"Absolutely loved the resort. Very clean and the food was great. The people who worked there could not be faulted. Very helpful and always very friendly. The pools were clean and there was plenty of space in them. The beach was a 3 minute walk away and was idyllic. Snorkelling was a must, looking at tropical fish in clear water. The room was very clean and big, although a little dated. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would also go back."
Top Tip:
"Take your swimming goggles with you. Take lots of $1 bills as these are great to leave tips for the very friendly people who work there."

"the staff were very friendly and helpful. the beach was right next door to the complex and was beautful, the coral started about 10ft from the shore and you could hand feed the fish. the level of security was second to none, as a lone girl walkin round i never felt intimidated once, and after all the horror stories about how dangerous dominican was i feel this is something to point out. the buffet restaurant was good quality, and the al la carte restaurants were even better!!! the rooms were good, very well air conditioned and tastefully decorated and secure. the evening entertainment began to drag after a week-theres a good looking childrens club which seemed to keep the children entertained-adults will have the songs stuck in their head for about 2.5 months after arriving home!! nothing is too much trouble at this hotel and anything which isnot there you want, wouldnt be a problem to ask for!"

"hemmingways is a brilliant pub, about 5 min away from complex, brilliant food and drink, the staff were second to none, all made you feel like regulars at your first visit. a 5 min walk either way on the beach reveals a completely different looking beach to relax and explore-including one with 4 poster beds!! the only negative about the place i would put is the local shops and how much the staff watch you. you take a step, they do. you look at something and they are throwing prices at you, it does get too much and is like no where iv ever experienced before! also id recommend shopping around for tours, the local shopping centre excelled expectations and deals compared to what the hotel could offer"

"nice hotel great location on the beach it was like looking at a paridise island the staff where fiendly and always preparied to help excelent food and plenty of it ,the hotel rooms do not have very good ocean views,the al a cart restaurants very good. customer service was great night time entertaiment was poor stage shows where a big let down for the price this was a good all incluesive hotel good for familys"

"this hotel sits in playa dorada village off the main road with nothing else there the shoping plaza was vey expensiveand not much there if you are looking for things to do at nighttime you will be disapointed "

"Excellent value for money hotel. Friendly staff that can't do enough for you. Welcome drink on arrival most welcome after a long flight. Some rooms in need of a refurb though they were always clean and this did not affect our enjoyment of the hotel in anyway."

"This hotel is kept incredibly clean. The food was excellent and we heard no reports of tummy upsets. The themed restaurants were very good indeed and the staff were very friendly. Overall this hotel represented superb value for money and we would certainly return."
Top Tip:
"The safari trip and Paradise Island are worth visiting. If you want to go deep sea fishing do not use the beach vendors as their boat is not too seaworthy and they make little effort to catch fish. Best to book with the English guys onsite."

"The hotel had some of the overspill from Bahir Principe and appeared to struggle with the high numbers. At times the bar service was awful and the drinks weren't even that nice."

Gran Ventana Beach Resort offers a distinctive blend of sophisticated design with the charm and hospitality of the Dominican Republic. The resorts lobby extends with beamed ceilings and a view of the ocean as its center piece. Exceptional service and a sense of relaxation greet singles, couples and families from the moment of arrival.

Accommodation

The resort consists of 506 stylishly appointed rooms including superior guest rooms, suites, junior suites and penthouses. Each room features a spacious balcony or terrace and some offer stunning ocean views. All rooms are equipped with:2 double beds or 1 king size bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, hair dryer, mini-bar (restocked daily), safe deposit boxes (extra charge), direct dial telephone, cable TV.

All Inclusive Food & Drinks

The AI programme consists of breakfast (07:00-10:30), continental breakfast (10:30-11:00), lunch (12:30-15:00) and dinner (18:30-22:00), all buffet style, served in the cafeteria Las Almejas. During meals coffee, milk, tea, juices and other national drinks are offered. Lunch is also available at Caracol beach club / snack bar between 12:00 & 15:00 as well as snacks from 15:00-17:00. At the beach club guests can find salads, sandwiches, pizza, fried potatoes, hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, fried fish and fruit between 12:00 & 17:00. Three A la Carte restaurants are at the disposal of the AI guests; the Octopus gourmet restaurant (Caribbean cuisine closed on Tuesday), the Ocean grill (meats, fish and seafood on the grill closed on Sunday) and the Sapore Di Mare (Italian cuisine closed on Monday). Reservation required for all of them (seating: 18:30-19:00-19:30-20:30-21:00). Locally produced AI drinks are served at the lobby bar Café Canela (16:00-24:00), pool bar/swim-up bar (10:00-18:00), pool-terrace bar (10:00-24:00), beach club bar (12:00-17:00), Coco beach bar (10:00-15:00), Tiki pool bar (10:00-22:00) and at the late night snack bar (serving snacks like hot dogs & sandwiches as well as drinks such as soda, cuba libre and beer until 02:00).

All Inclusive Sports & Entertainment

Sport facilities at the hotel include one hour daily use of bicycles, water sports like snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing & kayaks (closed on Sunday) and tennis (day/night, reservation required), one hour per stay scuba clinic, gym & sauna, kids club, daily activities & night entertainment, beach & pool towels and chaise lounges by the pool & at the beach. Also available are ice deposits on every floor, TV remote control (please ask at front desk), baby cribs and rollaway beds.

Chargeable Extras

International drinks, water ski, parasailing, jet ski, catamaran, deep sea fishing, banana boat, motorbike & car rental, massage, safety deposit boxes, conference room, beauty salon, exchange bank, gift shop, baby sitting service (contact front office) and wedding package are not included in the AI concept.

Facilities & Services

Banquets and conventions, massages, safe deposit box, conference room with capacity for 250 guests and audio & visual equipment are also available.

All Inclusive General Info

Swimming suits are not permitted in the Las Almejas; only dry clothes & shoes. Dress code also applies for the A la Carte restaurants (casual/elegance no shorts). Other hotel rules & info: air conditioning shuts off when sliding door to the balcony is open; beach & pool towels can be picked up at the activities centre by presenting your towel card; hanging clothes or towels on the balcony veranda is not allowed there is a clothes line in the bathroom; do not disturb sign on the door must be knobbed when needed.
