  • Derek from Southport reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "Traditional business hotel located in a busy area of town. Very noisy until 2.00am with a busy bar next door and endless motor scooters racing past. Good and helpful management."

  • Top Tip:

"Nearest beach about 2 miles away - primitive but quiet, mainly used by local people. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and only a short distance to McDonalds!"

  • "Very good, but a little overpriced"

  • Top Tip:

"Visit the rooftop bar/restaurant at the Cavalieri for superb views, especially at night. Just have a drink if you cannot afford a meal."

  • michael from Bakewell reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "Excellent hotel, spacious twin bedroom, good shower/bathroom and FANTASTIC roof-top terrace for drinks and meals, not cheap but well worth it. The views are simply stunning.

Continental breakfast but you do get pre-cooked bacon and scrambled eggs too. Very friendly staff, only one of whom didn't appear to speak English and consequently came over rather un-helpful.

The hotel is a 5 minute stroll to the Liston, 2 minutes from the sea, loads of restaurants, bars etc within very easy walking distance. Opposite the Esplanade and also less than 10 minutes tax to the airport for which we paid 12 Euros.

On check-out day our flight wasn' until 10pm and we were allowed to keep our room until 6pm for an extra 30 Euros (normal check out is 12 noon).

Lovely rooms downstairs, very clean, recommended place to stay at its price-point of a little over £100 per night per room (July 2008)."

  • Top Tip:

"La Cucina (italian restaurant) on the road that runs behind and parallel to the hotel - excellent quality food. Loads of later-night bars next to the hotel, ideal for anyone under 30. In the town itself, Bellissimo serves very authentic Greek cuisine, recommend the stuffed peppers/toms but not so much the local white wine, very yellow in colour and sherry-like in flavour!

Sit on the Liston with a frappe and watch the entertainment walking by, first class!"

  • Julie from Barrow-in-Furness reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "Stay excellent but hotel very hard to find! It took us an hour driving from the airport and going around and round looking for it! Also parking very hard especially at the weekend!"

  • john from worcester reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "The hotel rates itself as the best in Corfu. Sadly that is not the case. The room was more shabby than chic. The staff were more surly than friendly. The hotel's best feature, the roof top bar, was closed as it was outside the main season, but we were only made aware of that when we arrived. On the plus side the hotel is in a fairly quiet end of town and good restaurants and cafes are in easy walking distance."

  • Top Tip:

"Try Cafe Rex. It's been there since 1932 so it must be doing something right!"

  • John from Daventry reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "Great hotel with good staff but.........................next door is a nightclub that goes on until about 4 in the morning. We had a great room with balcony on the 5th floor but we had to close the shutters and windows because of the noise. Not a massive problem but on a hot night and with a great view it would have been nice to leave everything open."

  • Top Tip:

"Many really good restaurants close by and only 5 minutes walk into town centre."

  • Lorraine from Nr Ware reviewed the Cavalieri Hotel

  • "The staff were very helpful and the hotel was comfortable. The air con didn't work in one of the rooms so it was hot overnight - which made a change from the current UK temperature and rain! The roof top bar was great with fantastic views."

  • Top Tip:

"For a lovely meal in nice surroundings try the 'Bouganvillia'"

  • "It wasn't me who went on this trip - it was a business trip for one of our installations team. I usually book these trips and this was the first time I have used Travelrepublic but was suitably impressed enough for me to book myself a holiday to Malta in October - so contact me again and I can give you personal comments of my experience. Property Summary

Location

The superior rooms or suites are allocated according to availability, elegantly furnished with bright colours and wooden furniture which creates a warm and pleasant ambiance. The superior are larger corner rooms and have a balcony with either a view of the harbour or of the city. The suites are the first floor and are ideal for a family, as they have an internal staircase that leads up to a bedroom and bathroom mezzanine, leaving the living area and second bathroom fairly detached.

The roof garden bar is one of the most privileged dining locations in Corfu, giving the most fabulous view of the sea and all the beauty of the town. The cafe bar upstairs is only open in the evenings. The breakfast room is just off the lobby.

It is a brightly coloured, tall building of Venetian style architecture. The plaque outside commemorates the hotel as the birthplace of one of Greece's prime ministers.

A refined, historical hotel, boasting an excellent location, comfortable accommodation that is complemented by good service. (10/08 EP)
