"All staff very friendly, location for downtown excellent.
Can do dine-around from this hotel.
Free boat to beach."

"The thing about El Gouna is that it’s set up for the Germans and Russians, this means Dawar El Omda is focused for them which is where the lack of spoken English became sort of a problem."

"Friendly and helpful staff and very attractivley furnished in traditional fabrics and style. Even though we arrived late they provided us with a snack and drink. The grounds were well laid out with flowers around. We only stayed one night but I would recommend it to others."

"El Gouna is a windy resort and the Dawar el Omda is not in the best position as far as this is concerned. We found that the Sultan Bey was in a much more sheltered spot"

"Although we requested not a ground floor room, we were allocated such a room on arrival. The air conditioning unit was unbelievably noisy and emmited black particles when started each time, and because we were on the ground floor we could not leave the outer doors open at night. We reported this to reception but we were told that the hotel was completely full that night and we could not be moved, and to try again the next day.
Well we had a sleepless first night.
At the second attempt the following morning, and with great help from our daughter, who lives and works in El Gouna, we were moved, by a very pleasant and helpful, different receptionist, to perhaps one of the best rooms in the entire hotel.
The room was spacious, clean ,wonderful A/C and a spectacular view from its first floor balcony.
All the staff were very courteous and the room was kept really clean, with fresh towels each day.
As far as the restaurant goes, the food choice was poor and we ate out most evenings. The restaurant was far too small to cope with the number of people wishing to eat at 7pm, when it first opened, and the demarcation between smoking and non-smoking was a joke. On a better note, the " egg - man" at breakfast was superb, and did not break a single fried egg the whole fortnight !
We made full use of the " Dine Around " voucher system, which meant we could eat instead at other restaurants in El Gouna for no extra charge on three of the evenings -well worth considering.
Overall we would say that this hotel is extremely good value for money and we would certainly return here, but on a bed and breakfast basis, and with some say in the choice of room.
In El Gouna the hotel is classed as 3 Star and not 4 and we would agree with this.
El Gouna is a wonderful resort, with none of the hassle and pressure often found in other Egyptian destinations. It is also great for diving."

"It made a change to stay in a smaller hotel where the staff made it more personal as they got to see you more often and you made friends with guests easier for the same reason. The location was perfect for the evening strolls, shops and entertainment. The food was varied and of god quality.
This hotel is worthy of its stars rating and recommended.
EL Gouna is clean, safe at night and very welcoming."

"The standards of this hotel for the price were excellent and El Gouna is definitely a must for anyone wishing to see the Red Sea from a more luxorious perspective. The buffet breakfasts were excellent compared to other hotels i have stayed in in Egypt, with a selection of pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, eggs, omelettes and sausages. The room was also excellent with brilliant facilities and the infinity pool really topped it off...
the hotel ran a free shuttle boat across the lagoon to a private beach and the snorkelling there off of the jetty was incredible.
The only thing I would fault about this hotel was the manner of the staff, who were very stuck up to the point of being rude. Everywhere else we stayed in Egypt people were extremely friendly, but the staff here (including the manager) had very bad manners.
All in all, a pleasant stay!"

"We have stayed at the Dawar El Omda four times now and have no complaints.
\all the staff are very helpfull, friendly without being gushing. The rooms we have stayed in are fine every time we go, and the hotel is in a very convenient situation."

"A particular feature of the hotel was the friendly and helpful staff. We felt really welcome during our stay which is even more important perhaps than the quality of the accommodation which was also good. The hotel is relaxing and usually quiet, with nighttime activities winding down around 11.30 pm."

"The food was rather poor when we first arrived but improved by the end of the week as they changed the chef. The other thing I have to say about the hotel is that they had the strange habit of cleaning the terrace outside our bedroom window at 4:30 am every morning thereby waking me up even though I complained about this twice. The music could also be a little loud but was switched off when asked to be turned down. the location was great and the room was lovely (although not as clean as I would have liked)"
