  • valerie from london reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "The receptionists except one (Michaella) hardlyspoke a word of English
The room 108 was so small that we had to get one suitcase at the time to empty and store
The shower would splash water all over the place and the showerhead was stuck with a grey cellotape.
and due to cracks in the floor, we had an army of ants everywhere
The lamp by the bed was on the wrong side as its lead was not long enough to reach the socket, had to reposition it on the chair near the socket by the wardrobe.
The room itself with its window looking onto the street had to be shut through the day.
What was referred to as air conditioning was a very noisy and ineffective ceiling fan
The breakfast was monotonous and repetitive (Hard fried eggs and bacon, jelly jams and a very very slow toaster, The juice was coloured water with no taste of what was supposed to be (Orange or grapefruit)
Of the five rainy days out of nine, there was no where to have a drink, coffee or tea. The bar was to open between !6.00 and 20.00 hrs. if you can call it a bar.
On the third day the bed covers were removed and never brought back, had to come back to a room with the bed sheets on show.
The two people who served at the restaurant spoke no English and were miserable as sin. (The girl as a matter of fact never returned a greeting even with the one word we knew HOLA)
As it is located in a one way narrow street, the cars would stop at the end of it and one had to walk a good 60 feet to the main entrance.
Please do not refer to it as a hotel any more, but "Budget B & B )"

  • Top Tip:

"Benalmadena is a nice place for a holiday, We recommend the Mini golf course and bar run by very pleasant and welcoming English people.
The show (Flamenco) at the Casino was superb
Plenty of restaurants on both levels of the promenade at the sea front
The restaurants, bars and coffee shops at the Marina are very good. The alcohol drinks are not measured but poured in the glass/tumbler..."

  • Karen from Petersfield reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "Hotel was very clean. Rooms are very small, but you get what you pay for. There is no air conditioning and the ceiling fan has little effect. The pool is small and unheated, but big enough to cool you down. Location is good. The promenade is very close with its restaruants and a few bars. The marina / port is about a 20 min walk along the promanade and this is where the main bars and nightclubs are. The beach is no more than 100m away and is a clean beach with a good bar, although it is a little steep going into the sea and has an under-current, so children need to be supervised.
We did not find any parking at the hotel, but there are plenty of side roads to park in free of charge.
Overall, for a 2* hotel, it is excellent and I would recommend it."

  • Top Tip:

"The bar on the beach bil-bil (opposite the crossing at the bottom of the road) is great (can't remember the name of the bar - begins with an "M"!) - good atmosphere and cheaper than those at the port."

  • Judy from Stoke on Trent reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "The hotel and staff were great. The only problem I had is when I arrived at the hotel they had no reservation for me from youself. Luckily they sorted the problem and found me a room. I was travelling on my own so the situation could have been quite serious if they had been fully booked. So, the only problem I had was from your reservations dept!!"

  • K from Preston reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "THE HOTEL WAS ABSOLUTELY SPOTLESS AND THE CHAMBERMAIDS CLEANED EVERY DAY. THE TOWELS WERE CHANGED DAILY AND THE SHEETS MID WEEK.
THE HOTEL IS SET OVER TWO BUILDINGS AND WE NEEDED TO USE 2 LIFTS TO GET TO OUR ROOM.
WE HAD THE POOL TO OURSELVES AND THE HOTEL IS SET IN A CONVENIENT AREA FOR MEAL OUT , THE BEACH AND THE PARK.
THE BEDROOMS ARE ON THE SMALL SIDE BUT WE ONLY SLEPT IN THEM AND THE BATHROOM WAS LARGE.
THE ONLY DOWNSIDE WERE THE BREAKFASTS .WE ONLY ATE IN TWICE AND ATE OUT FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. THERE WAS LIMITED CHOICE AND NO FRUIT OR YOGHURTS.
ON THE WHOLE, A GOOD PLACE TO STAY FOR A BUDGET HOLIDAY."

  • Top Tip:

"A GOOD PLACE TO EAT IS THE HORIZON AND SABATINIS ON THE PROMENADE.
THE LOCAL PALOMA PARK WITH IT'S MANY ANIMALS IS A PLEASANT STROLL IN THE EVENING.
ARROLL DE MEIL VILLAGE IS PRETTY."

  • MARK from READING reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "Unfortunately when we got to the Betania it was closed. However there was a receptionist and she got us transfered to the Hotel Balmoral. This was a similar hotel but bigger and filled with lots of old Spanish people which was an interesting experience. Breakfasts were repetitive but sufficient choice to fill us up."

  • Katarzyna from Kilmacolm reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "The room, although double, was the tiniest I've ever seen. Only bed was there and we had to squeeze between bed and a wall to get to the bathroom, which stank with dump. The shower was with curtain which stuck to the body when taking the shower, and of course all the water was outside on the bathroom floor.
If you like English breakfast, you'd love it there as every day you'd have eggs and beacon. Nothing else to choose from!
The only reason why I didn't rate it "terrible" is that the maid was in the room every day with fresh towels and the staff was very nice and helpful. Would definitely choose a different hotel if I was going there again."

  • Michael from Bury reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "I was put off before arrival by some negative comments on the site but pleased to discover that the Betania was superb value for money. Although my room was relatively small without a balcony, it was clean, with sheets and towels replaced each day. Staff at reception were friendly and efficient and all spoke good English. Breakfast offered a buffet comprising bacon, eggs, cooked meats with a selection of breads, etc. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel."

  • Top Tip:

"Hotel location is not known to all airport taxi drivers, and some local ones. Would advise you to copy the hotel address on a piece of paper and give them this if the hotel name seems unfamiliar to them. It is situated on a one-way street behind the Hotel Las Arenas."

  • Cheryl Michaela from Liverpool reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "The Hotel and rooms are clean. Breakfast consists of streaky bacon, eggs, cereal, toast, bread rolls, tea, coffee, juice and water. The restaurant and kitchen are also very clean. The staff are extremely helpful, we had a problem with the blinds, the pulley had snapped, it was repaired within 2 hours."

  • Top Tip:

"There is a great carvery opposite Bonanza square behind the private car parks and just after Bunny's Drag Act club (sorry I can't remember the name) best carvery I have ever eaten at just 9 euros per person, eat as much as you like so you don't need a starter. I you are not a good walker, as it is uphill you may require a taxi."

We paid extra for a room with a terrace, and our room opened onto terrace with swimming pool which was very small but fine for a cooling dip. Very good value for a 2 star."

  • s from feltham reviewed the Betania Hotel

  • "This hotel is located on a hill, abit steep but literally a minutes walk from the shops and beach so the location is fantastic - everything on your door step. Although it is a small hotel, there's seating areas around with comfy sofas and tables, really homely. The breakfast is not buffet, it is continental. The rooms are small, the balcony is shared with the room next door and you could not fit a chair on there even. This was abit of a disappointment but we were h
