Very pleased with accomodation. We had a large room (double) on 8th floor, Our kids had a twin (with rollaway) triple room on 10th floor. We were able to park under the hotel @ 8 euros per day. Buffet breakfast was plenty adequate.

There is a shopping mall next door with plenty of places to eat. Biggest downside was smoking, Our room had previously obviously had a smoker (we requested no smoking room) which was unpleasant & also the shopping malls don't have segregated no smoking areas (except McDonalds). The hotel next door (3 star) serves lunch time & evening meals. There was not a problem with smoking in the hotel restaurants. The staff at hotel were pleasant & even allowed us to check in about 30 mins early. I would definitely be happy to come here again for a long weekend

Top Tip top tip would be ask for your meat to be well done if you don't like it 'blue' or very rare.

I was 95% pleased with the hotel; the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was of a high standard and the rooms were both comfortable and big. The only problem we had was with the tv not working properly on all channels (english channels). Obviously this was a minor problem as we spent most of our time out of the hotel, but wanted to inform you incase its a continued problem but its not a complaint.

Top Tip Right next to the hotel is a good sized shopping centre with a good choice of fast food type restaurants as well as large variety of shops including supermarket.

Having got lost and evetually arriving at the hotel very late at night a ltttle worse for wear and very tired we were welcomed by 2 wonderful receptionists who were very helpful & considerate, having booked in we found our room to be excellent and a fantastic bargain, the late night bar man was excellent although he spoke very little English and we no Portuguese, he managed to serve us exactly what we wanted , he had a fabulous smile and was a very happy man , a delight to be served by such a happy person. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Very highly recommeded , May we add on our return journey this hotel was fully booked but recommended a hotel, the Ipanema Park , this was even 10 times better , a fantastic group of hotels.

Top Tip There was a restaurant directly opposite but to the left of the main reception door of the Fenix hotel , on the corner , it appeared to be 3 restaurants in one , 1st - like a snack bar , 2nd- a more upgraded "cafebar" , where we did eat and found the waiters to be very helpful even though they spoke very little English & we no Portuguese except " per favor & obrigado", the food was plain and simple but very good, 3rd restaurant appeared to be a "true " restaurant , mainly selling fresh fish & sea food courses, from what we could see it was very busy with local people, obviously a good sign. We would recommend this but unfortunately cannot remember the name , Sorry
