Christopher from Old Oxted reviewed the Cortijo el Sotillo Hotel
"Beautiful hotel, wonderfully laid out. The pool was VERY cold but refreshing. The fact that the hotel is a few yards outside the edge of town may be off-putting for some but we found the walk safe enough and quite short (although a torch is recommended). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and our room was kept immaculate by the cleaners, large rooms as well. The only down-side was the restaurant - you can enjoy nicer and cheaper meals in the town and on the harbour quay."
Top Tip:
"The best (and strangely the cheapest) restaurant we found was Restauranto Mediterraneo, the last restaurant along the line of restaurants located as you approach the harbour - great tasty fresh seafood and plenty of it was the order of the day coupled with a friendly service.

A must-do for horse riders is a beach ride from Cortijo El Sotillo - well looked after horses, a fun and friendly guide and galloping on the beach!

A drive to the Cabo de Gata lighthouse for sunset is highly recommended."

This unique, perfectly kept, air-conditioned property dates back to the first half of the 18th century and is one of the most characteristic, emblematic buildings in the national park. In addition to its modern service, the hotel is also ideal for exploring the countryside. The complex offers 20 rooms and is stunning located in the green surroundings. Facilities include a lobby with a 24/hour reception and a safe, as well as a café, a bar, a restaurant, a games room, a TV room, a playground and meeting facilities. In addition, the hotel provides rooms service, laundry service (fees apply), bike rental and a garage.
