  • "A basic, but clean and very pleasant base to relax. Location wise, wouldn't be the best for anyone with mobility difficulties/wheelchair users as the surrounding area is quite hilly and steep in areas."

  • "On the whole I liked the hotel but I found the staff on reception a bit unhelpful. The shower was broken on arrival and we asked for a different room it felt as if we were bothering him. Then the next day we report the television wasn't working and were told it was just bad reception we didn't bother as we didn't intend to watch much television but later in the week it rained and quite a few guests were watching football on tv and we mentioned it again and after a huff and puff tv was changed it was nothing to do with reception. On the same evening when it was raining our rome was allocated to another guest in error and they came into our room just a mistake but the staff did not apoligies when the next day we couldn't get back into our room because our key card had been cancelled saying technology said it wasn't possibleThe other thing I felt was wrong with hotel is there was no bar during the day for drinks or snacks. We tend to be out and about but for those who like to stay around the pool it was a 15 minute walk to shops and 15 minutes back."

  • RICHARD from NOTTINGHAM reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. the food was ok but nothing special. Sadly for the hotel its position is not that near to restaurants and there is a serious downhill walk to the beach. Accordingly there is an even more serious walk back up from the beach. The beach however is very nice and there is a pleasant walk around the headland to the port. Although it is a lovely place to be do not think about dining in the area near to the port unless you have very deep pockets.
Being fairly active I could consider returning to this hotel again but not till the beds have been replaced. Ours were very uncomfortable and when I pointed this out at reception I was told that they were all the same. I guess you get what you pay for!"

  • "This is our second visit to hotel Costa Portals and we yet again had a great time and the hotel exceeded our expectations. In terms of value for money you could not ask for any more. The hotel has recently been refurbished and is modern, clean and they have maid service every day. The buffet style breakfast and dinner always vary. The food is fresh and they offer an excellent selection to suit all.

The pool area is also clean and tidy and the bar near bar serves drinks and snacks.

I would definatley go back to Costa Portals again and recommend it to all!!!"

  • Top Tip:

"There is a fabulous private tiny beach just a short walk away that many people are unaware of! If you turn right out of the hotel and take your next right down a very steep hill... get to the bottom and turn right again the beach is there at your feet! (5 min walk). I would say however, that Costa Portals is at the top of a hill so not great if you struggle to get around! We hired a car and this was great as we were able to visit our favourite nearby town that is full of shops and restaurants called Port Andratx."

  • "On arrival we were told there was no room available for us. Thre was a coach party from Holland who were still in residence. It should have been no surprise to us as we had read that this had happened before. We were taken to another hotel where we stayed for one night and the following morning. It was a bit of a scutter but par for the course I suppose. The manager was a bit dour but the staff were ok.

The rooms were fine but smaller than usual and the Pool was a lot smaller than the photo on their site would suggest. The food was adequate but not always hot. There was one restaurant near the hotel but you would have a stiff walk up the hill for a choise There was an English Pub and an Irish Pub and some nice restaurants also. The hotel itself was situated in a wooded and mainly residential zone. Quite quiet and nice. The small beach down the road, very steep, was lovely, about 100 yards wideand quite enlosed. A nice change from some of the larger beaches. As it is very hilly in the area it might not be suitable for some people. I am 75 years old and managed ok but it would depend on your personal fitness."

  • Leah from St Albans reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "The hotel was very modern, clean and relaxing. The hotel is in a great location, just far enough away from the marina to enjoy the quietness. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the restaurant staff - they are unfriendly, abrupt and do not smile!!! It felt like being in a prison at breakfast, which ran from 8am - 10am PROMT! At 9.59 the doors were closed, curtain pulled across and the lights turned off! Very unwelcoming, especially when you're on your holiday!! However, apart from that, I would recommend the hotel. Had a great holiday!"

  • Top Tip:

"There was a great little restaurant a 30 second walk from the hotel, called Parrot tavern....fanatastic food, even better prices and a very friendly & relaxed atmosphere. Turn left out of the hotel and it's down a little way on the left.

Spag bol on Sunday night for 8euros - delicious!!"

  • "On arrival we were told that the hotel was overbooked and that we would not be able to get a room until the next day. They said that they would put us up in a hotel that was a 10 min taxi ride away and would arrange for a taxi to bring us back to the hotel the next day, but would only be able to check in after 12 o'clock. Not very impressed with the start to our holiday but they hotel they put us up in was very satisfactory and we didn't cause any fuss. Once we were back at the hotel we were meant to stay at the hotel was up to our expectations and we were happy enough with our stay."

  • Russell from Bournemouth reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "We
thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Costa Portals Hotel, Portals Nous, Majorca. It is definitely a quiet hotel - which suited us immensely. Once a week there was music entertainment - very good too.

Definitely not a good hotel if you wanted to be entertained and expected noisey night life. But, we didn't want any of this!

The food was plentiful - maybe slightly repetitive - but, it must be very difficult catering for large numbers day in, day out. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and all the staff were nice and friendly.

Our rooms were immaculate - cleaned daily. The rooms overlooking the swimming pool were larger (and with balconies) - the road side rooms looked fairly small in comparison. We had a super room, with large balcony and enjoyed everything.

Thank you for helping us book a super break away."

  • Top Tip:

"Lovely small cove - called Portals Nous. Also posh marina 15 minutes walk away - makes a nice jaunt in the evening, with a coffee at the end!!
We hired a car and it was easy to park in the road beside the hotel. Buses were frequent, but we found they had often filled up with passengers before passing our stop - so we were glad of our car!"

We spoke to several other people who were on their third or fourth visit to the hotel, which is an excellent recommendation."

  • Top Tip:

"We found the hill (nicknamed Killer Hill!) was a bit of an adventure, but only took a few minutes there and back from the Hotel, and the little unspoiled beach was an absolute pleasure. • "Unfortunately, for personal reasons, I wasn't able to go on the holiday to Majorca. I did ring you on the 28th May to ask if you could change the dates of the booking. I was told that you would enquire, I would probably have to pay £20 or £30 for the change, and that you would email me. I had not heard by the following day so rang you again, and was told that the hotel would not agree to the change because of the lateness of the request. I have written to you to say that I thought this was very harsh- I was quite prepared to pay a change fee. I am certain if I had booked the hotel direct it would not have been a problem, so perhaps this is what I will do in future for accommodation."

  • "We found this hotel excellent value for money.
We had a lovely modern room overlooking the pool. It was spacious with good views and a large balcony/terrace (1st floor). The rooms to the rear of the hotel were smaller.
The hotel was kept very clean.
The restaurant was modern, clean and the meals were very good.
The hotel provided free internet whilst we were there, although we were told that they were going to change this to a pay facility.
The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area which we like. However as it is hilly I don't think it would be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
    Staff were friendly."

  • Top Tip:

"There is a nice walk along the hilltop from this hotel into the Marina area of Portals Nous. You walk out of the hotel turn right, then right again and down to the small beach. Looking to your right you will see the Playa Portals restaurant. Go up the steps and follow the public footpath along the hill top. You will then see the church. Go down the steps on your left hand side onto the larger beach, follow the beach to the Marina area. It is much nicer than walking the road into the Marina."

  • "Our first stay at this hotel, but what must be our 25th visit to this area (Portals Nous), so we knew our way around, eg what to do, where to eat etc.
This is not a place (district) that one could stay if personal mobility is a problem as all appproaches to the hotel are up steep hills, but we knew this and it made no difference to us personally.
The hotel itself we found to be very clean and comfortable, breakfast was superb although for the one dinner that we had (12 Euros/person) lacked a little in choice.
The staff were very friendly and we would stay at Costa Portals again although not in high season. At the time we stayed it was exceptional value for money.
    Thank you very much indeed!
    Peter and Pat Stiffell"

  • Top Tip:

"Playa Panorama beach is better for "sun worshipers" as you can take the sun all day long without moving to avoid shade.
The best three places to eat in the evenings are (in no particular order) Flintstones (basic but large meals and best coffee), The Crazy Dolphin opposite Marineland and Jose's which is run by a very friendly young couple (one Italian and one English)."

There was a good selection of food, much of it was Spanish (as opposed to catering for the Brits) but I mention this as a positive aspect. • Brendan from London reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "When we first arrived we were allocated double rooms, which, for 4 lads staying together was not ideal! Reception were not very apologetic but we had a laugh about it, and they gave us a large triple with a big terrace, and a single the following night.

The rooms on the pool side are large with good size balconies/terraces. The rooms on the other side are pretty tiny, and many have no balconies. These rooms are cramped an poor.

The hotel itself has a lovely bar and pool area with pool table and table tennis. The staff are very friendly and breakfast is ok without being spectacular. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table each morning but maybe this is because we were quite late.

This place is suited to older people and doesn't have much for kids. For us, it was great to have somewhere to kick back during the day before having some drinks somewhere a bit more lively in the evening."

  • Top Tip:

  • Susanne from Bognor Regis reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "The reception staff were really friendly and helpfull and often went out of their way to help, as were the cleaners! Our rooms were cleaned every day and tidied up for us, which was a really nice touch."

  • Top Tip:

"Go to the smaller beach down the hill from the hotel; it is quieter and if you buy a snorkel from the little shop opposite you can snorkel with the fish that are all around the bay - amazing."

  • Olwyn from Manchester reviewed the Costa Portals Hotel

  • "A glass house reception area greets you on arrival at this hotel. Inside it is spotlessly clean deceptively spacious and furnished in a modern but uncluttered style. The bar/lounge and terrace areas adjoin a smart restraurant adjacent to a small outdoor pool. complete with loungers and chairs.

The rooms are also clean, modern and tastefully tiled, and at the time of this report were totally free from dirty grout, stains and rust. Stylish washbasin and wc was complimented by a bath & shower with screen--- a country mile better than the norm for a hotel of this category. In fact the whole place looked to have been recently refurbished and modernized.

A decent choice of food options were offered from a well laid out comprehensive buffet and the quality was more than acceptable for this authors palate. English guests may or may not be impressed with the Brown HP sauce availability.

This hotel is an ideal choice for middle aged couples upwards or mature guests who wish to avoid staying in the pandemonium of Palma Nova in peak season but who may be tempted to visit there for the odd anti ageing ego-boost.

Portals Nous is only 4km away from the pomp of Palma Nova and 6km from the Moon Man mentality of Magalluf but this tasty little resort and particularly Puerto Portals is in terms of class and style more like( I would walk) 500 miles as the great song says.

It is NOT reccommended for people with walking difficulties or resparitory problems due to its hilly location or Hed Kandi freaks on release from San Antonio. This is more Prada than Peacocks!!

Its a "must go" so put it on your "list of things to do before you die". And just like Bernard Manning-- you'll go out with a laugh, a big smile on your face cocking 2 fingers up to the rest of the world."

  • Top Tip:

"Puerto Portals, easily reached by car from the hotel is a quality upmarket development built around a superb marina. Bars and restaurants line the port to create an ambience and atmosphere to relish providing you DONT want to sing "Amarillo" on the karaoke or make a prat out of yourself doing a gallon of ale
to impress your moron minded mates!!"
