. They have bands playing day and Night and its great....
