"Just returned from 4 nights staying at the Hotel Calypso .
Our room was on the ninth floor which was fine as there were enough lifts and we never had to wait long for one to get to us . the room was spotlessly clean ,it had a small balcony complete with table and chairs and a small clothes airer ,there was a tv in the room which had ITV and a couple of other english channels , the air conditioning was excellent ,kept us nice and cool during the hot nights , there was also a small fridge which came in handy for storing small bottles of drink .Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water and the shower worked well.rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied daily .
The food was of good quality ,we found it to be hot enough and plenty of choice ,there were a lot of fish dishes but then there was also a couple of meat dishes as well to compensate , soups ,stews and also a nice salad bar ,you would have to be very fussy to not find something you liked ,we found that the lunch buffet was possibly even better choice than the evening buffet , there was always a '' theme food '' of the day which was posted at the entrance to the dining room .The dining staff were very friendly and if you didnt finish your wine they would keep it for you till the next meal ,a very good idea as my bottle of wine lasted me the whole stay .The puddings were to die for ,loads of selection , from cakes to pastries to bread and butter pudding and baked fruit ,jelly ,fresh fruit ,you name it they had it plus two choices of ice cream from a machine where you help yourself ,pure heaven .
We couldnt fault the hotel , we didnt stay in for the evening entertainment as it was geared more towards the very mature guest ,a lot of ballroom type dancing ,that sort of thing ,no disco music there , but Benidorm has so much entertainment going on we were quite happy to toddle off and sample the Benidorm nightlife .
All in all we had a lovely time and another great holiday from Travel Republic , we would definately recommend the Hotel Calypso ,just dont expect the hotel to be buzzing as this is a relaxing Hotel .If we went back to Benidorm we would definately go back to the Calypsoand we would definately use Travel Republic ."

"The Calypso hotel is great. This was our third visit to the hotel and once again we were not disapointed. The accomodation is clean and spacious, the food is lovely and the staff are helpful and friendly. With only a short walk to the beech and night life the Calypso is a great place to stay."

"This was the best hotel we have stayed in. The food was excellent lots of choice at every meal, the desserts were lovely, again loads to choose from.All the waiters in the resturant were friendly and always smiling. We had a large room with 3 beds overlooking the pool,you get a fridge free and also a flat screen tv.The room was kept really clean, and towels and sheets changed regular.The drinks are two for one all day every day, we always went out but for others who like to drink in the hotel it was a good offer.The hotel is five minutes from the beach, and all the caberat clubs are across the road,we will definetly be back to this hotel soon."

"The hotel Calypso in Playa De Lavante was superb. The management and staff were so helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Lavante beach, which is just a short walk away from the hotel, is ideal for those who just want to relax and get themselves beautifully tanned. You can also mix in with the locals. For the ladies, it's a shoes and handbag heaven and the prices are very reasonable. The hotel has it's own entertainment. First you can dance to the resident D.J. then at 11 o'clock, there's a cabaret whether it be beautiful Flemenco dancers, or a demonstration of ballroom dancing. Entertainment around the hotel is rife. Enough to suit all ages. The food in the hotel is excellent, with many choices of menues. I can't praise this hotel enough. If you want a holiday you'll never forget, the Calypso,Playa De Lavante, Benidorm is for you."

"The Hotel Calypso is an excellent hotel .Everthing was to the highest standard from the rooms to the food to the pool area. All the staff very friendly and helpful. The 2 for 1 drinks promotion is great, made the holiday even better ! Only complaint I have is with the transfer service provided by Resorthoppa who informed me that I would not have to worry about telephoning to confirm my pick up at the hotel as this would be shown on the Reception noticeboard. this did not happen and I had to ring around at the last minute to confirm my pick up time . Overall a very enjoyable stay in a very nice hotel."

"Was very happy with the hotel. The male receptionist/manager gave us an excellent room with views over the water. Food was good but not enought european food. As usual there were a lot of fish dishes. They had fish and chips in breadcrumbs but the crumbs were very soft. Overall the food was excellent. Maid service was very good although we kept our room ourselves in a clean order."

"we stayed at the calypso hotel in benidorm in december 2008. the hotel was excelent, we had full board and the meals were great, there was something for everyone. hotel staff were all very friendly and our room was spotless, cleaned daily with fresh towells.the calypso is centrally located very close to the beach, bars, clubs and restaurants. the hotel entertainment is more catered for older peopole but because of the location, this didnt matter to us at all. all in all i would highly recomend this hotel and we will definately stay there again."

"For a 3* hotel the Calypso was quite smart, clean and stylish.
Food was good and varied in choice.
Evening entertainment was very much ballroom and latin dancing. Many guests had obviously gone to the hotel expecting this and there were quite a few "posh frocks". It was very much middle aged and older couples.
Drink prices were quite low for a hotel being only a little higher than surrounding bars."

"This hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Its position for both the beach and the nightlife is perfect. Meals although not superb they are more than adequate. We travelled in October and the majority of the guests were elderly people . Do not let this put you off staying here as I have previously stated you are very close to the livlier side of Benidorm. My wife and I found this hotel so good that when we return to Benidorm I do not think we will stay in any other hotel. There are about 6 or 7 hotels in the Servigroup chain dotted across Benidorm . We visited 2 or 3 and all of them look to be very nice as well. I would rate this hotel as 9 out of 10 . Excellent."

"A superb hotel !! Hotel and rooms spotlessly clean, with cleaners working 24 hours round the clock every day. Food out of this world, with a huge choice. You wont find better in Benidorm. Staff very friendly and helpful, always got a smile for you. Entertainment O.K. if you like ballroom dancing, but step outside the hotel and the clubs and bars are on your doorstep. "have stayed in the Calypso many times. Find it second to none. everyone in the hotel, with the notable exception of Miguel at reception ( who is offensive and nasty ),ALL the others are helpful and extremely friendly. the rooms are done properly every day !! ,the food is quite exceptional and plentiful !! the hotel is situated in an ideal position for almost everything that Benidorm has to offer. "Hotel excellent with good choice of food .
Downside was there was no snackbar though we were full board so didn't mind too much.
Plenty of sunbeds and nice pool area .
Asked for room with pool view and not too high .....got exactly what asked for .
Beware the luggage weigh machine in hotel luggage room was 2 kilos out with both me and my partners case . We were bringing cigarrettes back and knew weight of them and case before going ....machine gave false reading and we dumped a little stuff :-("

"The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard, The rooms have plasma screen tv's on the wall which have a number of English channels including BBC and ITV Granada which is great especially if you are from the North West of England!! You can watch your favourite soaps whilst getting ready to go out!! The food especially catered for British clients and the breakfasts are superb. The first Spanish hotel i've stayed in that has black pudding on the menu. The hotel is clean and modern and central to the vast array of bars and restaurants and only a 3 minute walk to the beach. There are lifts for the elderly so they dont have to walk the stairs to the pool and there is also a bright clean smoking room for smokers so they dont have to stand outside but it is so nice & clean that you dont want to smoke in there because it would be a shame to spoil such a lovely room!! I would throughly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely booking with Travel Republic again to stay at the Calypso"

"the hotel was very clean rooms and towels were changed every day. Food was abit repetative but was alright. We stayed at the front of teh hotel where the air conditioning didnt work to good the room got the sun and as it was nearly 40 degrees it wasnt as good as my sister in laws room which was like ice as she was in the shade...so if your going when it is hot try and get a room away from the front also if you are an early bird pubs dont close till 4.30am and you can hear everything from the front of the hotel. I would go here again though but in a different room"

"Nice clean hotel but found room quite small compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Benidorm and the bathroom had no air conditioning or extractor fan, making it uncomfortablely hot when taking a shower.
Food was plentiful with a good choice each day.
I dont think I would stay there again, only because of the room size making us seem cramped for space."
