Kevin from Ipswich reviewed the Carlton And Grand Canal Hotel
"The room I had was the smallest I have ever stayed in considering it was a double room. The double bed I booked was made of two singles pushed together which was really uncomfortable. I would not pay this type of money to stay here again."

"Good clean rooms and bathrooms.
The breakfasts were great and they went on to 10.30
Restaurant in hotel offered really good food and first class service.
Sitting outside 10 foot from the Grand canal watching the world go by with a bottle of wine, priceless."
Top Tip:
"Buy a 3 day pass as within 200 metres of hotel you can make full use of all the water buses in Venice.
Some really nice restaurants in the Jewish quarter, 10 mins away. "

"Hotel was lovely we had a fantastic room overlooking the grand canal. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome."
Top Tip:
"The local restaurants were lovely and not very expensive. Everything was in walking distance - worth splashing out on a water taxi to go to and from the airport as the water bus looked very busy."

"We booked to stay in the Carlton and Grand Canal Hotel and when we turned up the reception area was lovely decorated and we were right on the main canal. Made a great first inpression when arriving to the hotel in taxi boat. Sadly we were informed when we arrived that some guests had booked in for a few extra nights which meant there were no rooms available for us, instead they had booked us into there sister hotel which was around the corner and on a much quieter canal. They brought our luggage to the hotel for us. Even though it was a last minute change and ideally I would have like to have stayed in the hotel I booked Hotel Sofitel was lovely, the staff were friendly and the hotel was nicely decorated and clean. Both Hotel Carlton Grand Canal or Hotel Sofitel are in great locations and I loved every minute of being in Venice and being situated where we were added to exploring the whole of venice rather than just the main tourist areas. "Great location. lovely hotel. We asked if they have a swimming pool for my kid but apparently only one hotel in Venice does, but with plenty of water around my 6 year old loved the holiday. Fabulous breakfast and nice room, although ours faced a wall we were out all day and didn't mind. very plush decor and pretty glass light fittings. "
