  • P from ARRINGDON reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "Too few workers and many shirkers. Colour of shirt and age determined the amount of effort that staff made. All black shirts worked, and some exceptionally hard. Younger management white and blue striped shirts were attentive and would carry out menial tasks. Older staff wearing blue striped shirts felt it below them to listen to requests, and the possibility of any output other than compute input on tills was as rare as them perspiring.
The rudeness shown towards women was incredible. Any request made by 3 women in our party had to be duplicated by a male before any notice was taken.
If they had shown more interest in serving than getting a signature for absolutely everything perhaps my criticism would not be so harsh."

  • Victoria from Belfast reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "Absolutely wonderful hotel - we got a Nile view which I would really recommend. The room was beautifully appointed, beds were great, bathroom and shower brilliant. The food was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you. I would particularly recommend a trip to the super friendly and cheap beauticians in the hotel - after two weeks in the desert me and the husband really benefitted from our pedicures, and the girls, Sabah and Nada, did a great job at a silly price. They definitely earned their money! The location of the hotel cannot be beaten either - El Kebabgy is a few hundred yards away if you want a good evening meal with wine and a choice of Egyptian and Western dishes. Their kebabs are great."

  • Top Tip:

"Sofra is a beautiful restaurant well signposted from just outside the hotel door - about a 10 minute stroll but well worth it as it's definitely the prettiest restaurant in Luxor and the food was great apart from a painfully dry and underseasoned duck. Just make sure you go after 7.15 - there's a mosque next door and the muezzin call would deafen you! Also for trips we found Steve at Luxor4Tours was brilliant - can't recommend him highly enough."

  • robert from earby reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "lovely hotel which is right near to all the attractions. the pool is a pontoon in the nile but you do have noisy cruise boats parking next to it which smell and have te engines running all the time which isn't very good. other than that would recommend the hotel. we stayed all inclusive which is new to the hotel but the only problem is they make you sign for all your drinks which is unusual to say the least"

  • Top Tip:

"we stayed all inclusive. but the luxor temples are about 5 minutes walk from the hotel"

  • Vicky from Holywell reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "The hotel was lovely, very clean, modern, friendly staff, food was nice and hot, my room was really nice, spacious, clean, tidy, modern and comfortable! with a amazing view of the Nile. (which I did ask for!) I liked this hotel, location and its service so much I plan to go back again next year!! and look forward to it."

  • Top Tip:

"Be prepared to get hassled by local taxi's, and horse and carriage drivers, asking to take you places, also locals trying to sell you everything and anything! I learnt how to say 'NO THANKYOU' in arabic very quickly! and it helped because they did not expect a tourist to know their language. If you are looking for activites or anything else when you get there, visit "Andy" inside the hotel lobby, in the handbag shop! hes very friendly...helpful and will do everything he can to get you a good deal on anything you want and you want but cant find or dont know where to look!"

  • Valentine from St Leonards on Sea reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "The rooms were comfortable and clean, but rather noisy if overlooking the street (no double glazing) great air conditioning - essential in June/July and August. Food was very good. Wonderful buffet breakfast, everything anyone could want and as much as you like. A Chinese and an Italian restaurant , both on site, were also excellent and cheap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice pool area, actually moored on the Nile, so benefited from a cooling breeze and lovely views. We enjoyed our stay very much."

  • Top Tip:

"The local souk is well worth a visit - its behind the Luxor Temple, and go through the 'tourist' bit, before reaching the local market stalls."

  • Barbara from Preston reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "Well run hotel, food great, staff brilliant, some of the soft furnishings a little tired but everywhere very clean, grounds well kept - would use again."

  • Top Tip:

"This hotel is on the Nile so no beach but they had 2 resteraunts in the grounds, one Chinese which I didn't try and one Italian which was very good. Luxor isn't the sort of place to go out in much though I know there are several English resteraunts in the area, I preferred the hotel I was in and many people visited it as an excursion for special dinners and entertainment."

  • PHILIP from LUTON reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "staff were very good, very friendly. The breakfast buffet had a wide choice and set you up for the day.We did find that the evening meals although offered a wide choice they were very bland in taste. Overall the hotel, rooms grounds etc were spotless and would have no problem recomending it to others, the location is ideal for all your needs in Luxor,"

"book your trips with jolleys travel in luxor when you arrive for more than half the price offered by the british tour operators. E.g balloon ride by tour operator in hotel at £80 got the same trip, same ballon company with Jolleys at £30"

  • John from York reviewed the Iberotel Luxor Hotel

  • "Good hotel, breakfast choice ok with egg bar, nice marble floored bar, nile view rooms with good view. Chinese resataurant in grounds decent (good food in luxor very hard to find). Pool on pontoon in Nile is not heated. Room not too big with v small bathroom (hip bath and adjust the door when you use the toilet) but adequate."

  • Top Tip:

"Restaurants - Chinese as above worth trying - 7days7ways tedious english menu (tuna salad starter=some chopped dressed veg with a tin of tuna sat on top) but steak was excellent meat and perfectly cooked - sofra restaurant upstairs - very attractive but food a little below mediocre - el kebabgy good ambience and music has charcoal grill but that doesn't mean to say your kebab etc was cooked on it rather than just the kiychen - shish tawouk a lot like chicken shashlick is good anywhere but was overcooked and dry at el kebabagy but perfect at the metropolitan (nr luxor temple) at lunch time (previous 2 and 3 other establishments right next to the river are part of the same company). Tried two mixed grills at kebabagy and sofra but poor at both. Sofra has many mezze the foul was good the houmous had v little garlic or lemon juice or tahini so was crap. Mt mixed grill had burnt on one side liver, a lamb cutlet (desribed as a rack) with 0.2 oz of meat 2 vvv salty bits of kofta, but the salad mezze was good so choose wisely."
