"Goregeous hotel with great facilities especially the infinity pool. Very helpful staff. Rooms in need of update, however, this has already started and looks amazing. Hotel has excellent security and the island location makes it feel exclusive- very 5 star! Would definitely stay here again."

"Thought we'd died and gone to heaven!!!! Food superb! We paid extra and got a 7 evening meals for around £10 per night per person (4 courses) Staff excellent! nothing was too much trouble. Hotel perfect, bathrooms just a little disappointing dated but clean and functional, duo in the bar hilariously funny they were so awful! everybody very friendly, already decided after our first day that we would definitely return, very secure and safe"

"A bit like an American condo this place is just outside Luxor but offers a beautiful alternative to a city based hotel, with Luxor only 10 minutes away by taxi.
Friendly staff and and immaculate, the layout of this resort is a great retreat after the madness of Cairo."

"this is the third time we have stayed at this hotel, we believe it is the next best thing to paradise."

"I have stayed at this hotel previously when it was under Movenpick ownership. It was always one of 'the' places to stay in Luxor and quality of service was unrivaled.
This was my first time at the hotel since Maritim had taken over and I really don't know what has happened but it's lost what it had. The pool was a health hazard with bits of skin and goodness knows what floating around to the point that you could barely see your own hand. The pool towels were dirty and smelt as if they had been dried out and put back out. Security staff were ordered by management to search customers bags on entering for food and drink not bought in hotel and confiscated them. I heard of a diabetic customer who had been to the valley of the kings in the heat and returned feeling unwell with a half drunk bottle of water and a chocolate bar. She explained her condition but staff continued to confiscate the half drunk water and chocolate and told her she was welcome to buy a fresh bottle from the hotel shop. I understand the policy for eating food bought from outside the hotel and always abide by this so I objected to being searched like a criminal every time we went through the doors. I also object to the hotel advice which is not to eat or drink outside the hotel as you risk becoming ill. this is just an attempt to scare people and gain more custom. We spoke to several people who had not left the hotel at all due to this advice and that is so sad as they missed out on so much history and culture.
Service in the restaurant has also dropped it's standards with staff refusing to clear tables for guests to take breakfast even after the previous guests had finished. When asked for more milk a carton of UHT was brought to the table. Hardly 5 star as the management claims the hotel is.
The airconditioning in the room did not work effectively so we asked for it to be fixed by our return 5 hours later nothing had been done and never did get repaired so we suffered a very uncomfortable night in mid August, when we got to the pool the next morning there where sunbeds with sheets and pillows on so one wonders if other guests had been over heating too.
Another big problem was guests reserving sunbeds prior to the pool opening then leaving them empty for over 5-6 hours whilst other families were left with no beds and staff not doing anything about it. It was apparent that they had been well tipped to reserve beds. We arrived mid morning and asked for 4 beds and were told by the pool attendant to go look for them ourselves as there were none free.
We are very dissappointed with this drop in standards as the hotel has everything it needs to be a top class resort and have stayed many times and had an amazing time.
I just hope this is a teething glitch and it will return to it's former service as it would be a huge loss if it continues to decline simply due to new ownership"

"Rooms 1970's stle. Not enough sun loungers,so you had to put your towel on the grass. Not really what I call 5* more 2-3*"

"The hotel was excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. No where near the level of baksheesh hassle you'd expect in Luxor! As is always commented, the rooms do look a bit Butlins with old decor and twin beds shoved together, not 5 star by any means, but they are perfectly OK for coming back to after a hard day's temple viewing/sunbathing.
The infinity pool is brilliant with a very nice atmosphere - a good mix of ages. The relaxing pool is nice for a bit of a sleep, with a hammock just waiting to be swung in..."

"Superb location, great staff but hotel rooms are tired and need updating!"

"Hotel lovely and staff friendly - some too friendly and begging for money, particularly a small chef in the main restaurant. Food good and varied, but the four people in our party had upset tummies for the whole 7 days and had to consult the hotel doctor who wanted to give them 6 drugs and an injection, two of which were banned substances.
Your rep in the resort was pretty useless with communications and could be better.
Otherwise good holiday, Monarch airlines good, ticket delivery good and good value for money so thank you."

"Visited the Jolie Ville from 16 June till 30 June 2008 and there is nothing bad I can say about the place.
Great food, great pools, great rooms and perfect base to explore Luxor and the surrounding areas.
Would visit the hotel again no questions if you get the chance to stay here please do!!"

"This was my 4th time here and I loved it! Staff great , room kept clean with fresh sheets and towels (they will be updating them next year), room service good, Le Fleur A la Carte restaurant very good , breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. Superb adult pool and amazing infinity pool overlooking the Nile. Kid's club with lots of activities and a Playstation for the diehards!(take your own memory card and a few games to help you along). Lots of things to do at the hotel or just do what I do and laze around the pool!
Do go sightseeing as there is so much to see in Luxor. Trip via boat to Dendera is the most recent thing I have done. Had a great day.
I will be taking my 5th trip later on in the year and for sure I would stay nowhere else but the Jolie Ville."

"Rooms are dated but the gardens make up for it - they (and the views across the Nile) are beautiful. Food is excellent and staff are friendly but leave you alone."

"The hotel is a couple of Kms south from the centre of Luxor in the country, 15 L E (£1.50) by taxi from Winter Palace in very well kept grounds. The pool nearest the restaurent was closed for re-tiling but it did not seem to matter. Popular with British, French and German tourists. The standard of catering was high, the exec chef being european. The accommodation was a little tired but it has been taken over by a ? german hotel group so they might be looking at this. The security is very high with nearly a dozen guards in place. The hotel runs a free minibus and motor launch to the Winter Palace. The staff are helpful and friendly"
