Yasmin from Sheffield reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"The hotel was covered in scaffolding when we got there! I was not impressed. The roof top restaurant was a joke. The buffet breakfast was practically non existent, and the food that was there was inedible. They even used watered down milk for breakfast after initially giving us proper milk!"
Peter from Enfield reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"Very Impressed actually. Considering it was £16 for 2 nights, the hotel is right in the center of town with a lovely rooftop terrace with an excellent sunset view. It's basic and quite primitive but well worth the money.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast was included, no stomach problems or issues with food being under cooked. All in all a good deal!"
diane from stanford in the vale reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"The Emilio is a great place to stay. You can admire Luxor Temple while eating breakfast on the roof! The hotel is also only a short walk to the ferry that crosses to the west bank. "
Patricia from Mid Glamorgan reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"The Emilio Hotel in Luxor is always great. Staff improving with every visit. Food improved greatly over the past 12 months. Rooms are always very clean as are the bathrooms. The hotel is gvery convenient for all the sites and mostly in walking distance to great restaurants and to the souk. The ferry to the West Bank is also within walking distance. I have stayed at this particular hotel many, many times and it is always my first choice. The view from the pool on the roof is the best in Luxor and I would return just for that."
Top Tip:
"One of the best restaurants is in the souk. The Lotus. Great menu and better still, great prices."
Maureen from Glasgow reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"A good, friendly, clean place, very central, noisy by day but quietens down by night. It is well situated for Luxor Temple. It is certainly not expensive, so I would have no hesitation in recommending it. "
Top Tip:
"Went to a nearby restaurant called Lotus, which was good enough. They will serve alcohol if you insist, but you have to ask firmly. Odd!"
maureen from hamilton reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"For a 3 star hotel the cleanliness of the emilio hotel in luxor was fantastic. Our 1st time in egypt, we were apprehensive of everything but the staff at the emilio were very friendly and helpful. Tipping staff well at the emilio makes them even more friendly!! The hotel is situated in the centre of luxor so expect lots of prayers several times throughout the night along with the constant beep of taxis. the plus points are the police station is across the road and round the corner is the bank and the nile front is 3 min away. Room 414 has a spectacular view of luxor temple. Only go half board if you really like egyptian food and we mean if you really really like egyptian food, otherwise go and eat at the many food places down at the nile valley shops (look for the mummification museum and go left til you reach the stairs, down to boats). Dont get talked into the hotel's egyptian night, as we found 1 couple was charged £5 each and we were charged £10 each even though we all stayed in hotel and paid same room rates and didnt even want to go! Tour guides at hotels are very good, recommend travco and guide anton and soraya. Visits to sites such as valley of kings, through them, very safe and lots of information gained through tours."
Top Tip:
"Hotel is bang in centre of town and as soon as you go out you will have constant hassle, avoid horse & carriages and anyone who wants to take you to MARKET! so try this: locals will leave you alone if you look as if your having a deep conversation, so talk gibberish if you have too while walking. Apart from the rest had a great hol and will certainly go back to same hotel and same place."
John from Smethwick reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The view from the roof is superb. The only thing that let the hotel down was the street corner just outside the hotel (not really the hotel's fault!). I would recommend the Emilio hotel to anyone."
Top Tip:
"When you leave the hotel to walk anywhere, turn left and go around the back of the hotel. If you turn right you will get harrassed to death by the taxi and horse carriage drivers. Second tip - if you want drinks, go to the little shop next door to the hotel (Michael is very friendly and helpful), a can of Coke (330ml) in the hotel is 10 EGP, a bottle of Coke (1L) next door is 4 EGP."
"Well run, friendly staff nothing is too much trouble. Clean tidy rooms. Very central.
Shame about the all night disco next door and the hotel being on the local bus route. So if you want a good nights sleep then make sure your in the right room.
Good value nevertheless at 7gbp per person per night half board. Food very good."
stephen from macclesfield reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"I have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and normally book direct, however it was cheaper this time to book via travel republic. On this stay though the manager demanded £10 in cash upon my arrival, firstly intimating that if I wanted a good room then I should make the extra payment, then when I questioned that he said that the payment was for a party that was to take place on the roof of the hotel, he was very insistant that the £10 was paid even though I didn't really want to attend the party, when I asked If I could have a safety deposit box for free he told me I could have one for half price at 5 egyptian pounds per day ,well the normal price I know is 5 egyptian pounds so he can be a little bit tricky to deal with.
On the other hand I found all of the staff very friendly and helpful at all times, my room was cleaned every day, the food in the hotel is ok, but is very much more expensive than the restaurants nearby, the cost of drinks is very high, ie a large bottle of water is 2 or 3 egypt pounds outside of the hotel as against 10 egypt pounds from the hotel.
One more point is when you arrive, if you have two bags, it seems a porter can only carry one bag, so you end up with two porters and as a consequence, have to pay two tips, the same thing will happen when you are leaving, you will find the porters and cleaners, become very attentive on the day you are due to leave, even hanging around outside your room!!!! "

"Please please do not use the horse carriages not only are they very dangerous but you will undoutably get ripped off by them, If you can't resist though, please make sure there are no more than three passangers and DON'T allow the driver to gallop the horse.
If you need to see more reasons why you should not use the horse carriages search the web for Ace Egypt, and Awol Egypt."
Audrey from London reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"The hospitality was lovely, although being a single female there was a fine line between what was hospitable kindness and what was verging on harassment. Staff, as pleasant and friendly, and SAFE as they were needed to be told when enough was enough. Pool was great and the food on the roof terrace was lovely. The room itself was small, but cosy, and the towels were folded into swans and boats each day HOWEVER, the "do not disturb" sign doesn't mean much, AND on the day I was checking out they merely made my bed rather than changed the sheets...doesn't really bear thinking about..."
Top Tip:
"Lovely restaurant for Egyptian buffet outside the hotel, turn R, cross the road, go through the market and cross to the Nile - it's just there!"
"Very friendly staff and room is ok. Small but good enough to shower and rest. Food is nice. Hotel is in the centre of the town and can be very noisy. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who is open minded and happy to use a hotel for refreshing ones self after walking around town."
Top Tip:
"Cafe Amoun just across the road from the hotel is a great place to eat and caters for all kinds. Food is chep and the cafe has good air conditioning."
Geinur from kidwelly reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"this hote was a basic 3* hotel, but with exellent food with plenty of choice. The staff couldnt do enough for you and it was very friendly. The pool was to small and not enough foom to sunbeathe. Bar service was very good. I would return."
Top Tip:
"A brows around the market is a big!! YES with plenty of choice of everything you can think of."
sara donna from portadown reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"Stayed twice at the emilio and equally pleasing, very friendly and helpful, waiters on the roof top swimming area had a great sense of humour and were entertaining with the kids. very relaxing atmosphere. Hotel basic, clean and central to everything/everywhere. Excellent value for money!"

"For good british food, we found most were at the other end of luxor, up past the sonesta and is worth a pleasureable kalesh trip to. Our children enjoyed the funfair by the St Josephs, as most of the holiday was cultural it was nice for them to be able to run about and drain some of the heat driven lethargy which had accumulated throughout the day. Jolleys tour shop on the corniche was very reasonably priced and negotiable if you went back and booked another trip. "
michelle from newcastle upon tyne reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"Hotel was very nice - always clean. Rooms cleaned every day and ALL staff are very friendly. The locals are usually ok but can be very annoying at times but if you ignore them they go away - my only complaint would be the drivers of the horse and carts, they often follow you and dont take no for an answer. There is always diffeent things to do and see which is cheaper to do on your own and not through reps e.g. a taxi will take you out for the whole day and wait while you go off and explore, its very cheap but you have to haggle to get the right price. Taxi form airport only costs around £3.50 but you have to haggle with the driver - dont pay more than £5. Overall a very nice stay in Luxor and would go back and recomend this hotel. "
Top Tip:
"Very nice English bar called Genisis but its a bit out the way - but taxis are cheap so its deffinatley worth a visit."
Susan from Altrincham reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
"For a 3 star hotel, it was extremely good value for money, and I travelled as a single and got a twin room, the staff were lovely and helpful, the food was good (although a few English did moan about it, but I only paid £12 HB and I thought it was brilliant). The view of the Nile from the pool area on the roof was lovely. The only negative point was that the Emilio is in the centre of town and is very noisy with the traffic and car horns. So be warned about the noise, but I would recommend the Emilio for good all round value, and as I said the staff make it all worth while."
Top Tip:
"If you want a change from the pool at the Emilio, go to the Mercure Hotel round the corner, they only charge £2.50 to use their pool and they have lovely gardens."
ann from manchester reviewed the Emilio Luxor Hotel
