"Stayed for a week in May, weather great, location really good, close to most amenities. Clube Maria Luisa is situated in a very quiet area right by the beach. The accommodation is adequate if a little dated. Clean and cleaned 3 times during our week, they also changed the towels 3 times. One thing to watch out for, the shower was far too hot, could be a problem with small children.

Most of the roads and pavements in the area were being put in during our week, this didn't cause any inconvenience to us and will greatly improve the area. I would stay in this hotel again."

"Maria Luisa beach is one of the best around, we couldn't find a better one."

"Very quiet, just before the season started in May. No aircon in the apartments which would prove an issue later in the year.

Extremely close to the beach,being down a few steep stairs less than a minute away.
The grounds around the pool were pleasant and kept very clean.

The local restaurants were about a 10 min walk away, along a road that is in the process of being re-surfaced, which has been going on for months apparently !!!

This might be an issue for the old or families with young children."

"Other than the road works going on outside and the English guests slamming there apartment doors rather than closing them quietly, once i asked for a transfer to a garden view room away from the English, it was a cracking little hotel. Peaceful, well maintained and on top of a lovely beach. For the price, I and the wife really enjoyed our stay. PS, glad to see the Portuguese have woken up to there being a credit crunch and reduced beer and food prices unlike the Spanish."
Top Tip:
"For local info, cheap transfers and great coffee and eggs on toast (i only tried that) pop into holidays bar where you will find dawn or a family member. they've been there for 20 years, so great for info. Around the corner from the post office."

"Great place to stay if you don't mind not being in the centre of things. Not good for people with mobility issues as its placed down a long windy & uneven road."

"The complex was about 20 years old but very clean. It was very quiet but the young man who worked at the bar (which was open every day and night in spite of how quiet it was) was very helpful. It is a couple of minutes to a little private beach down some steps and a ten minute walk to the village centre where you could eat and drink or a ten minute walk in a different direction to reach the main road where there were more restaurants, bank, supermarkets, gift shops etc. Also this main road is the route to Faro or Albufeira, the bus is fairly cheap and easy to use."

"On the main road towards Albufeira a little eaterie had just opened, it is called Jollies and the food is great and the people were very nice"

"The apartment was very comfortable and very quiet which is what we wanted. We could have done with satellite TV in the apartment though. Also we were the only ones having an evening meal and although the meals were very nice they were sent from a local restaurant and reheated in the microwave. I think that if we stayed there again we would probably go self catering or B&B as there are plenty of places around to eat."

"A car is definately required for this area as everywhere bar the beach is a good 10 minute walk. The complex itself is lovely although the balcony/veranda's are facing the wrong way and you get a veiw of the car park rather than looking out to the pool area. The apartments are a very good size with everything you could required (although the furniture could be a whole lot more comfortable). The beaches are beautiful but are all accessed via rather a lot of steps so not for anyone with walking difficulties. All the local bars and supermarkets seemed to be fairly expensive but the service is great the food is superb and they speak excellent english.

On the whole a really good value for money break"

"The hotel was a little dated but well maintained and spacious accomodation. Even a washing machine in the appartment !
Good veiws over looking the pool right to the sea.
If self catering be prepared for a long walk to the nearest shop.
As we went early in the season the hotel bar was very quiet, and no other bars within easy walking distance. Overall a quiet relaxing holiday."
Top Tip:
"We found a restaurant nearby on the beach and after a 15 min walk we found Tracies bar run by a very friendly couple from Lincoln. Also the chinese restaurant was excelent."

"We didn't quite know what to expect from this hotel when we booked it, and it was everything we hoped it would be. The apartments were very spacious, clean and had everything we needed including a microwave and a washing machine which I have never seen before in Self Catering accommodation. The complex was immaculate and well maintained. It was very quiet due to it being very early in the season, which was perfect for a relaxing break. The staff were very friendly especially Dario and Nuno, who were always very amusing and looked after us really well and a valuable asset to the hotel, They really made us feel welcome. Maid service was excellent and every day, and towels were changed 3 times in a week. Supermarkets and a handful of lovely restuarants and some bars (Yes some English ones that showed football!) were close by and the resort is situated slightly away from the hustle and bustle of everything making it a very peaceful place. The beach is right near the apartments down about 30 steps and what a beach it is stunning although you must check out Falesia beach along slightly too as this was one of the best beaches I have seen. Lovely little resort that has everything you would need for a 2 week stay, including doctor , dentist , Pharmacy, regular bus and taxis to main towns and golf courses galore surrounding you"

"We ate a few times in Ambrosia & Nectar, and the service and hospitality was amazing, they even gave us a lift home one night when it was absolutley pouring down with rain, how fab is that, another lovely restuarant was I fratelli for pizza and pasta and Calabrita on the main road was delicious too."

"Very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff and nice surroundings.

Unfortunately hotel check in wasn't until 4pm and we arrived at 10.30 am!! The staff did very well in getting us checked in for 3pm."
Top Tip:
"Hotel is right by a very nice beach. There are lots of restaurants and bars nearby, but the area would be classed as a quieter resort.

However, Albufeira Old Town is only a ten minute taxi journey away (about 7 Euros) where there are lots more restaurants and bars to choose from.

All in all, a nice relaxing holiday."

"I liked the apartment and the location close to the beach. I would stay there again as long as I had the same apartment. The only drawbacks were for some reason the bed sheets were double's and the bed was kingsize! Figure that one out! Plus the car park barrier only works when it wants too! I had to knock a resident up to use his key fob when I was leaving, as the auto barrier failed to work."

"Lovely beach just a short walk from the complex, which has a nice reasonably priced cafe/bar."

"the hotel we stayed in was clean and tidy with a great secluded pool,rooms were a little dated but a good size.superb location down a quiet road and 2 mins (down about 50 steps to a superb beach."

"maria luisa beach is very clean and well attended by friendly lifeguards,olhos de agua is conveniently close(by taxi) to albafuera for shopping and lively nights, and to vilamoura for a waterfront stroll.we did however find a lovely restaurant closer to our hotel called the blues bar which served quality food freshly cooked at a reasonable price....."

"As this was a last minute 'cheapo' holiday we weren't expecting much and I was a bit dubious about booking a 2 star hotel as some 3 star places I've stayed haven't been very nice, however, this hotel was a lot better than expected. The rooms were all clean and quite spacious, the bathroom was nice, the shower was very powerful, and I was surprised to see a washing machine in the kitchen. The swimming pool and surrounding area was very nice and the pool was clean. Maria Luisa beach is gorgeous and only a few steps away. There are also a few other beaches that you can get to from that beach over a few rocks when the tide is out or on the road close by. We did go out of season so it was VERY quiet but there are quite a few nice restaurants and bars nearby and it's only a short taxi ride away from Albufeira if you want something busier."
Top Tip:
"I've never had a nice Chinese meal when I've been abroad so I had almost given up until somebody recommended the chinese restaurant in Ohlos d'agua (can't remember the name but it is the only one there!). The service was excellend and the food delicious! A very good Portuguese restaurant is Calheiros. The steak is great. Oh and if you can, organise a taxi to collect you from the airport (from Ohlos d'agua) for around €25 otherwise you'll end up paying €45 like we did and the driver couldn't even find where the hotel was!"

"The pool was a bit of a disapointment, the reason being the steps in&out of the pool were at the deep end ! my partner can't swim so this made it difficult."

"You need to visit " Holidays " bar not far from the complex, Gary&Ian make you feel very welcome.
Geordie Pride is another friendly place to eat &drink,ask around and anybody will tell you where it is."
