  • Karen from Merseyside reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "Went at the end of October the hotel was very quite. The pool being on the roof made it difficult for my mum to climb the stairs. Also there was only vending machines at the pool area that were switched off. No pool attendant and if you wanted to use the sunlounges you had to move a weight off them, if you wanted a parasol you had to go thorough the lot of them to find one that was not broken. The room was small for three people"

  • Karen from Bury reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "I am sorry to say that the El Puerto is the second worst hotel I have ever stayed in (the worst being a hotel on the Costa Brava in 1990!) The Reception area is OK but this is deceiving. The rooms are tiny, dingy and dark due to having no overhead light, the only lights are reading lights above the beds. The carpet on the floor looks filthy. The lifts are a joke - you have no idea if or where they'll stop! Several times we gave up and walked but we were on the 6th floor - I don't think this would be a good idea if you were on the 16th floor! The food in the restaurant is edible but is repetitiive and luke warm. The restaurant itself is like the rest of the hotel - shabby and dated. The whole place needs a major facelift. Having said all this, El Puerto does have a few plus points - the location is great and it isn't as noisy as some hotels I've stayed in on the Costa Del Sol. The rooms are kept immaculately clean by the maids (although they can't do much with the carpets). Also, the view from the balcony is fantastic if you're brave enough to out there!"

  • Top Tip:

"Don't change your money at Reception - the exchange rate is awful. You'll get a much better rate in the town."

  • ANTHONY from WOLVERHAMPTON reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "Hotel was your average 3* so dont expect anything extra. It was clean & comfortable and the rooms although seemed a little small they were ok for 2 persons. As usual the only English TV channel was sky News. The major plus for this hotel were the views from your room all along the coast and hills to the rear if you had a front or side facing room. The major moan from me was there was little choice of food in the restaurant and it seemed at times a little under cooked. Other than that the lifts although 3 of them we sometimes had to wait upto 6 mins to get one. Drinks prices in the hotel are expensive for a 3 star hotel. All in all a fair price stay for what we paid and a score of 7.5 out of 10."

  • Top Tip:

"Best priced drinks to be found in the bars to the rear of the hotel. Many have a happy hour or 4 hours even at night."

  • Lyn from Blackpool reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "Hotel was really good, food good if anything the room needed a little TLC. The week we were there there was a lot of noise throughout the night by youngsters who were in the hotle attending a roller blade convention - they seemed to want to stand on the corridor chatting and laughing loudly until the early hours. Thought the night porter could have done some trawling of the corridors to alleviate this, but they did not."

  • Anthony from Walsall reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "Nice hotel but the magnificent foyer and staircase are a little misleading, very disappointed when we got to our room on the 11th floor, couldn't distinguish the patterns from the stains on the carpet!
Could certainly do with a refurb. Main gripe was that the air-con automatically switches off during the middle of the night, just when you need it most. However the location was just perfect for what we wanted and the price was very reasonable."

  • Top Tip:

"The yorkshire rose pub at the start of fish alley served a superb meal, a little more upmarket than most of the other brit-pubs. worth finding the Bistro restaurant, in one of the back streets a bit further down, definitely worth searching for."

  • "Good situation close to beach and marina- Food was ok evening meal was very good breakfast about average. Room very clean and in good condition overall. Staff very friendly and helpful indeed got intomour room for 1pm didnt have to wait for 3pm which was good.Entertainment was not that good but this wasn't a worry to us. Loved the pool and not worriying about getting a sunbed or brolly these were always available no need to get up early to put towels on.
Very close to train station so got from malaga airport for only 3.8 euros return!!! each
Was a bit noisy until early hours but we coped ok with patio closed and air conditioning on.Would go there again is good for a 3 star hotel
We asked for on our booking (and got) high up room in larger tower and got room overlooking pool and beach fab views.
We love travel republic and now using them for all our holidays aready booked with them for 2009!!"

  • Top Tip:

"Found lots of restauarants and bars within very little walking distance Obriens great fordraught guiness at 4 euros a pint and very basis toon bar only 1.5 euros for pint draught san miguel. Found great english tea house called "Tempatations" in las ramplas facing Dunnes- pots of tea, carrot cake and deep apple pie and sanwiches to die for went every afternoon about 2.30pm (closed 3.30-5.30) you must try it.
Get the train from malage airport saves you lots of dosh and a good pleaseant journey only 600 metres to hotel .
Must go to Tues market lots of bargains but very big and takes a few hours to get round it"

  • "Lovely clean hotel, right in the heart of Feungirola. Beach opposite the hotel, surronded by local bars and restaurants. We were half board and the food was great, with a wide variety to choose from. The swimming pool was on the roof and you need to climb quite a few steps to get to the top, but overall a highly recommended hotel."

  • Charles from Armagh reviewed the El Puerto Hotel

  • "Holiday in general was very good in terms of staff assistance, room cleanliness, etc.

In catering terms, evening meals were reasonable but breakfast service was mediocre with in particular sub standard hot dishes. Hot drinks such as tea and coffee were very distasteful persumably due to water quality.

Howerver overall rating of hotel 7 out of 10."
