"We stayed at the Balcon Del Mar Apartments in the old town of Puerto Del Carmen - they were superb. Clean, fully equipped and such friendly helpful staff - the sea view rooms are the perfect sun-trap and you can also look out to Fuerteventura. This was our first time in Lanzarote and we can't believe we haven't been there before. It's the best of the Canary Islands and we will definitely be going back."
Top Tip:
"If a pint of guiness is your tipple, then you MUST go to The Crowded House bar - Liam and Anita are so friendly and he does his own music every evening - he is a brilliant guitarist and covers music to suit all tastes. Bodega Restaurant is very good - all sorts of meat, fish, chicken etc. and cooked to your liking (they are also have tapas next door - again, very good) - in fact, this restaurant is so good, we ate there 4 times in a week!! Bodega Jose Restaurant is great for a roast - it's a carvery and the quality is excellent - they are closed on Mondays though."Balcon Del Mar Apartments check-in Date:

"Cheap and cheerful with friendly reception staff. Bar staff could be a bit more friendly and you could n't sit in the pool bar to watch football unless you had a drink.. even as a resident.
Pleasent environment and enough space for residents to not fight over th sunbeds."Top Tip:
"Car hire very affordable all over Puerto del Carman and well worth investing in if you're not a beach bum. There are some fabulous beaches and sights all around the island... and fuel is much cheaper than UK. "Apartments were clean but old fashioned and a bit shabby. TV was coin operated. Too many cats around the complex. The owners look after cats there, one jumped in our bedroom window on the second night while we were asleep. We slept with the windows locked after that with no air conditioning or even a fan!"

"Appartments clean, towels changed regularly, friendly staff.
Whilst appartments were at top of hill there is a bus stop immediatley outside and also a taxi rank therefore even old / less mobile clients could stay here if prepared to require transport each outing.

"Hotel was very clean and rooms were spacious. Nice large living room compact kitchen but room to work there. Bathroom was of a good size and very clean. Also large terrace with sea view with sun all day long, which was excellent. No air con, but we went in July/August and rooms were not too hot at all because of the windy, cooler nights you get in Lanzarote. Both pools were very clean but very small, although, for saying it was peak season, we never had trouble finding a sun bed. Please note that there is not a courtesy room for those with late flights, but you can keep your room on for 25 euros, providing the hotel is not booked up. A big thankyou to Steve who worked the pool bar of an evening, he's one of the best in our opinion.
Location turned out to be OK, with plenty of resturants near by.! Old town is down the hill from hotel about 10/15 minute walk. New town is about a 15/20 minute walk,and that's just to the start of it. It's a long promenade, full of much of the samish bars and resturants. beach at new town is huge and beautiful with loads of watersorts and space to play with kids.
Weather was fantastic and with a cooling breeze to make it bearable."Top Tip:

"as they all say, you get what you pay for. we paid £210 for flights and self catering accommodation...cheap so i wasnt expecting hotel equivalent service/rooms.
rooms were basic:
- twin beds (sheets changed maybe once while we were there, and only cos we asked for them to be changed)
- towels changed twice
- rooms were "cleaned" i.e. beds made and a little tidy up. Didnt look like they cleaned the bathroom/bathtub
